The Truck Market Finally COLLAPSED. And Buyers are DONE Overpaying!

  • I traveled to several dealerships to show you guys what current inventory and easily identifiable discounts look like. Not only are interest rates super high right now but MSRPs have gotten out of control. Thankfully many of the dealers are finally coming back down to Earth on their pricing below MSRP.
    Thoughts?

I fail to understand why am i liable to pay the dealer fees? Is it mandated by the govt or the manufacturer? Then what is this MSRP from the manufacturer? It holds no value actually.Stop paying all these extra fees or markups and walk out of the showroom.

@@EktaGolpoBolarChhilo dealer doc fee is strictly extra profit to the dealer. If its printed onto the actual buyer's order, it cannot be crossed out. What you do, is negotiate your final price having them assume you are paying the fee, and then refuse in an attempt to have them deduct it off the top line (you basically deduct it off the top then add it back on so essentially its a wash). The dealer may call your bluff and let you walk, while others will acquiesce. Just have to try.

No, at least I don’t think what I do when making this type of video is click bait. I’m just genuinely curious what dealer lots look like. Back in high school and college I use to walk around lots every once in a while also just to see what vehicles and pricing look like. It’s just now hilarious to be more involved in the automotive world and recognize some of the discrepancies between dealers and towns. Especially right now where vehicles pricing has outpaced the value that they provide. I think enough people have mentioned that they hadn’t realized some of what these videos show and now instead of buying new they’re just going to keep the vehicles they currently have running. Maybe I’m off base but that’s at least my perspective. 🤷‍♂️🤪

4Runners are still flying off the lots, but Tacomas and Tundras are sitting. They have too many and no one is buying. No one wants a 4 banger turbo that’s 25k over priced.
I recently bought a 2024 4Runner, they had two, a Pro and a ORP that I had reserved and literally arrived that day. I bought the ORP, so they only had one 4 Runner. They also had 29 Tacomas. The Manager said they couldn’t sell Tacomas or Tundras. And it was weird because there was a Toyota supply shortage, they had zero Camrys on the lot, yet they had rows and rows of a Tacomas. Salesman were just standing around because they had no inventory to sell.. but they had 29 Tacomas 😂

They’ve backed out about $17k to $18k as stated but they are still WAAAAAY out of my price range. After the last UAW contract the big three signed off on I wouldn’t be surprised if this is their bottom dollar. All I can say is let this train wreck continue. The only auto workers that benefited out of this was the most senior employees. All the younger guys get sent to the house, more than likely permanently if they have to come back under the rules of this recent contract.

