You guys can shit on the 'grow the game' calls all you like, but anecdotally here in Australia LIV gets a lot more air time in general sport conversation and random 4-balls chats on course than the PGA tour. The Majors and Tiger aside, I can't recall the last conversation I had about the PGA tour, as opposed to LIV which over the last few years has come up in random conversations in multiple friend groups, and non-golf and non-sport fan friends are showing some interest in going to Adelaide to watch next years LIV event - compare that to the last big event we had here (the President's Cup with Tiger Fucking Woods playing), I can't say a single non-golf friend mentioned anything about it let alone wanted to go. Whether you like it or not, that is growing the game.
I think the best solution is to go back to the option that was available at the beginning. Let the players be free contractors and play/qualify for where they want to play and not do any type of deal. The best players may play both, but will have to pick one over the other on conflicted dates. If you do that, I think the last two years has proven the liv format would not win out. Treat it just like players 60 years ago when they did side exhibition matches.
TV contracts and sponsors want some idea of where the star players are going to play. Hence, players have deadlines to commit to events. (Ratings for golf - for a multitude of reasons - are at their lowest). I wanna say the NBA, recently, have changed or created new rules about ‘sitting’ star players - example: Lebron comes to your town, you buy tickets a month in advance and the coach sits him ‘for rest’. You’d prob be not happy. I live in the Phoenix area and look at who is committed - LPGA, PGAT - before buying tickets. Rahm, due to wining majors in last two yrs is exempt from needing to qualify for any of them (I believe the next 3 yrs) - he gets to play LIV’s 20% less schedule and have a guaranteed Thursday tee time at all majors for next 3 yrs. Pretty sweet deal for him - no brainer!
Remember Rory being Mr. “They made their beds” when speaking about Euro LIV players being banned from the Ryder Cup……welp….😂😂😂 McIlroy said: “As someone who has played on three Ryder Cup teams with Jon...Jon is going to be in Bethpage in 2025. "So because of this decision the European Tour are going to have to rewrite the rules for Ryder Cup eligibility, absolutely, there is no question about that. I certainly want Jon Rahm on the next Ryder Cup team."
Coming from someone who works in the industry, when this golf bubble (that we are 100% in) bursts, I have no idea what the future looks like and that is scary.
The first time I watched LIV I streamed the phone app and was hooked and set it up to on CW to record all coming tournaments. I gave the majors a break the first year and from now on if top LIV players are not invited to play I won’t be watching them. Australia last year was the best tournament I ever saw that wasn’t a major and it hooked many of my golfing buddies once I got them to watch it
58:56 The last good thing that happened for fans of golf was on July 12th 2023.. Strapped (Spring Training) Part 3. Enough already. We want more Strapped…
One thing you guys need to take into account is than the average non golfing nut will watch golf if the scenery is interesting. For example in South Africa the most watched golf is the Dunhill which is played now at Leopard Creek GC which is basically on the edge of Kruger Park. So you see loads of great animals and birds with an expert commentator who can explain what the birds are etc etc. .
And now all of the sudden Rory is crying for a rule change for the Ryder Cup. Funny how that works when the Europeans lose one of their best. US team lost a ton from previous Ryder cup and it didn’t seem to matter then.
Where does Soly's "no LIV inside the top 30 SG" come from? Would like to see receipts. Seems crazy. If SG is simply to the field for LIV, then it is a zero sum game and LIV player must be in the top 30 as they are only competing against themselves. What am I missing? If you point to majors, their records has been quite good. Again, what am I missing? Are you backing DataGolf? Recognize that they rank Zalatoris above Koepka, Gooch, Reed, English and DJ after not playing all year and coming last by a mile @ Hero. Love Zalatoris and love the pod. After a pretty enjoyable fall with the Ryder Cup (at least from a European perspective) and some great and emotional moments on the PGA Tour like the victories of Villegas, Van Rooyen and Aberg, we are now back on the path of destruction. It just flat out sucks.
Golf fans around the World is enjoying the top players in the world coming to their countries. PGAT have to focus on America & US Born players. The players going to LIV now are mostly Foreign players anyway. LIV is going to replace the old European tour in a Bigger way, going around the World.

The best players in the world playing against each other when its clear the players are giving it their all, that is what brings eyeballs. Golf has a theatrical advantage, given how natural entertaining drama is manufactured through the game itself. Tiger brought so many eyeballs because of how good he was, not because he was so rich.
Yep. The guys that supported the PGA tour felt double crossed with his 180 degree turn to LIV. So why not say screw you PGAT and take the money? I hate the LIV tour for what its worth but don't blame Rahm.
