First time viewer here. I fish 5 or 6 days a week in my PA12 during the season here in Ontario Canada. I appreciated your comments about kayaks and the wind and admire your skill set during this build. This particular boat is not to my taste but it's still super cool to see you realize your vision. I'm a kayak angler & have been for 9+ years now. I wouldn't fish out of a big boat if it was given to me. I prefer my yak! I t would be cool to have one of your John boats though. If I ever got a boat I would have to be a tiny John boat. How you mod your is awesome
Great mods on the yak ! Love the new spot lock for the basic trolling motor and the idea of if the motor craps out just $150 for a new motor !!!
As I’m sure you already know but you can put socks ( not sure what they are really called ) on the anchors in deep water to help control the ass end when using the spot lock on the front

You can mount an Xi3 on any of the major brands of kayak without voiding the warranty. There are multiple companies that make mounts using existing holes in the kayak.

You make some amazing stuff! For the lvs34 transducer. A company called Fishing Specialties makes a kayak & boat version transducer poles. They also have a lvs 32 & 34 transducer mount. It connects directly below & in live with the pole. That would have worked too. The mount is basically a small ram ball with 2 plates. One to connect to pole & other to transducer. It also allows for infinite angle adjustments for the transducer which is great for perspective mode for different depths

I kind of want to build a tiny boat. I’m just not sure what I’d use it for, as I have a Bass Boat, a kayak, and a 31’ center console for the salt.
I am very interested in the spotlock work around, that is possibly a game changer if it's cheap and reliable.

It mostly depends on the kayak and how capable it is to hold weight
Pedal drive does much better in wind vs paddle only kayak. The paddle becomes the limiting factor because it becomes a mini sail.
I have fished easily on windy days while paddle kayaks struggled.
Yes, straight into the wind, but not when you have to turn.
I fish 5 or 6 days a week in my Hobie PA12 180 here in Ontario, Canada and dealing with wind is a challenge for me.

Really cool, did you consider what would happen if you fell onto the livescope pole. That top with the "arrow" seems like it would want to impale you if you planted your hand onto the ii to stabilize yourself from wake or rogue wave.

Do u take on full projects.. I have a 15 foot Jackson kayak and would love to have an overhaul to it and find someone who has the ingenuity and tools and design capability’s to turn it into something way better then a paddle kyak. Otherwise get rid of it and get a small micro skiff type watercraft. But I’d rather keep it and turn it into something like this. This is a serious inquiry and I’m open to all ideas and suggestions. It would be a bigger project due to needing basically everything( trolling motor batteries, lights , wireing etc.
Modifying kayaks for the birds. Just get a boat.
Btw $700 for this unit, plus trolling motor, plus battery, plus figuring out how to mount it yourself, your still basically at about $1200 give or take.
A real spotlock motor is not much more than that, and this product may drive those prices down to compete.
If this motor unit was more like $300-400 it would be worth it.
Not sure this is worth it at that price point which is way inflated.

I would like it much better with a PWM with "infinite" speed settings instead of a 8 step speed controller.
It does have a PWM, just with eight speeds. Minnkota does the same thing, but they have 10.
@@TinyBoatNation I know but PWMs without designated speed settings are much better for custom speeds. It would be a much better design IMO.

Literally any mod a fishermen could realistically need/want.
Anything else is a waste of your money and an exercise in frustration.
