It’s a genuine review Mr. Gabriel! Useful! But however reasonings and logical explanations are missing. Which obviously takes British into picture who published numerous propaganda against Aurangzeb, as they could make British India. People might get some connecting dots of the story. So, I hope you will touch that too in upcoming episodes. Even Audrey Truschke is famous for above reasoning with historical evidences. Then “Jizya” is a great concept of that time which will result in development of poor and established equality among people so it not a discrimination by default. And muslims were not tax free they have to pay huge taxes, including Zakat, one of the pillars of Islam! That’s why Jizya for non muslims. Actually it is a systemic distribution of wealth. Anyways it was useful then. Now the world system is totally different so one shouldn’t see then Rulers and theirs rules from our perspective. Aurangzeb was truly a great king because he didn’t waste money, he solely used it for his country’s development, even though the kingdom (now India, pak, afgan, Bengal) was richest in the world during his time, he lead an utter simple life. Conquering territories also not just to show their power it had political as well as religious reasons too (against biased rulers). Definitely Aurangzeb is debatable topic mainly because of propaganda (=false) of some British historians then which helped them to brighten their powers, I mean path to conquer power! I didn’t mean they were totally wrong, its just their ethics! To be noted the kingdom (now India, Pakistan, Afgan, Bengal etc) was rich in wealth, wisdom, diverse cultures and natural resources but western world were developed industrially so this sharing (forcefully too) between wealth, man power and industrial development was story of whole world.
