Hello from Texas, Harrison! Here are three reasons why Diana doesn't sound human. First, she is a dramatic contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she was born with a spectacular larynx. It's been called the Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. Hi Harrison, yes you were correct in your assumption that Diana (pronounced Dee-ana) was 15 in this performance. This was in early 2019, she has just had her 18th birthday on 31st May. The show is called "You Are Super" designed to highlight & help children from a disadvantaged background. Diana has a Wikipedia page which will give you more information and there is also a list of songs (7 in total) which she sang on the show over two seasons in 2018 & 2019 - she won both years, the latter being a "Super Season" where previous winners and finalists were invited back. Of the songs you might try "Rechenka" (My Sweet River) in 2018 & V'yuga (Blizzard) in 2019, which will give you some idea of her range, artistry & power - although all are really top notch performances. Apart from "Rechenka" (a reworking of centuries old folk songs) all are covers - "Wicked Game" was originally done by Chris Isaac in the '90s. Hello from Texas, Harrison! Here are three reasons why Diana doesn't sound human.
First, she is a dramatic contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich.
Second, she was born with a spectacular larynx. It's been called the Eighth Wonder of the World.
Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below)
When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune.

The one that seems to amaze people the most is polyphonic voice. Hi Harrison, yes you were correct in your assumption that Diana (pronounced Dee-ana) was 15 in this performance. This was in early 2019, she has just had her 18th birthday on 31st May. The show is called "You Are Super" designed to highlight & help children from a disadvantaged background.
Diana has a Wikipedia page which will give you more information and there is also a list of songs (7 in total) which she sang on the show over two seasons in 2018 & 2019 - she won both years, the latter being a "Super Season" where previous winners and finalists were invited back. Of the songs you might try "Rechenka" (My Sweet River) in 2018 & V'yuga (Blizzard) in 2019, which will give you some idea of her range, artistry & power - although all are really top notch performances. Apart from "Rechenka" (a reworking of centuries old folk songs) all are covers - "Wicked Game" was originally done by Chris Isaac in the '90s.
Should you wish to hear more up to date (and original) songs, two singles have been released over the past few months "Into The Skies" & "Happiness" - both are sung in Russian.

It is based on Russian folktales about a young betrothed orphan girl who goes to the river, the boundary between the living and the dead, to ask her deceased mother's blessing for her marriage.

Ironically, Diana herself was an orphan who was abused and abandoned by her alcoholic mother. Because of this beginning, her speech was very undeveloped and she was given singing lessons to help improve her speech. Her talent was quickly recognized and the rest is history.

I understand that they are blocking it, but you can't miss it! in my opinion, we are watching the birth of a new star. She has a contralto voice like Cher and Shakira, but with polyphonic overtones. Imagine how she sounded as a little 10-year old girl! You can! Just search on TH-cam performance of her singing The Beatles' "Oh Darling!" Also, a must see is her performance of a Russian folk song called Rechenka, but fasten your seat belt because it's a wild ride for a couple of minutes.

Diana was born in May 2003 in Arseniev in the Far East of Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she did not love her child, abused her cruelly and tried to I drowned. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone on the street and shortly afterwards took the 3-year-old girl to an orphanage. Finally, there she found love ... from Irina Ponik. Taking a little child into the family was not easy for Irina. Her son was already 20 years old, daughter Nastya 17 years old ... Start all over now? Yes!!! Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared but she all sing songs from cartoons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started ...
During 2008 to 2012 Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions.
Diana's mother became her daughter's manager. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances, competitions, looking for sponsors is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She took extra sewing courses too. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary.
Diana impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win.
So, 2012 Irina’s family moved to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her.
In 2017 Diana went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition. A door had closed but a new door opened...
Diana entered another competition in 2018 and 2019 and won twice. This project is unique in the world, an international TV- competition: 'You are Super', especially for adopted and orphaned children.
2018 (3rd season) Diana sang 'Derniere danse' (French), 'It's a Man's Man's Man's World' (Engl.), 'The River' (Russ.), 'Tomorrow Is A Lie' (Engl.) and 2019 (super season) Diana won the Grand Prix with 'Blizzard' (Russ.), 'Wicked Game' (Engl.) and 'Human' (Engl.).
The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to TH-cam and soon she had millions of fans.
The project producers help the finalists start studying and encourage their creativity. Diana won a scholarship to the College of Music. Igor Krutoy, here as a juror, gave her a small apartment in Moscow. So, she could start her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy (She died of Covid-19 in Oct. 2020).
The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 to D6. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile… tradition meets modernity.
She loves to sing in French, but also sings in English, German, Arabic and Spanish... but only phonetically.
But she is not only a great singer and storyteller, but also a humble, intelligent and hardworking young woman. She also gives charity concerts. She loves her family and her fans. They are 'friends' to her and they are very supportive of her. Diana is grateful that they helped improve her home studio and also supported her future plans. Her Russian Friends have chosen Diana as "National Treasure" (no official title).
2020 Diana graduated from high school a year earlier with honor, as an external student and now, she is a student at the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (similar to Juilliard). She is already composing songs and we will definitely hear her own song soon.
She will only take part in major competitions if invited. Such competitions require a lot of time, effort and strength. As a result, participants often have large educational gaps and problems later on. Diana is a smart young woman. She focuses on her studies, her voice and expanding her repertoire.

Yes, she's 15 here. She's a savant polyphonic contralto - very rare. I'm very much afraid she tends to blow one away at every performance, so be prepared to be speechless again. I'd recommend Rechenka next (where she was 14).

"Derniere Danse" in French. Don't need to understand as you don't need to understand any of the foreign languages she sings in. Much like Dimash in that respect. "Human" is in English from this same show. "Rechenka" is Russian and is a stellar performance. "Havana" is a fun little diddy in English. "Tomorrow is a Lie" is in English. Enough to get you started.

She has also sung in other languages including Spanish, German and Arabic. Diana was born in Primorsky Krai, a territory of Russia, located in the Far East region of the country. I believe her ethnicity is Kazakh.
