I am halfway through and already started loving her the way she is honest while going through the iPad options. She is the very 1st person who didin't even mention the requirement of 12.9" inch iPad. To my opinion the 11' is the best in terms of usability. Not required the 12.9" for day to day use with respect to carrying it to your school
Got an iPad a few months ago, never seen paper after that, I can feel that I'm more focused now. Go for the iPad. It's an investment for the future. The only disappointment is the screen quality. I used super AMOLED before and I find it hard to adapt to LCD. But no regrets getting Ipad over TabS7+.
Graph theory was my favorite subject to take notes and do assignments on. Note taking apps really bring out the beauty in things like dual graphs, chromatic polynomials and n-colorable type graphs, and comparing complement graphs, etc. I was stoked to see you use graph theory to highlight the capabilities note-taking apps can have, to showcase math brought to life! Awesome stuff!
I also use an ipad for taking notes; however, I don't use Goodnotes. I use OneNote because it can work in any device. I have a windows laptop, an android phone, and of course an ipad (I have very little bias because I use them all). As a matter of fact, you can access yours notes online without any app. This is such a huge advantage because OneNote is not system dependent plus it synchronizes in real time to all your devices. Of course, it doesn't have the most advanced features compared to other note-taking apps so you have to see whether if fits your needs.
Even though its math note, I suggest as a Univ student, especially from Oxford, highly respected one, one should try using more tex to take note, or do draft. It's futureproof, worth spending time to make the skill part of your body. I deliberately tried it in my undergrad, which was in 2009.
Hello, i’m so happy for you finally i would just ask you if it’s efficient to resolve problems in the iPad because i’ve been thinking of this for a long time
That was great! I like that you were very specific, and the walk-through at the end gave a realistic picture of what it is like to take notes this way. Do you ever later convert some of your notes to LaTeX? I'm wondering if anything would help with that process. Thanks much for the video!
I recommend you make more playlist of your videos due to your channel having a lot of great information. It would be easier for the viewer if you had playlist on you channel e.g. A playlist for how to prepare for first year uni maths or note taking.
Hi .. that was great .. thanks. Do you ever use the convert to text function? I’m doing Engineering, so I do a lot more writing, but for written submissions, we have to type out our Calculus, which drives me insane 🤬
actually the feeling of script reading is visible to some extent. not complaining just pointing a place to improve however the video was extremely informative
This video was good because of how you explained the benefits of using an iPad for note taking, and why you chose the iPad Pro over the other models. You showed us how the features of the iPad Pro, such as the pencil and split screen capabilities, make it particularly useful for note taking and studying. Additionally, the fact that you are a student at Oxford University adds credibility to your recommendation and suggests that this method of note taking must be helpful to some people. Overall, your clear and concise explanations, demonstration of the features, and personal experience make this video a valuable resource for anyone looking to improve their note taking on an iPad.
I know it’s an old video.. my experience with using Goodnotes is great .. but there are 2 things for which I went back to paper 1. While I am doing maths or any other topics where I need the reference of what I wrote just few lines above or just even 1 line above becomes a bit unnatural to reconcile. Go to top -> find it -> remember it -> and then come to the spot and continue.. do this over and over again if you forget it .. I get it that you could zoom out or copy the content using lasso tool .. but it just does not match with the experience of using paper. Where you get all contents and you can turn the page and write things while referencing what you wrote above or even previous pages. 2. The experience of writing on paper is just different.. I did not get that by writing on glass..
Hello, first time to your channel. I suggest that you memorize the lines that you are about to speak and then speak it while looking at the camera instead of switching your focus between your script and the camera lens. Just a piece of advice so that you can improve your videos. Otherwise the video was fantastic, loved it.
Fun fact: for note taking, there’s no real reason to choose the iPad (any generation) or the iPad Air 5 unless you’re going to be doing miscellaneous things on it. So if you’re gaming and/or editing videos then there’s no reason to get the most expensive one.
I am sorry it is still unreadable! I am looking for a fineliner...writing on very high resolution...I am wondering if that is even possible for an S-Pen ?
Hi, I’m thinking about switching to an iPad to for taking notes during lectures, but I have some doubts because I’ quite fast distracted by social media and till now I always kept my laptop and phone as far as possible. Do you have problems with this too? And also, when you study your notes for the exams, do you write things down on paper then? Or did you completely switch to the iPad? Thanks!!
iOS 15 has focus-mode feature which allows you to disable some notifications when you want to concentrate. However, I think removing those social media apps is easier :)) You can keep them only in your phone and latop
Hi!! I usually only keep social media apps on my phone and I don’t download them on my iPad, which really helps. If you want something to distract you from these apps on your phone, you can try some app like Forest/Flora that block you from using your phone while you’re studying. 😊 This year I have only used my iPad for lectures, exam revision, and homework. I use paper for tutorials though, cause those type of classes don’t have that much structure and they are very fast paced. I would suggest you experiment and see what works best for you. If exams go back to being in person this year, I really think I’ll use paper for those, cause I won’t be able to take my iPad into the exam and I guess I would need some practice. Hope this helps!!
god damn you’re voice is just beautiful, love the accent😍 good video though👍🏻 electrcal engineering student here and just got my ipad pro with the No.2 combo
I would simply say - practice. Try going over some questions that have solutions and try to understand what ideas/techniques they used in the proof. There are several TH-cam videos on Olympiad problems that are extremely well-explained and can help you develop an understanding of the style of the questions. I would highly highly recommend Osman Nal’s channel. He’s got a bunch of Olympiad questions solved and I used his videos a lot to prepare for my Olympiads. Hope this helps! :)
Hi Ioanna, are you allowed to pass your exams on the iPad in GoodNotes? How do you give back your completed exams to the teacher? Can all students decide if they wish to complete their exams on an IT device or with pen and paper? Please, explain, as my son is dyspraxic and cannot use pen and paper, so at uni, he will ABSOLUTELY needs to use his iPad for exams, he cannot write with a pen on paper due to his dyspraxia. Thanks. Magali
At my university, people are expected to sit their exams with pen and paper in exam halls. However, students can always apply for mitigating circumstances, I’ve had some colleagues sitting their exams in their room, supervised by someone online, in which case you do have a choice whether you want to use an iPad or pen and paper. I am not entirely sure how flexible these mitigating circumstances are, so it’s worth asking beforehand. Hope this helped!
Didn’t study in the UK before university, I lived in Romania and did the “Romanian Baccalaureate” - basically A Level equivalents in Maths, Computer Science and Romanian Literature (this one was mandatory).
I believe if we learn like that, nothing is left after 1 month, the key principle is to understand deeply about the problem by seeing it in different aspect, by writing down what in our head, make clear what come up in our mind. So that when we facing with another problem with similar pattern we can realize because we have build alot of neuron paths related to it. Trying to write fancy note is nothing to do with real learning.
I’m deciding whether to buy an iPad or a laptop now for when I go to university next year and to use for my subjects this year. Should I get an iPad over a laptop? Which will Be more beneficial for a maths degree?
Well I would say if you just want to take notes and maybe annotate some textbooks an iPad might be fine, but if you want to do any coding at all, which is required for math degree here in the US, you will probably need a laptop. But if your university does pure math or your okay with just using computers in a library or something an iPad should take you very far.
I actually made a video going in depth about everything I did in my first year at uni! 🤗 Everything I've learnt in my FIRST YEAR as an OXFORD MATHEMATICS student... but make it a tier list th-cam.com/video/gWSTsQJm-J0/w-d-xo.html
@Ralph Reilly You do understand, how many pages of sophisticated math may be covered here? One mistake and her notes may become unintelligible for a while.
Some people (me) are in maths but need to try super hard. I write summary notes for methods and do many practise questions. A tablet works wonders for me.

