I bought a pot with less than 12 inches tall from a backyard grower, no roots, i cut them to 4-6 inches, planted in clay pots in April, i harvested 25 fruits by August. Big heavy fruits and sweet, plump. Dark Reddish purple inside, each fruit weighed about 1-1.8 lbs each

Glad to see the collab! Been following you for a couple years due to growing citrus trees, avocados, and figs. This year I added dragon fruit cuttings and been following Richard. Man, I learn so much from both of you- glad you guys have this passion. Looking forward to all my cuttings rooting so I can have DF next year. Growing 5 varieties and all are self fertile to help with the learning curve. One day I’ll jump over to Haley’s comet or physical graffiti. Thanx again for making this video!
Thank you SO MUCH FOR THE COMPLIMENT & years of support! Try writing Richard Le at one of the ‘Grafting Dragon Fruit’ social links I included above: Facebook, Instagram and/ or Twitter for fastest response. Charles 🐉👍
Thanks for this video. I started growing dragon fruit in my greenhouse about a year ago. I've learned so much about growing and grafting dragon fruit from watching Richard's TH-cam channel and his Facebook group.
Thanks for the compliment!!! Richard has a limitless knowledge for dragon fruit! I’m so glad to have got to meet him in person & to incorporate some of his favorite varieties into our backyard orchard! Charles 🤩
I am very interested in this channel because it provides a lot of information about how to cultivate dragon fruit in pots and an extraordinary experience. Thanks
Yes, Richard is the King when it comes to growing the Dragon Fruit. I've been watching his videos for a month now. A matter of fact, I already planted four stems or cuttings that I got from Amazon. It will take about 5 weeks for roots to grow before I can transfer them in one big pot, indoor. Yes, indoor because I'm from Chicago. I will place the plant by the window where it can get some sun. We'll see what happens. 😎👍
I tasted dragon fruit before and it was sweet and delicious been in love ever since I kept the seeds so is it possible to grow a dragon fruit from seed?
I love red dragon fruit i can't get enough of it I buy the frozen ones in a bag at Costco I would love to grow my own but I don't know where to get the seeds to grow the red one
Cool crossover. Was watching your videos on citrus as I just picked up some dwarf and semi dwarf citrus. Started with doing hydro. Needed a use for the runoff water and started vegetables & peppers, herbs, and then dragonfruit. Rochard’s channel has been a huge help along with local friends and nurseries.
hi, if my dragon fruit already in the ground for couble of years, if i wanna move to a 20 gallon pot, should i cut the wet root, dry it under the sun a few day before i follow your way?
I have the pink skin/ white flesh one. How would I tell what variety it is? I bought the plant at the grocery store from a company called "Patio Fruits".
Love your videos, super informative! Definitely convinced me to purchase a 4lb bag of your super blend fertilizer for my DF cuttings that i’m having coming in soon! I wanted to know how to properly feed them this. I think you said not to start using it until they start to grow/root then start doing a monthly feeding, but you also said that changes during the winter time? I’m in south Florida so not super cold here, how do I go about feeding them during the winter time as in, how much and how often? Also, i’m getting unrooted cuttings, when do I begin to feed them monthly? I’m using the same set up such as 4 cuttings per 20 gal bucket. Thank you, any advice helps!!!
Hi My Work Peer gave Me a Few Stems. Some have Roots. Should I Cut it Like The Stems in this Video and Let it Callous or Should I Just Plant As Is? One Didn’t Appear to Have Roots So I Suppose I Should Just Cut that. Any Advice?
I have a question on dragon fruits cuttings. I am a first time trying to grow dragon fruit. I had purchased different cuttings but got mixed up by my 5 year old daughter. How do I tell the difference between them yellow, red with red flesh and red with white flesh. I potted all 32 of them to start rooting process and don't know which one is what kind of cutting.
About slugs where I live in Uganda,we don't have access to sluggo or sluggo plus but I've had to improvise by sprinkling salt around the plant and it worked for me.
Would love to get any tips for growing citrus in not ideal zones. I live in zone 7b and have a blood orange, meyer lemon, olive tree, and 6 varieties of dragon fruits. Is it possible to graft a meyer lemon or the blood orange onto a wild bitter orange and have it be hardy down to our zone?
hi love both of you guys TH-cam channel. I have gotten my dargon fruit from my island in the wild and some from old plantations. I have a super sweet red one and a high so i crossed them and planted the seed and look forward to see what it will be.
