Re7 was one of the first Re games out in a long time that genuinely scared me, some of those basement moments when you first encounter the molded really got me

RE4 has had such an impact on my family, me and my brother watched my dad play this for so many years over and over and it never got old. Now my brother and I play it non stop and we’re so excited for the remake coming out this month. We’re obsessed ❤
I feel that calling REmake the best Resident Evil Remake isn’t enough. Even calling it one of the best remakes isn’t enough. REmake is simply one of the best video games of all time for me. It has some of the best graphics, creepiest music, even creepier enemies, most atmospheric environments. I find myself replaying it over and over.

RE4 is so iconic that it is the most well known game with people that are not exactly fan of the series because how great of a game it is on it's own. It was also very influential since other masterpiece videogames like Dead Space and The Last of Us clearly had RE4 as their main reference.
Can't blame you, Im not a fan of the series nor do I know the story but when you speak resident evil, the 4th game comes into mind, played the chainsaw part back in the PS2 it was pretty fun never finished the game tho can't wait to play it on the P5
@@dankyourwaifu RE4 was great in so many ways but I believe it was the first Resident Evil game where you can finish the game and start over from the beginning with all of the weapons and money you collected. I know its more fun to barely make it through the game with low ammo but its also fun to rush through the game with the handcannon 1 shotting every enemy.
Re4 factually ruined resident evil, so they had to fix it with 7. Not even an opinion its just an objective fact. A decent game sure, but very low on the list of resident evil games.
I understand the remake being good but I don’t want it to be better than the original RE4 I feel like the remake should stand as it’s own thing and not next to the original version because RE4 is something you really can’t remake and make it be better
Code Veronica isn't a spin-off. It was supposed to be RE3, but then the actual spin-off, Nemesis, ended up being titled RE3 instead due to its surprising quality and development delays, so they went with Code Veronica. It's actually one of the most important games in the lore because it reintroduces Wesker with powers and reunites Claire with Chris.
I think the best things about Code Veronica was the setting, guns, the lore, the puzzles, and unique enemies and bosses we’ve never accounted before. Very slept on resident evil game for sure.

It's still crazy to think about the MASSIVE risks they took with 4. They made the game SOOO different than what we knew Resident Evil for (no pun intended) at the time, and it ended up being widely considered the very best in the series. The odds of doing that correctly are millions to one.
Well for me im glad they took the risk,and im okay with every RE game .. because if they made RE1 10 times people wouldn't care...i mean RE0 is simmilar to 1 and maybe 2 but thats why people dont like 0 as much and 2 was like 1 but more...even though i prefer the REmake
Definitely one of my favorites. I will always be partial to th RE2 remake as it was the first RE game I played, but I’ve played RE2 remake, RE3 remake, RE4, a little of RE5, and I’ve got RE6, RE7, RE8, and RE4 remake queued up to play

Yeah RS5 was different, but still gave me one of the best gaming experiences of my life. Playing coop through the entire game with my mate Rennie back-to-back for 3 days straight was such a thrilling and exciting experiment and one which has not been paralleled.
@@peterjonesly well said mate. Even though it was split screen, it was too cool. Resource sharing and healing, shouting for help when you needed it, it really felt like you were in the thick of it. I just assume those that write the game off as mediocre just didn’t have the same co-op experience. And, come to think about it, I suspect that playing RE6 in the same way would have been hella awesome as well. It’s just, from memory, back then the online gaming on consoles had ramped up and so the option to play remotely seemed the better option than sitting in the same room as your mate, but it really wasn’t. Still, RE5 was linear, but not in bad way from memory, it was like being in a kick-ass zombie flick with your mate.
@@peterjonesly I think it is a matter of personal preferences. In my case, RE4 is my favourite by far, out of all the re games. And while I'm not so sure about Resident evil 5 being a great resident evil, it is definetly a GREAT GAME. I always enjoy playing it and have a special place in my heart for it. The gameplay feels exciting, action packed, combined with monsters and a feeling of world saving that the previous games did not have.
I hated RE5, I played it solo though, I can absolutely see it would be a blast with a friend, but honestly I think the person your playing it with is kind of carrying the game, even a bad game can still be a good time with a good friend.
I feel like resi 5 is a B rank at best, BUT with someone else to play through with it can push to A if you like the more actiony gameplay, if your a more old fashioned resi player then B at best.
5 is totally underrated. Guns were sweet, good graphics for the time, it was fun, the characters were all sweet, I guess I couldn't see the flaws other people noticed personally, but then again there's also that *one* reason I think we all know gave people a problem with it