It’s probably hard for the average person to watch golf when it’s pounded into their brain that the best golfer is determined by total number of majors won. Why would they watch normal tour events, they don’t matter? Seems like most golfers would rather play golf than watch golf.
Just because this (and all the other LIV defections) negatively impacts the PGA tour, it doesn't have to negatively impact golf as a whole. The Tour is not golf, we are. The existence of LIV isnt necessarily a bad thing for golf. If you give it a chance, LIV could create a greater audience for professional golf around the world. If you recall the WWF (Now WWE) entered into a broken pro wrestling environment by buying up all the talent. At first the talent leaving were considered defectors, but in the end the bigger stage and vast sums of money created something unachievable prior to. LIV may bring the same enhancement to golf.
Soly, "going back to that time period, the Khashoggi stuff was very recent" ..... he was murdered in 2018, LIV wasn't a serious conversation for at least 3 years afterwards. Sportwashing wasn't really being talked about when Jay wouldn't take PIF's calls, and the whole 'blood money' concept wasn't spoken about until well after moves had already been made. Are you really suggesting Jay didn't take those early calls because of Khashoggi? That's a bit of revisionist history isn't it?
I think LIV Golf has credited a lot of overinflated egos. Jon Rahm got 566M to run away. 302 M upfront and the rest in signing bonus that is according to the SBJ and Wall Street Journal. That makes Jon the most richest athelete of 2023. Did he really want to run away or was LIV just FINALLY desperate cause of the fact that his deal is no where to be done. I remember when that league first formed a couple of years ago, Jon offered 300M to join but didnt happen.
Look guys, you backed the wrong horse. The cope after Koepka winning a major last year not being a win for LIV pales into comparison over the cope about Rahm joining LIV not being a win for LIV
Keep laughing at LIV . Keep going guys. Time for the pga tour to be crushed. They do not own the game and they’ve behaved as if they had a complete monopoly. Golf is a global game and I look forward to welcoming a liv event in Spain.
Amazing the NLU guys all thought LIV was going away after 6/6 and even after today still don't fully acknowledge what's going on. That's to to say I agree with it all but I wouldn't estimate how deep their pockets are.
Spieth? What are you talking about? Get out of your bubble. Spieth has been "just a guy" for 6 years and counting. Will do nothing going forward. Outside of the US NGAF about Spieth or JT. It's painful that you think these guys are relevant.
There is only about 25 guys that legit have shot to win on tour every week before LIV was even a thing. The other 125 guys are just there to fill the field. Its been that way since Jack and Arnie started the tour and its the same today. It was always going to come to a separate tour of the worlds best 40-50 players and everyone else doesn’t matter. Jack, Tiger, Brooks, Rory they all say the same thing about the tour field.
Actually, tour history proves more than 25 guys win every week. Typically there are 4 to 6 first winners in any given season, this past I believe there were 10 to 12 first-time winners. Every great player has to start with their first win.. But I agree let the players play wherever they want. Because to to lose the PGA tour means to lose LPGA, Champions Tour, and Korn Ferry tour, which all owned and run by the PGA tour.
Hitching a ride to Tiger who plays if he’s lucky 5 times a year is a flawed thought and hope he saves the tour. Spieth is popular but has been irrelevant for years now.
All these cats are talking about players leaving PGAT of America. PGAT is not global tour, it’s American tour played 90% of its Tournaments in US. Just focus & promote the US players & the tournaments.
I'm SO over professional golf. Thank goodness for your channel and some of the other TH-cam golf channels. I'd much rather watch one of your travel/golf round videos than the pros these days.
Just a thought… Active @PGATOUR players with multiple majors (excluding TW): Rory (4) + Jordan (3) + Collin (2) + JT (2) = 11 Active @livgolf_league players: Phil (6) + Brooks (5) + Bubba (2) + Kaymer (2) + DJ (2) + Rahm (2) = 19 Door now wide open for VH, SS, CM, TK?🤪
You wouldn't have done this? No f'ing way. You would be insane not to. LIV is the future, PGA is the past. PGA is a mill and that's the way those that control the PGA behind the scenes want it to be. Do you as a fan want to watch Rahm in snippets here and there and maybe once in a while you see him when he's leading a tournament? Not me, no f'ing way. PGA is done unless they adjust.
You lot have been wrong about everything lol hey you told the world the agreement with PIF means liv is dead and Greg norman is gone and Jay Monahan has control over everything
Did Rahm looking out for his and his family's best interest affect how anyone else swings the clubs? Does it affect how well any golfer plays in a tournament ? Does it affect endorsements for any golfer? No, no, and no. Does it affect the monopoly the PGA has had on professional golf for far too long? Damn straight it does, and that's a GOOD thing.
