- It's yet another flowering season for lotus. I found some lotus flowers, leaves, rhizomes, and roots, and made several congenial summer dishes. The rest of the lotus roots were used to make a dessert dedicated to my grandma - lotus powder with sweet osmanthus flowers and nuts. That, coupled with a sip of lotus tea, will make you so happy that you'll sigh about the transience of summer.

The lotus is widely used in Chinese cuisine and medicine. The root is commonly consumed as a refreshing dish. The leaf, flower, and the bud within the seed can also be used as medicine in addition to what she did here. The seed is great for making soup for lowering the "fire" in you and promotes good sleep. The flower is also widely used in Buddhism as it symbolizes the pristine beauty of the flower is unaffected from the muddy water that it grows from.

Lotus root is a traditional Chinese food. It can be cooked and eaten directly, Fried like video, or ground into a powder and soaked in hot water to make oatmeal. It tastes like potatoes mixed with nuts. It's delicious

I've recently been doing more Chinese cooking, my "first" recipe was pork rib and lotus root soup. I've just fallen in love with lotus root and lotus plants in general (when I'm REALLY dreaming, I think about making a lotus pond, but I'm not a good gardener). I have a friend, whose father is a lotus farmer. Twice a year she would give everyone in the class a handful of fresh lotus seeds bcs her father wanted her to share it with her friends. I had the chance to be in the same class with her for 4 years in highschool. Now i finished my bachelor degree. Never had the chance to eat fresh lotus seeds ever since. Idk where to find it. This video made me miss lotus seeds and my friend 😭

The way she arranges everything, even the ingredients she is going to dump into something else is simply elegant. The lotus petals used to wrap up the other vegetables was exquisite! Ziqi is beautiful and graceful, even when she is in the mud! I like that she is resourceful and so knowledgeable. I like that she made that grater from a piece of metal with nail holes! She inspires me to be creative, patient, and respectful of nature, and also to carry myself with dignity (even if things get dirty)! I LOVE ZIQI!
