    • @MOAB-UT
      @MOAB-UT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would just unplug the left wire and select the source as Mono whenever possible. After a few days, you will adjust to a slightly less full sound BUT go to bed smiling- less ringing. "Take care of that ear now, while you can." It has the potential to get m u c h worse. Trust me. I heard a story of an up and coming guitar player. He was finally getting pretty good but basically had to stop doing what he truly l o v e d. Oh wait, that was me. In the meantime, wearing ear plugs daily really helps. Mack's are great and you get used to them.
      Nice car by the way- my next one might be an M3.

      S..t, have tinnitus in left ear as well, at the beginning I couldn't sleep. I try to noisy environment as much as possible, and YT and TV commercials drive me crazy, as they are good few dBs higher in level.

    • @MOAB-UT
      @MOAB-UT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pliedtka Use an earplug in that ear (often) and 100%, scoot the headphone cup OFF your left ear (move towards the back of your head- thicker skull area than in front.) If not, you will likely live to regret it in time.
      As a daily guitar player who uses headphones and plug-ins often, I understand the sound (stereo) is not as full or satisfying, BUT you do get use to it- a new normal. Your ear will thank you and you will sleep better. If possible, set the track to mono from the source so you don't miss any sound information.
      You might also want to look into Magnesium L-Threonate and Vit. D (together) and exercise with deep breathing (vagus nerve activation.) This can lower BP which is known to help. I'm not a doctor or expert and this is not advise, but all these things have seemed to help me. Know this, prevention is far better than cure. Sometimes I miss the full sound of playing a real guitar amp or play a few sets in a band, but when I do...I very quickly regret it (for weeks.)

    The “problem” with the 58X and 6XX is if you’re now hooked on hi-end audio and want to “upgrade” you’ll probably have to spend three or four times as much, if not more. People keep saying the Focal Clear is the next logical step. USD$220 >>>> $1500, really? These people need to give me access to their bank accounts because that’s a VW beetle to Porsche turbo jump.

    • @4lc441
      @4lc441 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Anyone who says you need a Focal Clear to get an upgrade is just wrong lol. The 6XX is not better than every headphone on the market under $1500... I hear people say that the Focal Elex is the natural upgrade from the 6XX because it's got a similar sound signature, though I haven't heard it. But other great options that are well under $1500 include stuff like the LCD-2C, the Hifiman Sundara, Hifiman Ananda, Monolith M1060, Fostex TH-X00 and probably many others that I'm not even aware of. Many of those have totally different sound signatures from the 6XX, so that's another reason why it isn't the be all end all.

    • @shiyu84

      I have the Focal Clear and I prefer the Hd650 XD Trebles are much smoother and the listening more natural on sennheiser. I like my focal but trebles peaks and dips are annoying. You miss details and get some harshness...

    • @tareqhaider6327
      @tareqhaider6327 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tripokaridos22 The challenge is getting large 3D soundstage without losing what 6X0 are great at.There are more capable headphones but a few headphones produce sound as satisfying as 6X0 series and even less without breaking the bank. LCD-2 and Auteur are around $800+ and $1600+ respectively and have that signature that works with most genre and are satisfying to listen to but they only thing that LCD-2 do noticeably better is Bass and Autuer afaik does eveything better than a 6X0 but not by large margin.So they are what they are and unless Sennheiser listens to the customers and goes back to drawing board and works on what we want as HD600S or HD650S,these headphones are not going anywhere and Sennheiser knows that.

    • @cowboyflipflopped
      @cowboyflipflopped 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tareqhaider6327 The HD650s have been around for 17 years now. In that time, the price has dropped very substantially (if you count the HD6XX). There's just nothing like the value you get for your money. The graphed increase in quality for spending more money is a very long, slow rise from there. Even Sennheiser can't beat its value. I can understand some people who just need an energetic sound with deep bass not caring for them. But for jazz, classical, acoustic, and classic rock, they're just amazing-- esp at the price. Put them with a JDS stack or Element, and you're done.

    I finally have my pair of HD 6XXs and I LOVE these. It's amazing. What's funny is I don't have a "proper" DAC yet but I'm using a Sennheiser GSX 1000 with a Schiit Vali tube amp and it sounds so nice. I agree with everything here. It's very intimate and makes deeper vocals like Tim Foust, Avi Kaplan, Geoff Castalluci sound amazing. My AKG K712 Pros still sound more resolving and have a wider soundstage with sound that feels like it starts further from your head so it makes you feel more surrounded by the music with all of the details like piano, guitar and other instruments coming through very detailed so in some cases I still prefer them. However it's awesome to have the ability to listen to music and movies from these different cans. Cheers.