Resident Evil 7 isn't a perfect game, the second half of the game was definitely disappointing, but i cannot explain how much i love the baker house as a map, i wish the rest of the game was like it, cause everything about the baker house had consistent and good mechanics, the scariness added to the fun
RE7 at its core is a very good RE game, unlike 4,5,6 and 8. RE7 is definitely an S tier RE game. I'd drop RE4,5 and 6 a tier down and move RE0 up to A. RE0 has its problems (that I very much hate) but putting it on the same tier as RE3R ...Hell no.
@@SS_Sin_Of_Pride i mean, as a whole re7 is not much better than re8, but the baker house is perfect, all great mechanics are consistent in that one location. Exploration, combat, stealth, good scares. Re8 has many good mechanics, but it doesn't have one location that perfectly shows them off altogether, instead it's all spread out, leaving a game that's overall just average. I also think the lack of good scares made it much less memorable than 7

RE8's exploration was uninteresting/artificial, the combat sucks because they kept the same player speed as RE7 but made the lykans much faster and in bigger groups, the bosses were bland, uneventful and that metal slug tank thing was the stupidest thing ever. RE8 had one good part and its the castle as its the most RE like level and the doll house was a complete waste of time and after Moreau the game takes a crazy nose dive. RE7 on the other hand has like 1 bad part being the boat or salt mine (Can't say I really dislike either). RE7 had saferooms, item boxes, limited invertory and decent puzzles. RE8 has like none of that.
@@AgentVector13 How does the gameplay suck? It's literally exploring, resource/inventory management, puzzle solving ect you know, the stuff we used to do in the OG trilogy. Now RE8 on the other hand has crafting and recipes like its an RPG or some shit. RE8 to me felt more like GOW 2018 for some reason.
Ong especially the VR version of RE4 It's so much fun plus a bit cheese-able because you can move with the knife plus the movement is faster I had to kill the El Gigante from the double Gigante fight with just my knife cause I fought Verdugo before that (Didn't kill him) and didn't want to was Magnum ammo on that boss
I started with resident evil 7 and it was such a good game, it was scary, fun, and had a pretty good story. Played it multiple times including madhouse and got a plat for the game. It might be different then previous resident evil games but you have to try
I also started with RE7, and going to RE2 straight after that felt like night and day. The entire vibe of RE7 is so much different than the rest of the franchise and I think that’s what makes it so good
@@AmalGum001 Technically the first ever one made had a mix between horror and puzzle solving which is what started off this franchise but after 4 I would say things got a little shaky and it kind of lost it's mojo a bit. I do think RE5 is quite a good game in terms of action but after 5 and 6 is when they basically decided to hit the reset button and go back to what it was originally known for which was a huge success but like you said each game had different elements which is for you to decide what you like in that sense so overall there's not really a bad game as such it's just preference, If possible though I highly recommend 4 if you can get your hands on it

I know it won't be the same as the original, but having not played the original the remake will feel like a whole new experience. The only one of the 'older' games I went back to play was RE5 solely to experience Wesker and Ouroboros, and it did feel massively different to everything else I'd played. Much more action-oriented

I saw a TH-camr play it and when I heard Ethan's voice I was like my dude sounds like a angel I gotta buy the game. And eventually I loved the game also I played Resident of evil 8 it was also pretty good. Both games for me are a 10 out of 10 also Ethan Winters is my favourite protagonist for sure.
RE5 is SO underrated and overhated. I can understand the whole “It got rid of the horror aspect of resident evil.” But when you put that aside, this is an AMAZING addition to the series. The Ai was clunky at best, but the story was amazing. The graphics were amazing for its time, the whole idea of co-op in a resident evil game was sketchy, but it fits so well. In the lore of resident evil, this may be one of the most iconic story modes as we had built up to killing wesker for a decade or more. And even WITH the “lack of horror” argument, it still has horror. Lost in nightmares was TERRIFYING as a kid and some of the levels like the mine- walking around in darkness with only a lantern and enemies like Uraboros show this game had horror elements to it
Biohazard at S is so valid. It revamped the franchise as you said but also reconfirmed the foundation of horror that had been lost with the previous 3 games. Ofc 4 and 6 were fun but resident evil was about horror and those two were missing that element.
I’m about to play it boys, I love the much more horror element and I’ve heard that RE7 has it so I’m so excited. I have to by Village so I can finish the story, but I want the RE4 remake so bad :(
Re2 was fantastic. Haven't played the remake yet, just finished 4, ab to finish 7, but this series as a whole is just epic and changed my life (for better or worse lol)

Same here. For a long time it was my favorite game of all time. (Bloodborne took that place) but it is still my favorite resident evil and one of my favorite games ever.
RE3 is where I fell in love with this game and genre countless memories as a kid of replaying that game and I find myself playing it again at times. I do not think any other RE games has the terror that Nemesis brought, his footsteps throughout the Racoon City and just the worry of him possibly randomly appearing at anytime made him the scariest most unforgiving threat in all of RE games. I love RE3 soo sooo much, I wish they did better with the remake.

I know it's way different than RE2 but I think Capcom put every necessary efforts to make the game playable and ejoyable to wider audience, rather than RE2 that was... Not so playable to the modern audience. I’m not gonna lie growing up with an older brother re6 was hands down the most played game in my house for a long time. My brother and I played that game sooo many times. Hands down one of my favorite games for the memories
SAME! I can't count the times i played RE6 with my older sister. RE6 is one of the best 3rd person action games out there. It was also in line with the themes and stayed true to the characters of RE. The game has so much heart and cheeky charisma like all of the previous RE games. I really cannot fathom how people can dislike it so much.

