Also, her name is pronounced: Dee *ah* nah Ahnk oo *din* ohvah I'm a bit persnickety about getting names right, because I've grown up with most people mis-pronouncing *my* name. Some other *excellent* performances from her are: Rechenka (in Russian) Human (in English) Derniere Danse (in French) Blizzard (in Russian) Puttin' On The Ritz (English) 'Rechenka' is from an old traditional folk tale about an orphaned girl who is supposed to marry someone she doesn't love, so she goes down to the river (the border between the living and the dead) to ask her mother for her advice. Beautiful and sad and haunting! IMO, the best she's done yet! And she was *only 14 years old!* 'Blizzard' is about a girl who asks for the snow to cover (bury) her and her house, because the one she loves is gone. Also beautiful and sad. BTW, the show she's on there is 'You're Super!'; it's a talent show for 'disadvantaged youth', mostly orphans like Diana. Her mother abused and neglected her, then dumped her on the street. A lady at the orphanage she ended up at took her in. Diana was *almost non-verbal* (even though she was 4 years old!) so her new mom put her into singing therapy, which (along with a voice coach) obviously worked wonderfully! That extra-low vocal range on a female is called a 'contralto'. Maybe one gal in 200 is a natural contralto, like her; and they don't usually come into that range until they're older! *Enjoy!*

Hey everyoneeee! I noticed while editing that I made a lot of comparisons to Diana with other performers. I think the reason I was doing this was because I was trying to find some familiar grounds because her voice is so unusual! This was not to say that she was copying them or anything like that - she just had elements of her performance that reminded me of things I had heard before, and as I stated at the end of the video, all of this packaged together created a really unique artist! Dear Zara, Diana has a connection to Dimash's partner Maestro Igor Krutoy, who was the bald judge that pushed his button last. This show is his and after the show he paid for an apartment for Diana & her adoptive family in Moscow. This show is for children that had a hard childhood. She was severely abused by her birth mother until age 5, at which time her family took her to an orphanage. Then the woman that adopted her got her voice lessons. That "crack" was most likely part of her yodel abilities. You'll see that in some of her other songs, like Human and Rechenka.

'Rechenka' is from an old traditional folk tale about an orphaned girl who is supposed to marry someone she doesn't love, so she goes down to the river (the border between the living and the dead) to ask her mother for her advice. Beautiful and sad and haunting! IMO, the best she's done yet! And she was *only 14 years old!*
'Blizzard' is about a girl who asks for the snow to cover (bury) her and her house, because the one she loves is gone. Also beautiful and sad.
BTW, the show she's on there is 'You're Super!'; it's a talent show for 'disadvantaged youth', mostly orphans like Diana.
Her mother abused and neglected her, then dumped her on the street. A lady at the orphanage she ended up at took her in. Diana was *almost non-verbal* (even though she was 4 years old!) so her new mom put her into singing therapy, which (along with a voice coach) obviously worked wonderfully!
That extra-low vocal range on a female is called a 'contralto'. Maybe one gal in 200 is a natural contralto, like her; and they don't usually come into that range until they're older!

Diana had a rough start in life. Her alcoholic mother did not want her and abused and neglected her. She was abandoned at 3 years old. A relative found her and took her to an orphanage. A worker at the orphanage adopted her, and because she could not speak, sent her to a vocal teacher where she was taught to sing, so she could learn to speak. Now look at her!!!
She is 15 years old at this competition for orphaned children. She won the competition two years in a row.

Hey everyoneeee! I noticed while editing that I made a lot of comparisons to Diana with other performers. I think the reason I was doing this was because I was trying to find some familiar grounds because her voice is so unusual! This was not to say that she was copying them or anything like that - she just had elements of her performance that reminded me of things I had heard before, and as I stated at the end of the video, all of this packaged together created a really unique artist! Diana was abused by her birth mother and her boyfriends. She was taken into a Russian Orphanage and her case worker there adopted her. Because Diana had trouble speaking after the abuse, her adoptive mother took her to voice coaches where she learned to speak through singing. She is an excellent yodeler! There is a video of her yodeling on TH-cam. It was a competition but none of the judges turned for her. After that she developed this deeper voice, came back, and won two (?) years later. Born in Siberia, she had a tragic start in life ... her biological mother beat her and abandoned her with a broken collar bone at the age of 3 at a bus stop in the throes of a Russian winter. She was rescued and taken to an orphanage where she had to undergo speech therapy because the abuse by her mother left her stuttering. It was then that she discovered singing which helped her to overcome this. She was eventually adopted by the home's massage therapist who loved her.
She's also done a fabulous cover of the song Dernière Danse on a Russian talent show You Are Super which she won in 2 successive years.