      @Doc1855 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@justinstiff5641 If you haven’t had the Overland Torque Tune (OTT) installed yet, I HIGHLY Recommend it.
Your Tacoma will no longer “hunt” for the right gears.
It also increases your horsepower and torque by 25 and your torque curve will begin at 2,300 RPM, instead of 3,800 RPM.
Your mpg will increase by 1-3 mpg.
We took our (my) TRD to Montana this past May to look at property to buy and build our retirement home on.
Anyhow the speed limit in most of MT is 80, so I had my cruise set on 85mph and I was getting 22mpg.
Here in Washington state our speed limit is 70, so I set my cruise on 75 and I’m getting 24mpg.
I use to get 17-18 around town but now I consistently get 19-20.
My truck came with the TRD Performance exhaust.
I also added a cold air intake.
I currently have 318 horsepower and 295 lb ft of torque.
I Hate the black leather so I’m saving up to have Katzkin make Lava Red Leather seat covers.
After Katzkin removes the black factory leather, I’m going to buy a “blood pressure cuff”, have it installed under the Red Leather seat covers for a better Lumbar Support for both front seats, as the factory lumbar support just doesn’t cut it.
A friend of mine who also has a 23 TRD, but he doesn’t have the Premium pkg, so he’s buying the black leather seat covers from me to install in his truck.
My truck is White (I couldn’t find one in Barcelona Red), so I’m having my truck 2 toned in Barcelona Red, following the lower body lines.
My last pickup was a 11 Ford Ranger XLT super cab 4WD.
We bought it used with only 20K miles in 2019. It was silver, (we Hate silver, grey, charcoal grey and black), so I had it 2 toned in Red metallic and pinstriped in Red.
I bought neoprene seat covers for it in Red with black trim. It had custom wheels, a FlowMaster exhaust and a K&N intake.
I added air shocks on the rear as it was mainly used for work around our property.
It was a very unique looking pickup and I got tons of compliments on it.
I think that Bronze or Gold wheels will look great on my 2 toned Tacoma.
I made some good investments when I was younger so I was able to retire when I was 43. I’m pushing 60 now. I only drive 6-8K miles per year and I plan on keeping my 23 TRD until I die.
I’m quite sure that my wife will be using my Tacoma to plow the 5-7 feet of snow off our private road until her death.
We usually keep our vehicles for 15-20 years or 250K - 300K miles.
I’ll probably be dead before I get to 80.
Anyhow, make sure you check out the OTT. Your transmission will become buttery smooth.
Also check out either a FlowMaster Flow FX or an AWE dual exhaust system for your TRD.
You’ll notice a difference in your performance and mpg.
The AWE is a true dual exhaust from your exhaust manifold to the rear of your truck.
Both the FlowMaster and the AWE doesn’t give you that in cabin drone At highway speeds.
Another thing that you’ll notice is that if you use your truck for hauling in the bed often, your rear leaf springs will get fatigued.
Either have an “Add a Leaf” installed (it will increase the height of the rear of your truck by 1” - 1.5” inches.
Or you can have adjustable air shocks installed.
Personally I prefer an air shocks. Just add air whenever you’re hauling so the rear of your truck doesn’t sag. Then just let the air back down to 20-25 lbs.
Because we get so much snow in our area, I put 300# of sand bags over the rear axle in the winter for better traction.
I’m quite sure that I’ll soon have to replace the shocks with air shocks.
Now that you have 30K miles have your front and rear differential, transfer case and transmission fluids changed. Then Toyota recommends that you do it every 60K miles afterwards.
I personally have mine changed every 30K miles because not only is my truck used for light duty work around our property, but we also take it on Service and Forest roads at least twice a month during the summer.
Toyota recommends that you change the oil and filter every 10K miles, but do it Every 5K miles.
Because I don’t drive very much I change the oil and filter every 6 months or 5K miles.
The most mileage I ever got out of 1 of my Toyota’s was 488K miles.
That was on my first ever Toyota, which was a 78 Corolla (I bought it in 83 for my college car and it died in 02, which I replaced it with a new Camry.
I drove that Camry until 11 when my needs changed and that’s when I bought a new RAV Limited 4WD with the 3.5L V6.
I sold it after I bought my 23 TRD that I currently drive.
My wife drove her Camry for 18 years until a couple of years ago when I bought her a new Outback for her 50th birthday.
I know that the Subaru won’t last as long as a Toyota, but at the time it was safer and had a far superior AWD traction than a Toyota and she had always wanted an Outback.
She doesn’t know it yet but when it wears out, I’ll buy her another AWD Toyota of some sort.
Have a Great Day and I’m glad you’re loving your Tacoma !
      Cheers

But I know what you mean: you would think the dealers would try to adapt to current reality. It just makes me think that something insidious might be going on.

Haha, in the past few days finally watching a lot of videos on the 4th gen I realize I currently probably need more back seat room, so maybe a 6th gen 4Runner would be a more appropriate Toyota change. I just drove a current gen TRD PRO (2 videos coming soon) and man do I like mid sized Toyota body on frame vehicles lol.

17k off does not bring it down to what these vehicles should be worth. Another big factor is how cheap they are made majority of vehicles are plastic and super thin layer for exterior. Imagine how bad the engine material is? Why should people pay 750, a month for something that was 350~400 a month. Who in the Fk wants to pay over a thousand plus insurance and gas? Then the outrageous tag taxes depending where you live? It’s like the consumer is being ripped apart by a pack of wild animals in every direction. Outrageous car payment, outrageous insurance payments, high outrageous gas prices, high outrageous maintenance prices, who the fk has money to pay 2000k for a dumb vehicle? That’s way over the top. Then you go to the grocery store and you get fkd over again and again. How about your water and electricity? Seriously the United slavery of America.

Cars trucks and all vehicles are all so over priced. Then when all models have a slow down on all models and stop selling well the dealers will typically make up a hand written eye catching bill board claiming that there is a great savings? The reality is all vehicles are very expensive and very over priced. Imagine paying sixty or seventy thousand dollars for an automobile that will rapidly depreciate? Anything I buy will have to cost much less and be sold at an auction yard.

Absolutely agree! I can’t believe so many people have been willing to go along with it to the point that we now have 50-60k mid sized trucks and 70k full size trucks with cloth seats lol. 🤦‍♂️😬

@AutomotiveAnonymous208 I looked at some new vehicles at a GM dealership around the fourth of July. The full size pickup trucks were window sticker priced at seventy and eighty thousand dollars. I thought that was unbelievable. I can't figure out how individuals in my area afford such high priced automobiles. And then I walked by the Yukon and suburbans and the prices were thru the roof at like 90 thousand. Unbelievable?