@@kenjikune2565 I played RE5 most of the time with a real friend, but when I was trying to get the platinum trophy the AI was constantly dying against one shot enemies like the bugs or the executtioner.
RE5 was my first RE game. And my brothers! I have the best memory playing through this game with him. I’m grateful for RE5 for introducing me to the series but also introducing me to horror games.

Playing resident evil with my dad as a kid is one of the best memories I have growing up..none will pass the original and re2 for me due to the nostalgic effect..but code veronica is pretty damn good too. Re2 and Re4 were the first resident evil games i beat by myself and I was so damn proud to show my pops.
RE4 is definitely my favorite resident evil game. Wasn't my fist RE game but it was the one that got me deep into the series when when it first came out for the Gamecube. It also took the RE series to a new and improved route that we know today. I don't think its possible to make a perfect game better, but I still look forward to eventually get a remake with the new RE engine.
RE8 is definitely my favorite. I've been playing RE since I was a kid, and have been a huge fan of the series my whole life. RE8 took the mantle from RE4. As much as I love 4 and look forward to the remake, RE8 from the gameplay, to the story is RE at its best.
I really loved resident evil 6 it was my first RE game i remember being so blown away by the fact you can play 4 storylines something Capcom abandoned and i hope they make something like that in the future
Resident Evil 6, is my first ever RE game that i tried... I was insanely hooked on the gameplay and the game modes! Played it for a year, and i can say that it's my most favorite in terms of gameplay mechanics and campaigns, despite trying RE4! RE4 is the best RE game to be ever made, that is a fact! But Resident Evil 6, is what made me love RE! The campaigns, collections, gameplay mechanics, smooth graphics and fluid motions despite being released on 2012. I loved it!
RE5 was fun with a friend. The amount of bugs on RE6 made it a masterpiece if you're playing with a friend, we'd spend more time kicking each other or triggering bugs and laughing our asses off.
RE5 easily has the best mercenaries mode in the franchise which goes hand in hand with the co-op experience because that was just an addition from RE4, 4 had no co op whatsoever RE5 just added that aspet and its actually an amazing couch co op game, my brothers and I have had some amazing times playing RE5 co op together. People don't give RE5 enough credit for how much the co op added to the game.
Such a bad resident evil. Resident evil 6 is probably one of the worst ones. Not even a horror game, just a 3rd person shooter. Doesn't stay true to the Resident Evil formula. Same with RE5.
So I'm 37, nothing beats the original 3 plus code Veronica, it is not a spin off. 4 was decent. But for a lot of people in my generation, we like the original teams. Claire, Leon, Jill, Chris ect.

Correct me if I am wrong but RE 3 was the spinoff and Code Veronica was really the third installment. They numbered it weird because Capcom had to deliver one more mainline series game for Sony but they saved the real sequel for the Dreamcast.
Currently playing through the series for the first time having only played RE4 back in 2005. Currently on Revelations and the people who said this was better than 5 and 6 were definitely smoking something.
I had to stop playing revelations coz it straight up wasn't passing the vibe check I'll come back to it at some point. Not that I thought 5 and 6 is good, but at least they were "fun"

I guess I'm in the minority but RE 6 was my first RE game. I know people don't like it but personally I love the game. It's so cool and I think it's very underrated. I know a lot of other people like the other games more but I love it too much.
The two things i liked about RE2 OG Verus the remake is that Leon took leadership and used communication to speak with Claire on to escape the city, something that the remake failed to do. Another thing was the scenarios, in the OG A and B stories intertwined with one another, one thing can effect the other story such as the weapons room; choosing an extra inventory pack or a new gun, or/and using the electric outlet to block the windows so zombies wont get in. Heck even playing as cliare or leon first, they had different stories and different boss battles. Thats another thing that the remake failed to do. It just copied the same scenario.
I am making my way through the whole Resident Evil series and I just finished playing Resident Evil 4 and now I understand why so many people like that one. Out of all the ones I've played I have to say Resident Evil 4 is by far the best. I see myself playing that game for the rest of my life and still enjoying it. I would've put Resident Evil 4 up at the top as well