How about if you have a dragon plant which has already a lot if roots? Can we used directly those parts with bigger roots or we will still start with the cuttings? Thanks for the info.God bless
The Kellogg's potting soil was recommended from someone's video and I find that I have to replant everything I put in pots because the stuff it's just horrible to plant in. My plants took forever to grow it was hard to know when to water. In my big pots the bottom of the pot was very soggy and smelly and the top was dry. I now use that to add to my garden vegetables by digging into the dirt or using as a Mulch on top of my soil. I now make my own potting soil.
Hello 👋 Tony! I’d reach out to Richard Le; his contact information is in the comments & video description. He’d be the BEST one to ask! Also, try posting your question at the FaceBook Group: Grafting Dragon Fruit. Charles 🌱👍
Living in central Illinois my tiny seed grown Dragon plants will be in a raised, wheeled planter so I can get them inside for winter and it wasn't about getting free fruit but to see if they would actually grow
Can I plant Dragon fruit here in Arizona area? I love eating this kind of fruit, hope I can plant the different varieties of this plant. Enjoying watching your videos and thank you so much for sharing. Hope you can help me where I can buy and get started.
I have some questions for Mr. Richard Le. 1. Do you have any for sale? 2. Aren't there 4 different color types (red skin/white pulp, red skin/red pulp, yellow skin/white pulp, and yellow skin/red pulp)? 3. If a person was to have a few of those self-sterile species, would they cross pollination one another?
You said roots don’t go down, Roots go down and out to the holes of the pot. I planted a mature branch i cut in June it has 2 fruits ready to harvest in 2 weeks.
I bought a dragon fruit from a grocery store germinated the seeds and they already sprouted i planted 5 and I also have another dragon fruit plant I bought from home depot its getting bigger everyday day. I also live in SoCal in the riverside area.
YES; but usually for a short period, like 1-3 months, to get them through the coldest winter days. But, I know that full sun results in optimal growth & performance. Write to one, or all, of the Grafting Dragon Fruit links I’ve shared in the comments & description. Good luck! Charles 🤩
Thanks So Much. I’m New to The Art of Dragon Fruit. I Have Been Caring For Orchids the Past 3-4 Years with Decent Success. Obviously, I Don’t Want to Damage My 3 Cuttings a Co-Worker Gave to Me. Great Video. Thanks So Much and Thanks to Anyone who Can Offer Help with that Question. Blessings to All!
The one thing you didn't cover was growing them from seed. All you said was they would not be true to type and would take several years to fruit. You didn't say anything about raising from seed like put the seeds on the surface or 6" deep or whatever. How can I improve germination should I pre-soak the seeds in water over night? Etc etc etc but I did think it was nice you have him the box of your stuff.
I grew my dragon fruit from seed started out looking good but now as you can see is pail green,, I leave lid off now to see if it will help, I dont water in less it starts getting little dry,, I'm a fraud I might lose them

Give it a try growing in pots let’s you bring them inside a garage or green house you will never know if you don’t try there’s been tons of things grown successfully where they are thought not to be able to. Cheers
@@caseG80 yeah I know I'm trying a citrus tree now...oranges one of my favorite fruits but I'm sure if it does grow here it won't ever fruit unless I build a green house or a indoors setup
Hello Mayra 👋 (1) I’d experiment with trying to grow more varieties. As we discussed, it’s possible that you’ve got a variety that requires cross pollination with a different dragon fruit variety to become fertile & fruit. (2) perhaps you have not be fertilizing during the growing season: spring, summer & early fall. If you have more questions, I’d try contacting Richard Le of Grafting Dragon Fruits FaceBook, Instagram and/ or TH-cam. Good luck! Charles 🤩
I could never understand why people eat them as they are so bland with no sugar or acid. However, people tell me that the pink and red fleshed are far better like a great watermelon but avoid the white ones that Vietnamese people cherish.
Hello Paul 👋 I used to have a similar opinion until I tried the yellow dragon varieties- and there are several other ones that can be as sweet & delicious as a mango! Grafting Dragon Fruit FaceBook, Instagram & TH-cam offer the education with many examples of varieties to look for if your seeking sweet & delicious dragon fruits! Good luck! Charles 🤩
