It’s called the kennels for a reason…! Us locals know that. But we play the law of averages. Every 5 or so visits.. we normally get a surprise.. personal best sore bass, cod, conger, ray, tope (yes tope), spurdog etc.. the venue, like most of the Bristol Channel on both sides is always capable of big, sometimes once in a lifetime fish or session..

Just watched this a year ago now Lol. Fished Porlock many times and as you sadly found it is dog city. Now and again you get a decent fish but to get in the cod I always used to fish Clevedon Lady Bay ledges. In the winter I don't remember blanking to be honest and black lug tip with squid and whole squid taking the fish 👍

I've been told, because of the potential water clarity at bossington, it can throw anything at you. But when I went, I came back with no rigs lol.

I drive past stonehenge at least once a month, and I'm always more interested in the pigs on the other side of the road. Did a walk around stonehenge once and it is...just rocks

Fair play for the effort, the dogs can be apsolutly horrendous there but there are definitely big specimen fish to be had off that beach if you can get through the tackle loss and dogs

Ryhs, could be worth a try. Call Steve Ace @ Reel fun Portishead. He's knowledgeable on Bristol Channel marks and could hopefully point you in the right direction for that elusive Bullhuss. Have a great new year bud. Love your content. 🎣😉

Nice to see you hit futher down channel, top video as always.
Porlock / Bossington throws up double figure cod each year so I reckon matey's story of a 13lb one is probably true.
Shame about the dogs, they can be relentless there some days and then not many about the next tide.

You get alot of dog fish like that in the channel they stay down low somehow and feel really heavy once they hit the surface the weight comes off the current a tide run even on calm days in the Channel can be really deceptive.

Strewth you have something on your Trotters other than dodgy trainers! Want boots with decent footbed so supports feet ive Grubs boots with the vibram soles as the others are too soft and you can stud with Supatracks which have tunsten tips so hold on rocks.

My local beaches are alive with dogfish at night time. To avoid them and target codling and coalies we would use mussels as bait. I promise you dogfish do not like it at all. I have never caught one on straight mussel bait.