I miss when it first came out and everyone was playing it and you would end up having two different groups of people playing at the cross section levels. That was very enjoyable. I want more games like RE5 and RE6 with co op.
i have a feeling that the people who make the remasters for re2 and 3 probably wanted to act like it was a "different" take on the original games because some voice lines were different, different zombies, and even some rooms were scrapped, remodeled, or never touched to begin with. I am really praying that they dont act lazy and mess up the resident evil 4 remaster. If they do, ill actually be upset.
I've seen in articles that they don't plan on changing much of re4's original content that much rather just adding new content and I'm hopeful that's the way the remake is going to go.
I remember being blown away by RE2 on N64. I haven't played the original RE, so the visuals and gameplay were so revolutionary to me... After that I played RE3 on PC, which I had alot of fun, but was quite familiar and I really enjoyed it. I was late for RE4, bought it cheap with a magazine (yes, we use to have those back then...), my expactations were low but DAMN! Before I realized I was addicted. I would go to bed late and wake up way before my usual time, just so I could play it more...that game got me hooked in a way no other game ever did...
I grew up watching my Dad play the OG RE games, that's probably the reason I've always loved them so much. I 100% agree with the RE4 comments, EASILY the best in the whole franchise and one of my favorite games of all time if not the favorite. I reckon I clocked that game 100+ times - my mate and I would used to have competitions to see who could finish it the most and collect the most treasure without selling it, we'd take our PS2 consoles to each others houses when we had sleep overs and compare, and play until the early hours. That game will always have a special place in my heart and will always be replayable until the day comes where I can't play games anymore. Super pumped for the remake!
I feel like I am in the minority here but RE2 was my version of RE4 for a lot of you. The soundtrack and atmosphere were top notch for a spooky game at that time. The RE2 remake was also well done IMO - updated graphics but kept a lot of what made it so great.
Thanks for loving and cherishing RE5. I simply adore having a 2 player RE game and I had soooo much fun playing it with my beastie and boyfriend when it came out. I think it's a bit underrated and it's nice seeing someone else like it!
I think I played REmake 2 for about a month straight after beating it in 3 days. Way too addicting. I did the same with Village because I just freaking LOVED the atmosphere of it. Then, RE4 VR came out and I was in shock of how they put that game into VR and it WORKED! I was amazed, and played the hell out of the VR version as well as the OG. Now with 4 remake, I’m excited. And I’ll say it, I really liked 5. It was one of my first games I played to the fullest and going back to it beings so many memories. This is definitely one of the best gaming franchises in history.

Been a lifelong fan of RE. It hurts my heart that CV didn’t make it into what you’re calling a mainline game since I would characterize it as much more of a mainline game than even resident evil 0, but you addressed it so that’s fair. I completely agree with everything other than re6. Re6 is probably the most disappointed I’ve ever been in any videogame and when tiering a series it has to be one of if not the lowest point. The gameplay atmosphere didn’t feel like resident evil, the enemy design was lazy, and the story-especially for what it could have been- was atrocious. It’s like they had a story, decided it was bad, and rather than just fix it to make it better they just kept adding more to it. The dumbed down each character, shoved as many references to other games and parts of the series as possible down our throats, upped the scale, and forced every character interaction until they were left with a convoluted mess that went to the 20$ bargain bin a month after the game came out. I prefer to view re6 as a joke, that will hopefully be fully retconned into non existence and that’s why so much time is being taken to remake the older games and show a different side of the series with resident evil 7&8. That’s just me though.
RE5 is probably my favorite Resident Evil game. I loved the characters and the story so much. I guess I like the Resident Evil games that are more action based.

Re 2 remake is my favorite of all time. To me it was the perfect blending of a classic re in modern times. That's why re3 remake hurt so bad. Re 2 remake was almost perfect and to mess it up so badly after doing so well.

