actually, the fix is replacing the compressor. Most of the time it’s next to impossible to find just an AC compressor clutch. Taking a hammer to it may fix it temporarily but, if it’s stuck once it will stick again. Save the time and hassle replace compressor
Mine doesn’t have that nut and the plate disintegrated and the av still works and i can see the bearings,I ordered a new ac clutch bearing kit with clutch plate and solenoid i just hope it last till i get it while getting to work.
It stuck in. Just need to bang it with a hammer.. the two metal plates rub and stuck by friction. That happens if u run your ac with a bad alternater and low battery. The clutch would not have the power to close tightly and slips then burn out and welt to each other
You didn't mention whether or not you had the ignition switch on because if you do it will energize the coil and pull the clutch in oh, well let me rephrase that on some make and model vehicles you can have the ignition switch in the Run position and engage and disengage the clutch without it running
When the clutch gets burned up does the system get contaminated ? I want to know the likelihood of needing to replace other parts like condenser , dessicant bag . drier ? I've got a 15 Ford Fusion 2.5 L . Clutch looks bad the clutch material is coming out the front
Clutch mechanism is independent from the internals. If your compressor seized up then yes the system would need to be cleaned and receiver dryer/ condenser replaced
The ac compressor isn't supposed to run all the time. When your ac compressor doesn't need to run the clutch in the middle disengages allowing the the pully to spin freely without turning the compressor. When your compressor clutch engages it locks down onto the pully and allows the belt to turn the compressor. The middle part is attached to the inside of the compressor. So if you have a compressor outside of the vehicle and you turn the inside you will be turning the actual compressor
@@aidanmorgan6291 can this cause an over heat ? My jeep summit has been over heating ac work and all and I was looking at the pulley with the AC on and it would randomly stop then go again
@user-ue1ef7up1w your ac compressor shouldn't turn on and off when ac is running. However I don't believe an ac compressor would be the root cause of your overheating issue. I'd check the radiator fans and make sure they kick on. You could also have a bad thermostat. Are you loosing coolant and have you had any repairs done recently?
@@TEVIDEOS ahh would make sense my truck sat for while before I bought it. Do i have to evacuate the entire system then fill it up to find the leak or can i just add some leak dye or whatever?
There are specific spacer shims made for ac compressor. They typically give you a bunch because you have to find out how many you need in order for it to work
😂 my 96 caprice has the same issue… but instead it will seize up only when in idle. When going 5 mph and up I’m good. But it’s sooo annoying being at a light and that mf gets to squealing it’s so embarrassing. How did you fix the problem?
I may not be a smart man, but I believe you may be right on this one 😂
This is a classic. Great analysis.
If its a shop they wont try to fix it they would get you a new one. More convenient and saves them time and mire cars done for the day.

I love the energy
Oh she'll come loose mate whack it with a rubber mallet she'll disengage no problem lol

You must've forgot the spacers. Most packages come with a few different widths.
hmmm, yep yep I concur...
Good mechanics are like honest politicians, their rare 😅 Love your logic
What does clearance mean
They forgot the washer spacer on the clutch

mine is fucked up too.
Put one warsher for the space between clutch and pully they shouldn't be stic each other
My 2019 123000m impala ac clutch just went out 2 months ago.. and i live in texas😅

@@TEVIDEOS you think it seized up ? That’s the only explanation to burned up clutch ?
Hahaha I needed that
It looks new. Who fud it up?
When forrest gump is also your mechanic….
Why does the outside move independent of the inner side

What does it mean if my low pressure side is 30 psi and high pressure side is 25 psi and my clutch not engaging?
Low pressure. Possible leak?

You probably need another shim in there
Does anyone know how I can remove a ripped belt that’s wrapped around an air conditioner compressor pulley ? Any help will do
A knife?
Hmmmm yaaaaa
You're right its fucked up!
That part is sold in auto parts stores.
Just a tip.dont buy reman compressors and always change expansion valve bc it will blow colder and it's an extra way to make money.
What about a compressor without a clutch?
Cmon now listen up, I know many fucked up things around here. That there son, is fucked up
It’s just missing the shim.

Same issue I’m having except it’s with my roadie
Man bro I ripped that mf out and put a bypass on it!😂@@Anthony0899
