To be fair, Latifi did help William financially until the change of direction, and that’s by itself an accomplishment. He was not crashing at every race, kept his car (mostly) clear, and allowed Williams to stay in F1. I think this is worthy of praises. His race skill are decent, but nowhere near enough for an F1 pilot. I don’t think he’s deserving of a place; especially since Nick has shown how good he is (A trend with dutch people, go figure lol). I still wish him the best of luck. He seems like a kind person.

    • @elmurcis1

Facts. Nobody expects from Latifi to be "Albon/Nyck/George level driver". It wasn't purpose of major deal Williams signed. As harsh it was, it was neccesary for team to survive though years (similar story to now Aston - it wouldn't be in F1 at all without Stroll senior help and junior as driver).
Even best drivers on grid couldn't fill 40million per year difference with performance alone. (doubt that even Max+Lewis or whatever combo could pull Williams 2 places higher - maybe, juuuust maybe figth AM for 9th)
From person who actually likes Latifi (mostly because of all hate - more people hate, more I like him. All that wasted hate energy (they could easily turn it into crowdfunded seat for favorite driver, hehehe) is so tasty!), 2022 regs hit him hard (not as much as Ric but near enough). If people would have a tiny bit of brain (no offense - I wish I would have less =)) ), they would know that in last and pre-last year's Williams Latifi was actually decently fast and could easily match Russell on many weekends (his Saturday shape was meh but on Sunday Russell was often struggling more). Aaand he loves Hungaroring! Would love to see him race there once again in top-level car (just one time event of season)
If Williams are fine with budget, it is time to move for 2 talants in team, no doubt. But "Blame the game not players",
(going to enjoy final races of Goatifi era in F1 if that is the case!)

@@AeroKittens it definitely is trivial though. FIA rules state a minimum weight for an Formula 1 driver of 80kg. If the driver weighs less than 80kg (which is the vast majority of drivers) then this difference is corrected with ballast. This ballast is added to the cockpit so it cannot be placed anywhere on the car to improve balance. This figure also includes the driver’s helmet, race suit and shoes so drivers do not aim to weigh exactly 80kg.

Not much points at all really, at best they would keep finishing P12-14 (= out of the points) or something like that. Together with HAAS they're the worst of the bunch still and on own merit alone wouldn't really be finishing races in the Top 10. RedBull and Ferrari have by far the best pace, Mercedes has made a good comback and seem steady. Alpine seems solid. McLaren's lacking a little compared to the expectation this season, but still solid enough. That's your 5 teams for the Top 10. Alfa Romeo looks quite good, but has had pretty terrible reliability. Alpha Tauri seems underwhelming. The Aston Martin is very hit and miss. HAAS looked not to bad at the start of the season, now seems like a bit of a joke and well Williams... they're just holding ground. Not quite what Russell was capable extracting out of a Williams, but overall still decent compared to the last couple of years in hands of the family. But it needs weekends like the last, where there's tons of grid penalties and unfortunities of others to really capitalize on their opperunities to score points.

Verstappen had two DNF's, Latifi had one. Also the fact Latifi had experience in Formula 3 gave him and advantage, Verstappen didn't as he'd just come from Kz1 Karting.
Overall, Verstappen was the better driver in that championship. Even with Latifi's experience he only just edged out a kid fresh from Karting. He came second while Verstappen came third in the standings. Latifi is mediocre at best, definately doesn't deserve a seat in Formula 1.

Albon's anesthesia issues are something of a nightmare and occur quite often. I wish for the best for his recovery. My mother has a very hard time coming off anesthesia and this is always a scare. Anesthesia needs to have a major focus on the neurological effects moving forward in the future for it to improve and become safer per individual.

I been watching F1 for years and Latifi has performed horribly. You could put him in the top car today Red Bull and he still wouldn’t finish in the points. Williams needed him at a time when Williams was desperate for cash. For that we are grateful otherwise Williams could have been out of F1. I agree it’s time to cut Latifi it’s the right call at the right time.