Code Veronica is absolutely, indisputably a mainline entry and no one can convice me otherwise. Lacking a number in its title doesn't mean anything; it's the true sequel to Resident Evil 3.
RE CVX was supposed to be RE 3 and "Nemesis" a RE 2 expansion / spin off. Would have made more sense that way as it's more advanced as RE 3. Kind of fills the gap between 2 and 4. But the "high ups" at Capcom wanted otherwise. History saddly repeated itself with R3make.
@@residentevilclone how? It continues the main story of Claire from re2, brings back chris and the series main villain wesker. We also learned about another founding family of umbrella the Ashfords. Also things from code veronica continue into the rest of the main story.
I agree with those rankings. I am not a fan of 1st person survival horror games but 7 and 8 changed me specially if you play it in VR. Its soo good and scary. And also the VR version of RE4 in the Meta Quest is really good.
I loved Re6, no I didn't miss click the 7. It was just fun and enjoyable for me, the other games don't have nearly as much content as Re6 and that's why I enjoyed it more than others. Plus it's co-op friendly, and I played the hell out of it with my brother. REmake 2 would be my top 3, with Re5 being top 1 and Re6 as top 2.
Re6 had some of the best movement in any game I’ve played, the combined with the perfect counters you could do on every separate enemy was crazy fun. It just didn’t have that resi feel and the story wasn’t as strong as the others, but my god did re6 have some kickass combat.
@@Instaqixx In my opinion, it perfected the side of Resident Evil that was action-oriented. From the seed that Re4 planted with its QTEs and suplexes, to Re5's co-op combos. Re6 finished it with a very smooth combat system and fast-paced mechanics, like how you can take a pill and heal while moving. Re6 is also the only numerical Resident Evil that allows you to sprint (that's if you discount Wesker's in Re4 and 5). Edit: I forgot to mention that Re6 is also the first in the main series that allow you to shoot while moving.
Ngl i fr thought I'd see a crap ton of comments be like oh my god re6 is trash. I actually really like the game! Of course it's not that scary and there isn't parts of the game where im just oh god this part 😰😰 in like. Absolute fear. But I believe the stories and scenes of the game is so gdm good. (I think jake+sherry and chris+piers are the best stories of re6 in my opinion.) Though as another con, the game is just too easy LKAKDJIIJDE. I don't think I reached it's full potential (by not playing it in harder difficulty other than normal or playing its extra modes), but the game is just. Real easy than like re5 and re4. But god re6 does have it's redeeming qualities.
Resident Evil Outbreak is honestly one of my favorites. Something about having the scenarios to get through and how you get through them and they are just different puzzle set pieces is interesting.
I understand a lot of people's frustration with it but that's why I love 6. It's the closest we'll get to RE outbreak 3. Of course it's not new characters with strength and weaknesses like outbreak, but the scenarios being chaotic and still coming together relatively well for a RE game, with co-op/online play made it a Goofy, over the top gem
RE2 og/RE3 og, RE2 remake, RE3 remake, RE1 remake, 4, 5, 7, 8, 0, 6. I stand firm. 2 and 3 classic are arguably my favorite games of all time. Up there with FF9, Chrono Cross, Majora's Mask, Legend of Dragoon
I came to the franchise pretty late. RE7 was my first, and I thought it was pretty good--sometimes excellent. Followed by Village (hated it), RE2 (LOVED it!) and RE3 (a mixed bag, but really enjoyed it). Since I have no nostalgia for the original games, I don't get mad at what's missing or different in the remakes. But when I try to play the old-school versions, they are just too primitive. Other than some puzzle and platform games, games have a certain shelf life for me, no matter how much I used to love them. For example, I absolutely loved the Quake games when they came out, but just seem clunky and old-fashioned now. So even if it isn't going to be a perfect remake, I am really looking forward to the remake of 4.
@@norwegianblue2017 I personally would play 2 and 3 classic over any other RE. Nostalgia is there but I also genuinely love them. The tank controls are a dynamic that adds to the horror element. It's very fast paced in every other RE and more a gun game then a survival game
I definitely agree that the REmake is very relaxing, until I encounter the giant spiders, arachnophobia is crazy lol. But, I have nothing but good feelings about that game. The way it looks and plays makes me feel nostalgic even though I wasn’t born in that generation of RE games like 1,2, and 3.
When you talked about Resident Evil 4 I felt like this was me speaking. It was my first RE game too, played on Ps2. Beat it like a million times and still do. And yeah it's my favorite game of all time too. Hoping they do justice with the remake.
As a longtime RE fan who grew up on em, playing 2 at the young age of 5, I'll say that 4 is arguably the best of the bunch. Stoked for the remake. But me personally, my favorite is actually Resident Evil Remake. I'd love to see that come out in 4k as well.

A couple of years ago, when I really started getting into the whole series, I began playing RE4 on my uncle's handed down PS2. It was one of the first RE games I actually could play without getting too scared to finish (seeing how before I played I was just a child. Of course I still get frightened, but I'm able to actually continue playing). I fell in love with it, even before I played any others. So I definitely agree that RE4 is superior to all, though each are good in their own respective ways. I'm really hoping the remake to RE4 does it justice
I remember playing RE2 on the PS1 when I was a kid. Probably the first game to get me scared shitless. So much so that I never beat the game when I was a kid, but my dad did it, and I loved watching him play even though it was a scary game at the time. Without a single doubt my favourite RE game, and possibly my favourite game in general.
RE5 and 6 have been a pretty good experience for me because I played them in college with my roommate from start to finish so we’ve bonded through these games. But I could see why they’ve received a mediocre score.
The thing i loved about 5 and 6 was melee attacks, like 4 had good melee but 5 adding different attacks based on where you shot the enemy and then again based on were you were standing to the enemy just felt amazing and ive missed it in the newer games, like the re7 dlc were you play as chris the boulder puncher brought that back and i loved that, whats more making it give more time in mercenaries when you score a melee kill was the best or counters giving 7 sec instead of 5 in re6, or counters spawning a hidden boss worth alot of points was just great. Meanwhile re8 we got what is more or less a butter knife
Re5 is my absolute favorite RE game. As re4 was for you, is how re5 was for me. I beat that game so many times I couldn't even tell you the number. It was so amazing to me. I never understood why people did not like it. It was simply awesome to me. I'm excited and hoping for the re5 remake

Resident evil 5, despite all its flaws (the anime ass story, partner A.I.), was actually an amazing co-op experience, very fun to play with a close friend.

I feel that calling REmake the best Resident Evil Remake isn’t enough. Even calling it one of the best remakes isn’t enough. REmake is simply one of the best video games of all time for me. It has some of the best graphics, creepiest music, even creepier enemies, most atmospheric environments. I find myself replaying it over and over.