Disagree. It's not necessary.

Hey Ioana, great video. How common are iPads/ tablets in your lectures? Do most people use them or is hand-writing notes still very common? Thanks
Great video! Congrats, Ioana!❤

Hi! can you recommend some textbooks about Mathematical Analysis and Advanced Algebra??
what alevels did you do?
Didn’t study in the UK before university, I lived in Romania and did the “Romanian Baccalaureate” - basically A Level equivalents in Maths, Computer Science and Romanian Literature (this one was mandatory).
which model are u using? ipad air?
Looks like it. 😅
Can you provide a sample math note of your's created by using IPAD.
Have you ever tried taking notes on a mini?
Woohooo amazing vid!!
Thanks a lot!! ☺️
Great!
Thank you!! 😌
I wanna be good at maths, but my brain refuses to cooperate. Lol!
What app are you using
Goodnotes 5 ☺️
No clue what app you actually used.

if you called this fancy then you definitely havent seen other med students ytbrs 😂
Can you get away with just an ipad and no laptop?
I dont see why not. For most productivity work i believe a powerful tab will do amazing. I can only imagine some would face app compatibility
Just to change the colors would take me too long. Many times I would photograph the lecturer's board
The lecturer would write too fast!!!
are you Italian or greek ?
I’m Romanian actually 😅
Excellent that it 👍👍👍👍
Thank you!! ☺️
😀
Just use paper.
I subbed
Thanks!! ☺️

Wow good for you. It's almost like different countries have different school standards.
Your hand-writing has an NSA-grade secrecy. No one can read it but you.
Why? I can’t imagine writing it out is that much more effective than reading a proper textbook. I wouldn’t recommend this.
