- In this video, I use the F1 2021 driver career mode to explore what would've happened if Nicholas Latifi hadn't have crashed on lap 53 of the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. This crash caused Verstappen to win the f1 Abu Dhabi race and the 2021 championship, but would it still be Verstappen or Hamilton to win the championship without a classic Latifi crash?

You can’t call him bad tbh. He’s driving 290 - 310 kmh so he’s obviously a good driver, just not compared to the other drivers he’s not. But if you were to race him he would win.

I guess in a real lap 53 scenario if he didn’t crash or if it was of track Hamilton would have won given his lead and lap times verstappen wouldn’t of caught him and would’ve been about 9 seconds behind at the end but I guess we’ll never know after all luck is a factor in f1 and can and has decided championships before and this probably will not be the last case of this so sad Lewis didn’t win it but it is what it is.

The answer is, nobody knows. Maybe someone else would crash, maybe a mechanical failure, maybe perez would try a crashgate 2.0, maybe hamilton's old hards would give up (another potential silverstone 2020?), or maybe just hamilton cruising to victory? Its not possible to know

This game is so accurate and the latifi crash is so accurate
I am a Hamilton fan, but Verstappen was a well deserved world champion!
The thing I did not like is how he won it with what happened, but you could see throughout the season, he was is another league.
Yes, he caused incidents that were super reckless, but so did Hamilton at one point (Silverstone 2021) but in all, he beat Hamilton in more races, more poles and in general the quicker car in the first part of the season, it's just how he was gifted it I did not enjoy or like.
I am really enjoying the 2021 season however with Leclerc and Verstappen and hopefully we get the same exciting season with the new regs like last season. Super glad that Massi is gone as hopefully we have race directors now who actually know how to do the job fairly, and not gift another driver the championship.
Finally a normal person that not insult other fan and driver, thanks to exists

Lewis had a 10 second lead leading into the first pit stop, perez purposly stayed out and held him literally until verstappen was in drs range of hamilton, and up until latifi crashed hamilton had like 12 seconds in advance to verstappen again with a few laps remaining.. So yeah im pretty sure what would have happened
