Outstanding job. As a regular rider now, I had no idea about the history of streetcars in KC. Thank you.

Growing up in KC I can still remember the rails that hadn't been paved over at Armor and Burlington in North KC.

Such a shame that the streetcar lines were discontinued in ‘57. Such an efficient and effective transit system. Will be glad when the Main Street extension is done!

Awesome production! Mad respect for your efforts and info. Some of the best photos of historic KC I have ever seen. I’ve been researching the rail line/ streetcar subject most of my life. In the early 90s I remember a plan for a new rail line, Chastain was the politicians name tying to put the funds together. I remember respected elders/teachers saying “it was never gonna happen, big oil stopped it in the 40s.” And the voters said no. Over the years of researching, I have found some conflicting information on the cost of building, operating, and riding. And the converting from steam to electric and many other logistics. I do hope we can restore public transportation in KC. I have done A lot of research and a lot of math, and it should be profitable connecting Olathe, KC, Excelsior Springs, Lawrence, MCI airport. Financially and socially profitable!

Love the videos on this channel! I'm a big history geek. Are these done as part of a school program?

Sorry for the late reply! Yes, these are made as part of a semester-long class at Grandview High School taught by local historian, Diane Euston!

Great information. This city was build on the streetcar, and hopefully we can rebuild with the streetcar. Just need to get those East West connections going.

The Interurban Railroad and Strang lines in Kansas City could get you from Excelsior Springs to Olathe, St. Joseph to Belton. The automobile is the albatross hung around civilization's neck.

This is great! What class was this video created for? Looking for more information about the streetcar's history.

Students who make these videos are enrolled in a semester-long elective at Grandview High School called Kansas City History!

Found the narration very difficult to understand and no CC.
