    You know as a new pc gamer these videos are very helpful, I bought an OptiPlex 790 put the i7 2600 and 16 gb ram and the rx 550 4gb gpu,it has been okay for a starter so thinking of building my own and seeing all these cheaper builds are great as I'm obviously on a budget gaming with an old OptiPlex.

      That's awesome!!! Something to help if you decide to go for it, this is what I did. I knew I was going to build but didn't want to hit my budget at all once giving me more time and money to invest.
      Found the case that I wanted. I was able to spend a bit more on it buying it in the beginning. If the case needs fans get those. If you're gonna want cable extensions get those. These take a part of the budget and are less likely going to have issues where you'd need an exchange.
      Then I'd get CPU cooler, RAM, SSD, PSU... but I'd get these knowing I'd get the rest of the parts within the return/exchange window if any issues.
      Microcenter has some great motherboard/cpu combos. They sell these on amazon too. GPU and you're all set. If you do a $500 build like above this can be done in 3 paychecks. Or 4 if you want to split it up $250 each month 😊
      Good luck to you! Building is fun!!!

    Honestly that's a solid build even with the restrictions you put in place. If someone was building a brand new tower and was wanting to use this as a template, the only thing I would change (budget allowing) is go to B550 for the PCIE gen 4, and get a gen r NVME 1tb ssd (or 500gb gen 4 boot, 2tb gen 3 data/game drive). And whatever case fits your fancy.
    If you wanted a drop-in upgrade path, you could snag some used 5800x3d (or 5600x3d?) down the road once more of those get replaced, upgrade the GPU to whatever (7800xt?) to get more longevity.
    I'm probably going to sit on AM4 for a few more years.

    • @markkus-oliverollo2380
      @markkus-oliverollo2380 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gen 4 doesnt matter for Ryzen 5 5500, as it only supports Gen 3. Ryzen 5 3600 and 5600 support PCIe gen 4.

    • @danc4046
      @danc4046 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markkus-oliverollo2380 Wow, I totally assumed otherwise. Advice would still be the same though. Gen 4 nvme costs about the same as gen 3 and as soon as you do a drop in upgrade, you immediately get the gen 4 speed.

  • @T0beyeus

    What is great is this is a easy jumping off point, if you wait for deals and save a few bucks and returned the incorrect part, etc... you could make this build fancy. Some colored extension cables, colored vinyl you normally add to the PSU and some RGB front case fans and you can make a nice little gaming PC between $500-600

    I am looking the build / buy options. I am only looking at entry-level PCs for either. I have been around tech for a while and used to build IBM PC clones back in the late 80s. Of course back then, there was no internet and finding info meant find the right BBSs and roaming the aisles at Mirocenter. Also, you might have to do a little soldering. Looking at yours and other builders, it seems that other than screwing components in place or removing covers to put in SDDs, it seems almost like building with Legos. I tried do your build but due to part availability and upgrading to a 1T SDD board and 1T SDD card (From the same maker), I came in pretty close @ $642. Of course, that doesn't include a keyboard, mouse and gaming gear. To get what I wanted, that was another $310 more. So, total build out is $952 + tax & shipping. Most entry-level gaming PCs without gaming gear are around $1100 + tax & shipping. However, you do have the 1-800 # to call if something goes wrong and an overall build warranty. BTW, I am looking play games like DCS, Il-2., etc. Not really into MMP type games. Any advice on which way to go?

    Amazon can be rough. I personally go between Newegg and Amazon. Newegg usually for my motherboard, CPU, Case. Most of the time graphics cards. I use Amazon for M.2 NVME and memory, fans. My go to has been Silicon Power Turbine memory at 16-18-18-38 3200MHz. My secondary pc has 16GB and my main has 32GB. Normally I would chide you for you miss matched parts. But the 5500 is a gen 3 part. However, for my nieces (twins) I am using a R5 3600 (Gen 4) and a B550 with an RX 580 8GB. Yes, the 580 is a gen 3. However, the twins are only 10ys and play Minecraft and Roadblox at this time. But I do like your reasoning. And a nod to the BitFenix Nova Mesh mATX ARGB that I'm using (I already have own 2 RX 580 8GB card and B550 gives me card options and r5 5600 options.) My secondary pc is an RX 6600 and do wish to lose any performance.

    Be honest, you put that extension cable in to drive comment engagement, I literally had no problem with every concession in the video, you even did a shout out for used GPU deals. Your Case fan is 2" from that header, where is the extension going? I am assuming for aesthetic reasons you are running the fan cable the long way around the case. But I'm going to be 99% sure you don't need a fan extension for this build.*
    * if you add front fans you'll probably need an extension and splitters if the budget motherboard only has the single sys fan header.

  • @DroggyM
    @DroggyM ปีที่แล้ว

    Amazing build!!! Especially great for people who don't want the hassle of buying used parts or the risk of getting scammed. Only thing I would change is to replace this ugly ass monotone black case with the Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower Case. Also for some reason the motherboard used in this video just shot up to 150$, so use the MSI B450M-A PRO MAX II Micro ATX AM4 instead. Overall with these changes you will have an aesthetic PC Bulid that can run any game you throw at it at Medium-High settings at minimum 60 fps (except for starfield of course) for only 550$.
