    I've used the 6xx on my pc setup without an Amp and they sounded phenomenal so if you're wanting to get the 6xx's but don't have enough money for an Amp atm you can get those headphones, it just won't be super duper clear when your wanting to blast your ear drums out. Listening to stuff at normal level and mid-high range sounds really, really good. Can't reccomend enough.

    • @omjviper5835
      @omjviper5835 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its a bit late, but do you think without an amp it would still be very good for gaming? Ive been using steelseries 7 for a while and want a new headset and i really dont like what " gaming" headphones atm nothing seems really better than my steelseries.

    • @liiou4445
      @liiou4445 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@omjviper5835 you dont really need an amp as long as the headphone reaches a reasonable volume, which the 6xx will do with the amp in your computer

      @@liiou4445 what about with a PS5? will it be enough without a amp?

    • @HeyNavi
      @HeyNavi ปีที่แล้ว

      @@omjviper5835 go with the 58x if you haven’t already bought the 6xx. I have both but the 6xx is terrible for gaming be cuz of its poor imaging. Not to say it’s a bad headphone. It amazing for music, movies and entertainment and for casual games but definitely not for competitive fps games. 58x while the sound stage is similar, it has very good imaging, seperation, layering, and depth and you can tell where things are with the “small” soundstage provided. Quotation marks on small because it’s small for open back headphone but definitely wider than any closed back headphones and still sounds spacious.

    • @PartyMusic775
      @PartyMusic775 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HeyNavi Not wider than closed-back Beyerdynamics DT-770 250. Price and sound quality on that and HD58X are very very close. For anyone considering which of those to get, here are the pros and cons: DT770: closed-back means sound isolation, none gets in or out; better soundstage, better sub-bass, crispier sparkly treble. HD58X: more neutral tuning, more organic natural sound, micro-slightly better detail resolution?, non-fatiguing cozy romantic feel to the music. If you put a gun to my head to pick one for my ONLY headphones I'd really hesitate but maybe pick the 58X, but that's just based on me slightly preferring that cozy organic natural. The 58X really shine at classic rock.
      With that said, an interesting variant is to go for planars like Hifiman HE400 series or Sundara or HE560 if you've got a little more money. They are slightly less lush than the two dynamics mentioned, especially the 58X. But the better soundstage and detail are an impressive notch up in those areas. As in "wow".

    Excellent review Brian! My 58X is finally coming in either today or tomorrow. And now the rabbit-holing really begins, because I might need a DAC to get the most out of these. But my setup is PC audio out (3.5mm) to my Technics stereo receiver, and my headphones plug into that. There's plenty of amplification for sure, but I don't know if adding a DAC will improve the sound quality.

    What would be a good budget dac amp combo for the hd58x I’m looking at getting a pair of them just not sure if my motherboard audio could really bring the potential out of them

    It's funny that you hear the 6xx as being a bright headphone when the consensus is that they are a darker sound signature compared to other Senn offerings. It goes to show how everyone hears things differently and you should demo headphones before purchasing if possible

    • @badseedtech
      @badseedtech  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh most definitely. The HD 58X sounds waaaay more veiled to me personally. It's also why I'm fearful to tread into audiophile reviews. I've listened to reviewers rave about certain phones and they sounded WILDLY different to me after I bought them.... eventually I've learned to know the reviewers well enough to make an educated decision but sometimes I feel like that's too steep (and expensive) a learning curve for me to put my viewers through.
      It's definitely an area where I will step lightly going forward.

      @@badseedtech I don't envy you on that front. Subjectivity turns into objective war declarations on the internet. Great video production by the way.

    Great Content, keep it up!. Also I'm looking forward to watch your next video as I currently have the 58x with the gsx1000 and it sounds great, but i think maybe there could exist a better amp/dac for the 58X, even for gaming purposes.

    Looking forward to seeing what you think of the GSX-1000 for the HD58X and the Nari Ultimates 🤔 I’m sure the surround would be great on both but I’m eager to know what situations you’d prefer the haptics or the overall better sound from the 58X. Keep up the great videos man, you know your shit and for me you’re up there with Hardware Canucks

    • @badseedtech
      @badseedtech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haptics are fun - sometimes - but for $200 you can have some REALLY nice headphones. I'd go for pure quality audio over haptics.

      Right, its like a hypnotist's pendulum. Your eyes are getting very heavy...heavy..heavy. Concentrate on my voice... Buy sennheiser 58x, or Buy sennheiser 6xx... Theyre both great. Theyre both super values. When i snap my fingers, you will awake feeling refreshed, like a great weight has been lifted from your chest. And you will nolonger be familiar with the brands beyerdynamic nor audio technica. You will forget them. Sennheiser...sennheiser! *snap*

    Very good review and info. New subscriber. Just picked up the 58x because of the 150 ohm vs 300 ohm. I'd like the option to use my phone without an amp on occasion.

    Brian, I for sure am a bad seed shill and will always recommend you as a great watch to anyone. I can’t believe how much your camera work has improved man. You haven’t been this consistent with content in a while. When you came back with the new beard, it was like a revival for the channel. Keep it up dude I’m glad you’re back!

    • @badseedtech

      I appreciate the support more than you know, man. Don't normally talk about it but the beard is symbolic. The day I decided to grow it, I was coming out of some heavy real-life shit. It marked a revival for me on a lot of levels. There's a warrior behind that beard. It's awesome that you've been there since jump. This year is gonna be one for the books.

      BadSeed Tech Bro I’m looking forward to the growth. I’m glad you got your personal life sorted enough to come back. Remember that you always have to go through trials to get to where you’re meant to be. This year I just moved to NYC I’m starting a new job and having my first kid. A lot of change coming my way. I’m glad that you’re back dude. I wish you nothing but the best and look forward to seeing Bad Seed tech coverage at future CES and Computex Expos.