You guys just don’t get it LIV is the big dog. All of the other tours including PGA are just feeder tours to play in LIV. Keep hanging on to PGA and lose your future. Jump to LIV while you can
I’m kinda done. More focus is needed on the alienation of the fan. The true golf fan is repulsed by this process that is centered on individual profit at ungodly numbers. The truly engaged fan who watches the sport and follows outlets like NLU, feel completely discarded as the sport they love is being dismantled for the benefit of a few. There may be a unification down the road, but there may be less fans watching. It is very possible this whole thing becomes an “own goal”.
As someone who just got into golf this year…this isn’t helping. I want to watch golf. I want to see the best players every weekend but the commercial load and media rights being everywhere make it difficult to give a shit and I’m real deep since it’s my new thing. It’s hard to consume. I want to consume as much as possible but can’t. The app is terrible. TC’s hoodie is inside out. I don’t care that rahm left as I didn’t really like him from what I’ve seen this year. I want to see my favorite players and he wasn’t one of them. Much like the distance debate that doesn’t affect me, I didn’t watch him when he was featured and I won’t watch LIV now because he is there. If Max, JT and Jordan go I’ll watch. Make an app like F1. Let me pay money willingly to watch who i want to watch. The whole round. Every round they play. I already do that for F1 and the NHL. I’ll do it for golf.
This all is just soooooo lame. Rahm sold out. End of story. LIV aint growing the game. The team aspect IS NOT good for golf. He does not have to provide anymore for his family. He. sold. out. Lame that he says anything else. Have fun at the LIV frat parties Rahm. See ya at the majors.

Are you really suggesting Jay didn't take those early calls because of Khashoggi? That's a bit of revisionist history isn't it?
Liv is fast n over n done.
Majors only for me or highlights, it's only the last few holes that count usually and I'm not paying for it
God that cheesy black jacket they made Rahm wear
Yeah,,,,,PGAT could never have cool apparel
Best piece of information in this video is that Soly's wife was a UF Dazzler...Go Gators!
Jon Rahm is Officer Rod Farva from Super Troopers…gone to the Spurbury Police force
Why is the Head coach of the University of Florida sitting on the far right of the stage?
So weird Rahm took 600m to play golf with his mates…
Yea the majors aren't run by the pga
WAKE UP TO REALITY
Can't wait for LNU to be gone
Have you ever watched any Golf?
All of this going into a recession !
Hitching a ride to Tiger who plays if he’s lucky 5 times a year is a flawed thought and hope he saves the tour. Spieth is popular but has been irrelevant for years now.
Where is Tim Finchem when you need him?
would it be such a bad thing for golf to go to the tennis model where people 98% only care about majors?
I’m more interested in TH-cam golf than pro golf lmao
The PGA brought it on by themselves.
KVV please abandon the use of “sort of.”
Jay got spun like a top
I’m sure 600M will give you clarity in life, good for Jon.
Mama needed new shoes
All these cats are talking about players leaving PGAT of America. PGAT is not global tour, it’s American tour played 90% of its Tournaments in US. Just focus & promote the US players & the tournaments.
Negotiating 101 400 million isn’t going to change his life… never said 600 million.✅
I'm SO over professional golf. Thank goodness for your channel and some of the other TH-cam golf channels. I'd much rather watch one of your travel/golf round videos than the pros these days.
Just a thought…
Active @PGATOUR players with multiple majors (excluding TW):
Rory (4) + Jordan (3) + Collin (2) + JT (2) = 11
Active @livgolf_league players:
Phil (6) + Brooks (5) + Bubba (2) + Kaymer (2) + DJ (2) + Rahm (2) = 19
Door now wide open for VH, SS, CM, TK?🤪
KVV is right. All this makes me apathetic. I’ll just watch the majors
I'm loosing my interest in professional golf. I'll most likely only watch the majors now.
HIRE NLU BOYS FOR PGA PRESIDENTS
Why do you think , we are all don't like Liv??? Bunch of men that can't see the future
Are they falling off or less motivated because the money isn’t a motivator any more.
Let me know if u were offered a lot of money to change ur format wouldn't u do it that a ton of money
Gutted I’ll only see Rahmbo 4 times a year 😢
THAT is YOUR problem
33:13 this sequence pissed me off. Sorry boys. I guess I’ll watch the other tours if it’s 75 players who can’t lose their spot.
Are you a literal Mule?
Fsp pga
lol. Imagine covering Rahm heading to LIV and one of your serious questions is: Does LIV continue past September 2024?
Bahahhahaha
I use to big a huge fan and watch but now I just stick to TH-cam golf, way better
