Dude, the synth build up is sick af. Have the riff repeat and put the snare on 3 to make it groove even more. I love the transition from a snare groove on 2 and 4 to go to a 3 right after.
@@matildagreene yes definitely. They go hard af. I was just replying to the other guy about blending dubstep with metal. But lots of great artists out there today that blend it with electronic
I love that Xfer plugin so much. Anything that is lacking detail in a metal mix or that just needs more attitude, its so perfect. I like using it on guitar DI for low tunings because it really helps all the detail of the DI hit the amp so much cleaner with modest settings. All that detail of your guitar just comes out in such a good way. Super cool to see it on the synth.
Brotherrrr. Sounds absolutely nuts! Throw a second repetition on it, with the snare on three for groove and add an extra ambient layer or synth or guitar (or both 👀)
I love that in every Thick Riff you do, that there is this moment when you realize you wrote another banger and its just smiles! Keep it going dog....killin' it!
I love your enthusiasm and positive attitude towards your own music, it’s contagious! Like a lot of people I have a tendency to be too critical towards my own music ideas which can sometimes kill the creative flow
Great advice! I'm been more of a synth guy for a while but have been getting more into guitar and now I'm exploring this method of producing metal to combine with other genres, some of which includes synths. I'm into prog rock and metal and I do love me some synth and guitar playing the same parts. I'm thinking Ihsahn, Opeth, Steven Wilson, Katatonia, etc. It's thick and rich with extra harmonics and tastiness. I, and maybe others, would be interested in seeing how you'd use a pedal like the Meris Enzo for the genres you produce here. Idk if it would work for what you did here but maybe it could!
I like to use my wavestate 2 (WAY MORE of a synth and much more than a sequencer than I could have asked for. I’d HIGHLY recommend the purchase. It’s almost like you have to try intentionally harder to get bad sound design from it). But I’d get 3 synth parts I wanted to use and so I’d basically archive all 3 of the parts that are totally different sound wise but go together with using the BPM of the song while using the blend control stick on the top left of the wavestate to have more of whatever 3 synths I’m running and also running blue cat to patch in white noise/distortion (especially on bass kicks for drum tracks) so everything is pretty much this controlled chaos of being able to blend everything in parallel analog AND digitally and yea. I just typed a whole bunch of words but if you have/had a wavestate 2 it would make a little more sense. Either way, that mix was T H I C C.
About the zero latency wireless headphones : it’s not for everyone, and i has some color to it in the low mids, but the aiaiai audio tma 2 wireless is quite a good wireless headset (you might get some noise at times)
You don’t need logic to do all this. I use Ableton and it’s 100000% better than logic for programming midi. 99% of Dj and electronic producers use Ableton. That’s all I use now. Track guitars in Ableton too
thanks for this series, even though i dont play as much anymore as i used too, it is nice to listen to your creation and see that you enjoy it a lot. also i don't know where to place a synth in my apartment haha, are there any other solutions? like softwares that you might suggest to install and would get the "idea" done for a hobbyist?
I see the same guitars in rotation for your riffs, how do you handle the different tunings? Do you just maintain one string set and tune to whatever? (Drop G, Drop C, etc)

I'm a sucker for blending electronic music with metal. You killed this shit, might be one of the best I've heard from you
When dubstep was huge I was shocked there wasn’t more.
@@benstanfill363 Same. There’s not a whole lot of artists today that blend these genres and do it well. First person I can think of is Sullivan King
@@soaps1106 Northlane and ERRA do it quite well

Damn this is solid advice. You're a 100% right, everyone should be doing this.
You and Chris Bedan are my goto youtubers on these matters! :D Great tips!
Yup. Same
Thanks dude, I'm honored!
Dude, you have too much power! Love how you come in with "I have an idea" and it's better than 90% of the bands out there. So damn good my dude.
hahah thanks for the very kind words dude!
Nastiest riff I’ve heard from you. Incredible. Jonathon Deiley would be very very proud.
Now I have to go buy an effing moog. Dang it.
heavy mick gordon vibes from this. i love it

Love this synth journey you're going on. Everything sounds dope. Another great ep.
thanks so much!

Northlane Alien 👽 feels. Love it🔥
Actully lol’d at that car commercial ☠️
My god that synth with the metal zone is BUSSIN

AIAIAI headphones... You won't regret em...!
My AIAIAI TMA2s are a joy to use. I don't recommend mixing with them but damn it are they convenient for a multi-instrument-bedroom-producer.
Daaamn bro, that's really Mick Gordon style, sounds sick AF
Lawd this riff is thick 😮💨
brooooo thank you
Vital is such a stick free wavetable synth. I'd love to see what you do in there with a Thicc riff.
Insanely good.
