"We just might not be that good..." You can always rely on Neil to be completely honest on reflection. He then follows up saying his best golf is ahead of him. Fantastic mindset. I've always enjoyed watching him play.
Absolutely love to watch you guys play competitive events. The content is so relatable and the film room breakdowns give us insight that we could never simply observe. Thanks for the high production value and taking the time to have Cody help break down the game within the game.
This is a fantastic episode. Neil I root for you harder than anybody else I watch golf. Your triumphs and your struggles are unbelievably relatable. The fact that you take it all head on and your willingness to share it with the world is inspiring.
Neil battling through this course and through a mid-am is so relatable. Hate to see him going everywhere off the tee, because we've seen him have a much better game than that. His TPI work will pay off soon. Can't wait for that! Keep up the Film Room boys!
Been fortunate enough to be a guest at the Bridge - honestly surprised that they allowed filming, but it's an extremely cool golf experience (and the clubhouse is sick)
Love the video. Well done Neil for putting yourself out there. I loved the comment about the having a chance to test yourself. If you've faced the challenge, you've won no matter what the final score. BTW, the rules official on 18 was wrong about the drop. If you're taking back on the line relief for an unplayable ball, the ball can roll forward up to a club length when you drop it, as long as it doesn't go forward of where the unplayable ball was. The relief area in this case is a circle, not a semi-circle.
One of the most underrated courses on the planet. Incredible set of par 5s. Cannot imagine playing a round with any sort of pressure on that track. Ups to the kid
Neil is the man, love seeing him battle wherever, but man do I wanna see him taking more runs at that mega bonus. Here's hoping this round is only a stepping stone towards that glorious day. The Kid definitely has it in him.
This whole thing is really giving me a good laugh. Neil is probably the least worthy of any negativity… he puts himself out there for the sake of content. Only to get bashed about his pants, socks, pace of play (we know that he hates people pushing him so this is a sensitive subject). On top of all that I know he’s reading all these comments and prob thinking way too much about all of it..🤣 I almost feel bad for him but apparently he has a desire to face situations of possible embarrassment to keep him feeling alive. Thank you Neil
There’s golf and then there’s competitive golf… and then there’s competitive golf on camera knowing it’s being viewed by thousands. Good on you Neil, not an easy task! 👍🏻
First off, that course looks absolutely freaking incredible. If my guy Neil can learn how to putt he could be dangerous. That flatstick is just no bueno.
I have never played a hole of competitive golf, but listening to pods the last year almost feels like Neil is forcing himself to be more "mature" and strategic on the course bc he thinks he has to be. 10 over on 13 tee fuck the 3-wood Icarito! You're still the kid be an athlete and send it. Cody has you over thinking!
@@nt23rode The LIGA only left registration open for 18 days in March (most registrations are open for months) and limited the field, did not allow a waitlist. Pretty rough shut down of this tournament 7 months ahead of time - last tournament of the year. Interesting that he got into the field, he must have really been on it.
As somebody who started with a fade, sought out a draw, and then basically ruined my own golf swing for 2 years, I see some dangerous patterns developing. Ball slowly starts moving more and more left off the tee, the fade you once had in the back pocket off the fairway becomes a push. The kid is resilient, so I am sure he will keep the ball moving forward. Just something to monitor
Man seems like we’ve all been there, also faded then wanted to hit the draw, became Captain Hook and couldn’t keep the ball on the planet, almost quit. Took 2 years to come out of that 😂
I've found that when I approach a round trying to play safe, I get stuck in a tentative mindset, and try to steer the ball around the course. That never works. It's easier said than done but I need to make aggressive swings at conservative targets. Neil might have gotten stuck in that, until he blew up and finally played free.
Would like Tron's take on the length of Neil's pants. It brought back JDay vibes when I first saw him in the Malbon stuff. Shoes are a win. The pants are Shocking to me. But shockingly bad.
Two wardrobe mistakes contributed to Neil's downfall.............. 1) two different shades of blue 2) the shortest socks under long pants. The golfing gods don't like that ! ;)
Completely understand the thought process but Neil needed to just say F it, give me the driver more often. That’s his money maker and way more comfy that 3 woods and irons.
I played in the 2nd group of the afternoon ( first group behind Neil’s). His group played in 5:05. Ruined the afternoon wave. People finished in the dark because of this
@@Ligolfer57 This isn't true. We were not the first group out. We fell behind on numbers 3, 7, and 11 but caught up in all 3 situations. In each case, it was due to lost balls (on 3 and 6 were my fault and on 11 it was a member of my group). We waited on 15, 16, 17, and 18 before teeing off. Filming this round did not impact pace. I also made a point to check with the MGA staff after the round, and we were under 5 hours (nor did they have any issue with our group's pace). I am hyper-conscious of pace when filming, and I know it's an easy thing to blame, but it's not that simple nor is what you stated true. Regardless, I will be sure to play even faster in the future. Thanks for watching.
I'm watching this on a tablet, so maybe players in the distance are hard to see, but on 15, I don't see anyone on the hole when you're teeing off. 16 is a par 3 so no way of knowing. 17 there is no one on the hole when your group is teeing off. Though maybe someone in your group was especially long and waiting for the green to clear on the uphill 300 yard par 4. And 18 is a little tought to tell; I guess there could be players off in the distance or around the dogleg, but again, don't see any players on that hole. If your group was waiting on 15,17 and 18 tees, wouldn't we see the group in front of you in the video?
@@nikkikiska I teed off last on all holes mentioned because I stink. Definitely waited on 16, 17 was short par 4 and group ahead was on the green. 18 is blind down the hill par 5, so you can’t see the group. In the end my point is we didn’t play fast (and I wish I could say we did), but we were not out of position all day as original comment implies.

Close. Don’t discount that he has Cody on the bag and some part is wondering why Cody isn’t hitting the ball. Imposter syndrome is brutal.

Neil and Cody are my favorite NLU pairing.

Wow, Bridge looks pure! Impressed they hosted a mid-am. Nice work NLU!

When you’re sponsored by some of the big boys in golf… it’s not surprising.
This course looks amazing. Great content too :)
The comp golf vids are always awesome from NLU

Does he need to consider moving to a LAB putter so he can just focus on speed for the short putts too?
what did Neil shoot to qualify to get in the mid am?
No qualifier for the LI Mid-Am, just need to meet the handicap requirement and sign up in time.