RE4 is so iconic that it is the most well known game with people that are not exactly fan of the series because how great of a game it is on it's own. It was also very influential since other masterpiece videogames like Dead Space and The Last of Us clearly had RE4 as their main reference.

@@dankyourwaifu RE4 was great in so many ways but I believe it was the first Resident Evil game where you can finish the game and start over from the beginning with all of the weapons and money you collected. I know its more fun to barely make it through the game with low ammo but its also fun to rush through the game with the handcannon 1 shotting every enemy.

Code Veronica isn't a spin-off. It was supposed to be RE3, but then the actual spin-off, Nemesis, ended up being titled RE3 instead due to its surprising quality and development delays, so they went with Code Veronica. It's actually one of the most important games in the lore because it reintroduces Wesker with powers and reunites Claire with Chris.

I think the best things about Code Veronica was the setting, guns, the lore, the puzzles, and unique enemies and bosses we’ve never accounted before. Very slept on resident evil game for sure.

It's still crazy to think about the MASSIVE risks they took with 4. They made the game SOOO different than what we knew Resident Evil for (no pun intended) at the time, and it ended up being widely considered the very best in the series. The odds of doing that correctly are millions to one.

Yeah RS5 was different, but still gave me one of the best gaming experiences of my life. Playing coop through the entire game with my mate Rennie back-to-back for 3 days straight was such a thrilling and exciting experiment and one which has not been paralleled.
@@peterjonesly well said mate. Even though it was split screen, it was too cool. Resource sharing and healing, shouting for help when you needed it, it really felt like you were in the thick of it. I just assume those that write the game off as mediocre just didn’t have the same co-op experience. And, come to think about it, I suspect that playing RE6 in the same way would have been hella awesome as well. It’s just, from memory, back then the online gaming on consoles had ramped up and so the option to play remotely seemed the better option than sitting in the same room as your mate, but it really wasn’t. Still, RE5 was linear, but not in bad way from memory, it was like being in a kick-ass zombie flick with your mate.

And while I'm not so sure about Resident evil 5 being a great resident evil, it is definetly a GREAT GAME. I always enjoy playing it and have a special place in my heart for it. The gameplay feels exciting, action packed, combined with monsters and a feeling of world saving that the previous games did not have.

Resident Evil 7 isn't a perfect game, the second half of the game was definitely disappointing, but i cannot explain how much i love the baker house as a map, i wish the rest of the game was like it, cause everything about the baker house had consistent and good mechanics, the scariness added to the fun
RE7 at its core is a very good RE game, unlike 4,5,6 and 8. RE7 is definitely an S tier RE game. I'd drop RE4,5 and 6 a tier down and move RE0 up to A. RE0 has its problems (that I very much hate) but putting it on the same tier as RE3R ...Hell no.
@@SS_Sin_Of_Pride i mean, as a whole re7 is not much better than re8, but the baker house is perfect, all great mechanics are consistent in that one location. Exploration, combat, stealth, good scares. Re8 has many good mechanics, but it doesn't have one location that perfectly shows them off altogether, instead it's all spread out, leaving a game that's overall just average. I also think the lack of good scares made it much less memorable than 7

RE8's exploration was uninteresting/artificial, the combat sucks because they kept the same player speed as RE7 but made the lykans much faster and in bigger groups, the bosses were bland, uneventful and that metal slug tank thing was the stupidest thing ever.
RE8 had one good part and its the castle as its the most RE like level and the doll house was a complete waste of time and after Moreau the game takes a crazy nose dive. RE7 on the other hand has like 1 bad part being the boat or salt mine (Can't say I really dislike either).
RE7 had saferooms, item boxes, limited invertory and decent puzzles. RE8 has like none of that.
@@AgentVector13 How does the gameplay suck? It's literally exploring, resource/inventory management, puzzle solving ect you know, the stuff we used to do in the OG trilogy. Now RE8 on the other hand has crafting and recipes like its an RPG or some shit. RE8 to me felt more like GOW 2018 for some reason.
Re4 and Village are so replayable, I could live the rest of my life playing only those 2 games lol. So much fun.

Yes that’s the first RE game I played seriously and finished completely. It’s a great standalone horror game if you’ve never experienced RE.
I also started with RE7, and going to RE2 straight after that felt like night and day. The entire vibe of RE7 is so much different than the rest of the franchise and I think that’s what makes it so good
@@AmalGum001 Technically the first ever one made had a mix between horror and puzzle solving which is what started off this franchise but after 4 I would say things got a little shaky and it kind of lost it's mojo a bit. I do think RE5 is quite a good game in terms of action but after 5 and 6 is when they basically decided to hit the reset button and go back to what it was originally known for which was a huge success but like you said each game had different elements which is for you to decide what you like in that sense so overall there's not really a bad game as such it's just preference, If possible though I highly recommend 4 if you can get your hands on it