    I love my HD6XX. They're basically on my head for 8-9 hours a day at work. They're easy to listen to and comfortable. They are quite veiled, which is obvious when you listen to some flagships side by side with the 6XX. Now the trouble is figuring out what to upgrade to. LCD-1 would be a good upgrade if it was built better and more comfortable. Probably leaning toward 660s or just spending more and getting a pair of Focal Clear or ZMF. Areas that can be improved on for me: soundstage / imaging, detail / resolution, and probably a less forward midrange.

    I use the atom stack to power my 6XX as well as my my Hifiman HE4XX. I love the 6XX and I think that using them for long music sessions is a joy. But for some reason I just cant say that I like them for movies and video games.... With dialogue it just sounds like someone is speaking right into a microphone, right next to my ear. To the point that it actually pulls me out of the experience sometimes. By comparison, the soundstage on the 4XX is SO much bigger, which makes movies and games sound incredible.
    Don't get me wrong, I think that with any music, and certain genres in particular like classical or more vocal specific stuff, the 6XX is unmatched. But I think that anyone who has the HD 6XX aught to have a pair of 4XXs as well. Especially considering how inexpensive they both are. At least that's my opinion.

Developments in pleasing and natural DACs and transparent amplification have been far more significant over the last 10, 20, 30 years than developments in transducers and acoustics, outside of the super high end stuff. I hate how much value the 6xx has but costs much more for us in Europe because of added customs taxes and Customs Police's fee. It would have been much better buying a 650 as it costs the same like 6xx with customs taxes and all. Plus, you don't need to wait ages for it to arrive whereas with 6xx you must contact the customs department and send a few papers regarding your intention with the product to the policemen since it's not from EU zone and if you get lucky that it doesn't get into customs dept., then there's a post office where you can spend half a day just for one product to pick up (if you live in a big city). That's why there are so many people preferring the 650 over 6xx.

    What a coincidence. I just bought these about a month ago. Prior to these I was using the Pc350 SEs on a Mayflower O2/ODAC combo. I haven't had a ton of time to really experience them but I really do enjoy them so far. They are my first open back headphone and I definitely notice the difference.
    I'm not a basshead by any means but I would say it's lacking by just a touch except at higher volumes and some minor eq adjustments. I wasn't super happy with how eq mucked with the rest of the sound range so I'll probably get something a bit more high end in the future. Overall I would agree these are fantastic for someone looking to get into more open back headphones especially if all you really know is "gaming" headsets.

    Treble doesn't roll off on the 6XX man. At least not within human audible range. It's pretty much flat to nearly 20 kHz. For anybody doubting this, here's a nice review and measurements of the HD650 - different versions of it too - where you can clearly see flat extension to 18-19 kHz: diyaudioheaven.wordpress.com/headphones/measurements/brands-s-se/hd650/
    However, many could argue that that the highs are somewhat recessed on the 650/6XX vs the bass and mids and that may be somewhat true depending on where you are coming from. I would say it's slightly warm leaning, but by no means lacking treble presence. Just slightly on the warm side, yet still more neutral and accurate than most headphones. HD600 has a more neutral treble presence, but also a bit too much shout around 3 kHz

      Norton Family I bought the Arya and it was laughably bad, bass roll of (fixable with EQ) and tons of peaks and dips in the high frequencies to fake soundstage (not fixable via EQ). The Arya is such a scam I lost faith in the ears of many TH-cam reviewers.

    • @nortonfamily6711
      @nortonfamily6711 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Krmpfpks The Sundara is not the Arya; idk why youre even drawing such a comparison. In the mid-fi price range, the Sundara is king until you get to about 600 bucks, and even still its better than some 600 dollar headphones in most departments. It thoroughly trounces the 6xx, to the point where it justifies the $150 difference between them imo. Better bass extension, better detail retrieval, better soundstage and imaging, better tonality across the board (the mids and treble are fucking gorgeous on the Sundara considering its price), tighter and more impactful bass, etc.
      You could make the argument about qc with the Sundara, but it feels like Hifiman has really stepped up their game with build quality and quality control recently. The Sundara is already far more solidly built than most of Hifiman's headphones that came before it, and while there were a bunch of driver failure issues with the original model when it just came out, they have since made stealth revisions that supposedly fixed the issues commonly experienced with these headphones. That being said, I've only owned the Sundara for several months, so I can't say too much on that front with my current experience yet.

    • @Krmpfpks
      @Krmpfpks 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Norton Family thank you for your opinion. I have not tested the sundara and after your comment I surely will test it. You can imagine after my disappointment in the Arya I did not really feel the need to test another hifiman - they are not readily available in showrooms here in Germany.

      @@Krmpfpks Yeah, after you commented I checked out the frequency response of the Arya, and it was strange to be sure. I can see where you're coming from with your opinion. If such a high-end headphone from Hifiman is a letdown, that doesn't exactly instill confidence in their cheaper products. However, they truly did do something special with the Sundara, and I hope you are able to test it soon.
