I was 18 when I deployed and had this happen. I was 23 when I met Garrett and got to share my story. Instead of seeking counseling, I was afraid to admit that I had taken a life. I talked to Garrett as a mentor and friend, but he asked if he could write about my struggles because he felt it would reach people. If not for Garrett, I would still struggle to this day. I'm not proud of my actions overseas, but I'm glad I could assist those that are hurting with the same guilt and pain.

My father was in the Air Force for around 20 years and was deployed to active combat zones every other year, I see him still struggle sometimes with things he’s seen as well as being away from his loved ones. I have such immense respect for him and this whole video kinda reminded of that service and what he’s sacrificed. Was nice to see y’all go in depth into the things that people don’t talk about regarding servicemen and going to war as far as ptsd goes.
I totally feel you on the pain you mentioned. I don't know how people can get through news like that (Concerning your wife's cancer) without God. It helped me too. I, myself was in a line platoon in OEF 6. I cleared active duty in 2007 but just last year was diagnosed with PTSD, I have been dealing with this shit for over a decade and never knew what was wrong with me.. this song gives me goosebumps and damn near makes me cry every time I hear it. If there are any veterans or anyone that suffers from PTSD please do yourself a favor and do you friends/family a bigger favor and get help before it inevitably eats you alive. Heavy, heavy stuff. I was deployed numerous times to Iraq, Afghanistan, Congo and Kosovo over a 10 year career as a soldier. It all abruptly ended when I was paralyzed in Afghanistan with a broken back, shattered knees and a bullet through the side. I suffered with PTSD Anxiety and depression. However, the Lord was faithful to keep me going. My faith and my calling as a pastor led me to become more transparent with my past when preaching and speaking for different organizations. I could say like many others this particular song resonates with me on a very high level! I appreciate your review. Thank you