I know it won't be the same as the original, but having not played the original the remake will feel like a whole new experience. The only one of the 'older' games I went back to play was RE5 solely to experience Wesker and Ouroboros, and it did feel massively different to everything else I'd played. Much more action-oriented

I saw a TH-camr play it and when I heard Ethan's voice I was like my dude sounds like a angel I gotta buy the game. And eventually I loved the game also I played Resident of evil 8 it was also pretty good. Both games for me are a 10 out of 10 also Ethan Winters is my favourite protagonist for sure.
RE5 is SO underrated and overhated. I can understand the whole “It got rid of the horror aspect of resident evil.” But when you put that aside, this is an AMAZING addition to the series. The Ai was clunky at best, but the story was amazing. The graphics were amazing for its time, the whole idea of co-op in a resident evil game was sketchy, but it fits so well. In the lore of resident evil, this may be one of the most iconic story modes as we had built up to killing wesker for a decade or more. And even WITH the “lack of horror” argument, it still has horror. Lost in nightmares was TERRIFYING as a kid and some of the levels like the mine- walking around in darkness with only a lantern and enemies like Uraboros show this game had horror elements to it
I found it one of the easiest to beat, that's why I don't care much for it.

Biohazard at S is so valid. It revamped the franchise as you said but also reconfirmed the foundation of horror that had been lost with the previous 3 games. Ofc 4 and 6 were fun but resident evil was about horror and those two were missing that element.

RE3 is where I fell in love with this game and genre countless memories as a kid of replaying that game and I find myself playing it again at times. I do not think any other RE games has the terror that Nemesis brought, his footsteps throughout the Racoon City and just the worry of him possibly randomly appearing at anytime made him the scariest most unforgiving threat in all of RE games. I love RE3 soo sooo much, I wish they did better with the remake.

I know it's way different than RE2 but I think Capcom put every necessary efforts to make the game playable and ejoyable to wider audience, rather than RE2 that was... Not so playable to the modern audience. It might not be satisfying for RE2 fans, but it definitely doing a good job as a game while trying it's best at being faithful to the original

I’m not gonna lie growing up with an older brother re6 was hands down the most played game in my house for a long time. My brother and I played that game sooo many times. Hands down one of my favorite games for the memories
SAME! I can't count the times i played RE6 with my older sister. RE6 is one of the best 3rd person action games out there. It was also in line with the themes and stayed true to the characters of RE. The game has so much heart and cheeky charisma like all of the previous RE games. I really cannot fathom how people can dislike it so much.

Re5 is a good Game, is just that it really shines as a multiplayer, the AI companion is a liability rather than be helpful

Playing resident evil with my dad as a kid is one of the best memories I have growing up..none will pass the original and re2 for me due to the nostalgic effect..but code veronica is pretty damn good too. Re2 and Re4 were the first resident evil games i beat by myself and I was so damn proud to show my pops.

I love the original RE games but I think Code Veronica is pretty terrible.
RE4 is definitely my favorite resident evil game. Wasn't my fist RE game but it was the one that got me deep into the series when when it first came out for the Gamecube. It also took the RE series to a new and improved route that we know today. I don't think its possible to make a perfect game better, but I still look forward to eventually get a remake with the new RE engine.

RE8 is definitely my favorite. I've been playing RE since I was a kid, and have been a huge fan of the series my whole life. RE8 took the mantle from RE4. As much as I love 4 and look forward to the remake, RE8 from the gameplay, to the story is RE at its best.

The amount of bugs on RE6 made it a masterpiece if you're playing with a friend, we'd spend more time kicking each other or triggering bugs and laughing our asses off.
One of the reasons I love 5 & 6 is that i can play with a friend, which gave me quite a lot of enjoyable moment.

RE5 easily has the best mercenaries mode in the franchise which goes hand in hand with the co-op experience because that was just an addition from RE4, 4 had no co op whatsoever RE5 just added that aspet and its actually an amazing couch co op game, my brothers and I have had some amazing times playing RE5 co op together. People don't give RE5 enough credit for how much the co op added to the game.

Correct me if I am wrong but RE 3 was the spinoff and Code Veronica was really the third installment. They numbered it weird because Capcom had to deliver one more mainline series game for Sony but they saved the real sequel for the Dreamcast.

Currently playing through the series for the first time having only played RE4 back in 2005. Currently on Revelations and the people who said this was better than 5 and 6 were definitely smoking something.

I guess I'm in the minority but RE 6 was my first RE game. I know people don't like it but personally I love the game. It's so cool and I think it's very underrated. I know a lot of other people like the other games more but I love it too much.
The two things i liked about RE2 OG Verus the remake is that Leon took leadership and used communication to speak with Claire on to escape the city, something that the remake failed to do. Another thing was the scenarios, in the OG A and B stories intertwined with one another, one thing can effect the other story such as the weapons room; choosing an extra inventory pack or a new gun, or/and using the electric outlet to block the windows so zombies wont get in. Heck even playing as cliare or leon first, they had different stories and different boss battles. Thats another thing that the remake failed to do. It just copied the same scenario.

