Great comparison. Update from me because I promised. Finally, I did a complete paint correction with the rotary. Compounded and polished. It turned out great. Wanted to let you know. Thank you, Brian.
Brian, you such a great wealth of knowledge and patience - thx for walking all of us through the 3 options - really impressive wet sand on the LX470 - Kudos!
Love these video’s. They gave me the courage to wet sand. I just also went out and bought a flex gear driven polisher like you use in the video’s. I also love the euro fiber pads
I would interested in the paint thickness after that correction. I bet most would be amazed at how little was removed. Great results! I love these videos!!
I know what you were going to do and it’s great 👑Brian you did a wonderful job and the result speak volumes ✊Great series and I’m looking forward to seeing the next video 💎
Wet sanding with a da polisher is not for the faint of heart, good job 👍 I personally like to clay bar, compound then polish using the appropriate pads. But the wet sanding like you said gives you a smooth flat surface for the ppf which is an excellent idea
I've been very impressed with TW One and Done. I bought one bottle at Ollies for $5.99, tried it out, went back and bought 4 more because that's all they had left. Can't beat the results, especially at that price.
Kinda of surprised you went with the 1 & Done instead of Rehab. I'm a 1 & Done fan for sure, but I'm almost out and have a bottle of Rehab waiting in the wings. And frankly very impressed with what 1 & Done did on 2500 grit, I wouldn't have thought it could do it.
Great job it looks great!! If yiu could the next time you are polishing would you please show us how you clean your pads as you polish!! Thanks Brian!!
I’ve seen my uncles friend use mothers aluminum polish & a makita rotary with a wool pad cut through some pretty rough clear & come out pretty good that dude was rough he polished headlights glass everything
@@apexdetail85 just finished the video. The turnaround on that hood is incredible! Seeing the 2500 grit step was a treat. Never thought it was possible to get these results.
Brian: Ever use the Linear Block Sanding method? I'm anxious to try it. Also, would it have just been better to paint the hood? The energy is about the same, just more cost on materials. What about doing a panel prep afterwards? Could you use LVR 403 (filling capabilities) to finish and then BC ceramic coat? Love the presentation, Mitch.
Just an observation! I’m sure that you put on hearing protection while not filming to complete the paint correction. Haven’t tried the rotary with the wool pad yet. If/when one of my DA polishers fail, I’ll get a rotary or maybe just get a reasonably priced one.
Are you a fan of clear coat safe acid’s ? I’ll typically use a safe dilution and use it as my clay lube with my synthetic clay mitts ; if my pads are pulling that much contamination off after the initial test spot… your thoughts ?

Not brave enough to attempt wet sanding yet!!! 😮 TW 1andDone and some other products are at Ollie’s for super discounted price.
I was looking for how much clear you had taken off or how much you had left with sanding and polishing. Do you have that number? Specifically I run into a lot of cars with embedded minerals on hood, roof and truck. These are so bad a chemical solution with acid is incomplete as the minerals have been sucked in with the expansion and cooling. Polishing is too aggressive heat wise and honestly I’ve reticent to sand. I’m thinking I need a couple of practice hoods with thin clear and experiment. Plus.. some of the new cars and trucks are starting with very thin paint. Recently had a 2024 Tacoma already trashed from parking near sprinklers.
A few more paint correction videos to come on the Lexus....stay tuned.
Thank you!
Good choice on the flex for this unit!! These are the ones I find most interesting and challenging, bringing them back from the abyss!!
Great job love the wet sanding and polishing videos.
Massive black paint transformations are the most rewarding to do. I love doing them probably just as much as you Brian! ✨💪🏼
Correcting trashed paint are my favorite videos.
Well. there will be plenty of them on the way. I have a lot of dark color auction cars and trucks on the way.
wow prolly the best video that you've done.....love the before and after
Much more to come.
Terrific tutorial, Brian. I really learned some additional techniques here... thank you.
Shine on you crazy diamond! 🚘
Amazing transformation without having to re-paint!
I’m impressed, nice, thanks Brian 👍😁

Yes!!! Cheers! :)

My pleasure!
Always an educational lesson Brian, thank you !!!
The Detail King is at it again! I can't wait to do some wet sanding and bring the Gloss out on my Alpina!
B7? I want pics!!

I believe I did that in the video on this thing.

The little palm sanders would be a safer choice.

It’s a great price!
I really love this style of LX. Great video!
Me too!
That's a proper turnaround 😳👌
A bit better than it was. :)
Great results!
So far...so good
WOW! WOW! WOW!

I need to order more Rehab....used it all up. :)

Will do.
@apexdetail85 thanks Brian!!
very cool video as always!

Metal polish abrasives are very aggressive and will cut paint (plastic) fast.
Unbelievable improvement Brian! I didn’t realize the paint on the hood was as bad as it was…
Many years of neglect....unfortunately.
Excellent video Brian. Thanks. What tape do you use to mask? Is it just painters tape from Lowe's or auto-specific?
My favorite is 3M precision. It is a mint green color.
@@apexdetail85 Thanks man!
Question for you. Have you ever tried using Buffandshines Grey Uro wool blend pad. That per.Buff and shine can be used on all polishers.
The shop manager is observing the progress. 😂
She mostly observes the back of her eyelids. :)
Looking forward to this one! Brian, what did you use for the clay process? Bar, therapy putty or towel? Was it even needed?
I used the Auto scrub system.
@@apexdetail85 just finished the video. The turnaround on that hood is incredible! Seeing the 2500 grit step was a treat. Never thought it was possible to get these results.
This is gonna be fun

Re-painting is out of the option with most owners...but both will take some time to do.
Brian would you also consider using lvr403 on the sanded hood ?
Yes....another great option.
It looks great. Is your flex polisher doing okay? It seems to be bouncing or vibrating quite a bit.
I didnt have the pad on perfectly centered.
What grit of sandpaper did you use?
In this case...2500 grit.
@@apexdetail85 ok thanks. I get a little nervous when Sanding.

Looking great! I had no idea the Turtle Wax Platelet could do that!
A very underrated polish for the price.
@@apexdetail85 ya man, that polish and the Urober 50/50👌🏼
A couple of times you mentioned the product breaking down or hasn't broken down. How can you tell when the product has or has not broken down?
If you see any dusting whatsoever...the product has dried out and broken down.
Look,s good Brain😊😊

On occasion. on hard clear.
Try meguiars ultra polishing black, yellow, burgundy pads, frank in norridge, ill

5 -10 microns. not a whole lot. I believe I show in an upcoming video....stay tuned.
👍 Dam! 👍
Our company has been buying 10-12year old European cars, mostly BMW. For timely results I have no choice but sand down and polish up
A lot of neglect can occur in just 10 years. Cheers!
99% not going to get it we got have100 over here I like that
If this wasn’t officially a car flipping channel I would’ve recommended just removing and repainting the hood. That thing is toast!!
Original peint...these days...goes a long way. Stay tuned.
