Good morning Patrick and Autumn 🤶🎄🎅 Wow! That playground in the backyard must have some great memories. You feed those worms like it's bootcamp and they just got back from a 10 mile jog! Happy Thanksgiving to you all 🦃
Good Morning Peggy!! You're right, that playground has so many memories for me, Autumn and our three sons!! Towards the end I was using it as my shed and sharing it with the squirrels as they used it to go from tree to playground to pool cage to my roof across to front yard trees!! I'll build another one once we start getting grandchildren!! That is a hilarious, but accurate description of how I feed my worms!! Thanks so much for watching!!🪱🪱🪱
Nice hori hori! Haha 😂more cranberries 🤦♂️besides that nice feeding Patrick. I think the castings should get a boost from the leaves. Loofah sponge broke down really well in the garden bed
I love that garden knife!! I had to get one after seeing you use it!! I know, I know...more cranberries😂 We head up North to pick every year so the worms get to have a go at it again!! There are still some trree branches with leaves on them lying around so I might pick up some more. I really like how they look in your natural worm bin! Thanks so much for watching Rick!!🪱🪱🪱

I would imagine the Floofah in the worm bin will decompose quicker because of the density of the biology, however, this will be a pretty good indicator of how alive with biology your garden soil is, you may be surprised with the results. I have a few dozen luffas stored for worm food over the winter, actually they are pretty high in nutrients. We finally got a hard freeze and will stay cold, so I can now use mother nature to preserve the worm food from my garden for the worms. With all that lumber from the jungle gym, you could build some more garden beds, lol. Glad you had minimal damage from the hurricanes, has to be scary!!!! Wishing you and your family a worm and loving Thanksgiving ! Stay Well Patrick !!!!
Thanks Brian!! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well!! I think we are all going to be surprised by the results!! I'm about to dig into the Urban Worm Bag to find out how the big shower Floofah did! I love growing loofah...no matter what it just grows; pest pressure, heat, lack of water, none of that matters down here and it is about the only thing growing besides okra in July & August. That's a good idea for the lumber, I saved a bunch incase we need to board up the windows next hurricane season!! Thanks so much for all your support Brian!!🪱🪱🪱
@@Vermicompost Out of the dozens of luffa gourds I harvest, a small fraction turn into sponges. OK by me, zone 5a not the best place to grow luffa. I agree, once they take off nothing really stops them, I love their flowers. I would love to send you some Cardinal climber seeds, they may even be perennial down by you. The cardinal climbers have delicate leaves, like a fern, and awesome small red trumpet flowers, a favorite for the hummingbirds. I have still yet to harvest this years seeds, let me know. Stay Well!!!
I feel sorry for you guys living in the US with all those hurricanes, thank God you and your family are safe, interesting video, and looks like the worm bag recieved a very nutricious feeding😂
Thank you for the well wishes & blessings!! Believe it or not the anticipation of where it hits has been the hardest part of dealing with hurricanes in my 35 years in Florida. This was the first one that I actually experienced hurricane force winds! I don't live near the coast or in a low lying area so winds or hurricane induced tornadoes would be the biggest issue for me, not any kind of flooding. We do have it all here in the US with such a big land mass whether it is hurricanes, tornados, or earthquakes!! I threw just about everything at this worm bin this times, including the kitchen sink...sponge!! Thanks so much for dropping by to watch!!🪱🪱🪱
😂🤣😂 I totally believe it!! It's like a fortress for the worms...they love hiding in it and it never gets fully broken down!! Thanks for the good laugh!!🪱🪱🪱
Patrick, it's reassuring you and the worms made it through this hurricane season unscathed. I think the compost is a great neighbour in case you get wandering worms and critters. Can they live there all year? When my bins were next to our compost they got some rougher than usual carbon added and some compost. The only new critters were a few spiders, who kept other critters out, I suppose. ~ Sandra
Yes, very happy to be done with this hurricane season! I'm still a little torn about where to put it...the compost bin doesn't provide it as much shade as I'd like, so it's been hiding in the shadow of my new raised garden bed which is much longer than the compost bin. It's kind of in the way there & I'm eventually going to put mulch down which will elevate it into the sunlight. So the search for a perfect spot continues!! That is good to hear that your bins did well near your compost...I'm much less afraid of spiders than I am of palmetto bugs...but my compost attracts a lot more of the later!! Thanks so much for dropping by to watch Sandra!!🪱🪱🪱
😂🤣😂 We moved those cupcake toppings about 10 times during my Air Force career...there was no chance she was going to use them anytime soon😂🤣😂 I just hadn't thought of her emotional attachment to them!! I hope the worms like our oak leaves...not quite as pretty as the golden and red leaves you have!!! Thanks so much for stopping by to watch AV!!🪱🪱🪱
Great update Patrick. I hear you cannot be scared of spiders if you are a cranberry farmer. They supposedly crawl all over you when they are wet harvested. Is it true?
100% true!! Although with all the racket going on they tell me you really can't feel them...it's when you get home and get undressed that the nightmare begins😂🤣😂 The bogs are an ecosystem of all kinds of creatures and the machine that the cranberries are sucked through doesn't have any internal blades. As they come out with the water the bad berries along with the snakes, mice and other critters are spit into one truck and the ripe berries are spit into a bigger truck. Everyone gets to live a new life somewhere else!! It really is a fascinating operation both wet and dry picking!! Thanks for dropping by to watch Joe!!🪱🪱🪱
your going to have a lot of lettuce very soon!. Nice video, my guess is that the wormbin went through the floofa quicker. Interesting result from the garden though.