I am making my way through the whole Resident Evil series and I just finished playing Resident Evil 4 and now I understand why so many people like that one. Out of all the ones I've played I have to say Resident Evil 4 is by far the best. I see myself playing that game for the rest of my life and still enjoying it. I would've put Resident Evil 4 up at the top as well

i have a feeling that the people who make the remasters for re2 and 3 probably wanted to act like it was a "different" take on the original games because some voice lines were different, different zombies, and even some rooms were scrapped, remodeled, or never touched to begin with. I am really praying that they dont act lazy and mess up the resident evil 4 remaster. If they do, ill actually be upset.
I've seen in articles that they don't plan on changing much of re4's original content that much rather just adding new content and I'm hopeful that's the way the remake is going to go.
I remember being blown away by RE2 on N64. I haven't played the original RE, so the visuals and gameplay were so revolutionary to me...
After that I played RE3 on PC, which I had alot of fun, but was quite familiar and I really enjoyed it.
I was late for RE4, bought it cheap with a magazine (yes, we use to have those back then...), my expactations were low but DAMN! Before I realized I was addicted. I would go to bed late and wake up way before my usual time, just so I could play it more...that game got me hooked in a way no other game ever did...
I grew up watching my Dad play the OG RE games, that's probably the reason I've always loved them so much. I 100% agree with the RE4 comments, EASILY the best in the whole franchise and one of my favorite games of all time if not the favorite. I reckon I clocked that game 100+ times - my mate and I would used to have competitions to see who could finish it the most and collect the most treasure without selling it, we'd take our PS2 consoles to each others houses when we had sleep overs and compare, and play until the early hours. That game will always have a special place in my heart and will always be replayable until the day comes where I can't play games anymore. Super pumped for the remake!

Thanks for loving and cherishing RE5. I simply adore having a 2 player RE game and I had soooo much fun playing it with my beastie and boyfriend when it came out. I think it's a bit underrated and it's nice seeing someone else like it!
I think I played REmake 2 for about a month straight after beating it in 3 days. Way too addicting. I did the same with Village because I just freaking LOVED the atmosphere of it. Then, RE4 VR came out and I was in shock of how they put that game into VR and it WORKED! I was amazed, and played the hell out of the VR version as well as the OG. Now with 4 remake, I’m excited. And I’ll say it, I really liked 5. It was one of my first games I played to the fullest and going back to it beings so many memories. This is definitely one of the best gaming franchises in history.
And 4 remake is about to get a vr version for PlayStation vr 2, so there is 4 versions of RE 4 which is crazy to think about.

Been a lifelong fan of RE. It hurts my heart that CV didn’t make it into what you’re calling a mainline game since I would characterize it as much more of a mainline game than even resident evil 0, but you addressed it so that’s fair. I completely agree with everything other than re6.
Re6 is probably the most disappointed I’ve ever been in any videogame and when tiering a series it has to be one of if not the lowest point. The gameplay atmosphere didn’t feel like resident evil, the enemy design was lazy, and the story-especially for what it could have been- was atrocious. It’s like they had a story, decided it was bad, and rather than just fix it to make it better they just kept adding more to it. The dumbed down each character, shoved as many references to other games and parts of the series as possible down our throats, upped the scale, and forced every character interaction until they were left with a convoluted mess that went to the 20$ bargain bin a month after the game came out. I prefer to view re6 as a joke, that will hopefully be fully retconned into non existence and that’s why so much time is being taken to remake the older games and show a different side of the series with resident evil 7&8. That’s just me though.

Re 2 remake is my favorite of all time. To me it was the perfect blending of a classic re in modern times. That's why re3 remake hurt so bad. Re 2 remake was almost perfect and to mess it up so badly after doing so well.
RE3 remake wasn’t messed up that badly. It’s short and some of the content was cut. Outside of that… what’s there is great.

Code Veronica is absolutely, indisputably a mainline entry and no one can convice me otherwise. Lacking a number in its title doesn't mean anything; it's the true sequel to Resident Evil 3.
RE CVX was supposed to be RE 3 and "Nemesis" a RE 2 expansion / spin off. Would have made more sense that way as it's more advanced as RE 3. Kind of fills the gap between 2 and 4. But the "high ups" at Capcom wanted otherwise. History saddly repeated itself with R3make.

I agree with those rankings. I am not a fan of 1st person survival horror games but 7 and 8 changed me specially if you play it in VR. Its soo good and scary. And also the VR version of RE4 in the Meta Quest is really good.

I loved Re6, no I didn't miss click the 7. It was just fun and enjoyable for me, the other games don't have nearly as much content as Re6 and that's why I enjoyed it more than others. Plus it's co-op friendly, and I played the hell out of it with my brother. REmake 2 would be my top 3, with Re5 being top 1 and Re6 as top 2.
Re6 had some of the best movement in any game I’ve played, the combined with the perfect counters you could do on every separate enemy was crazy fun. It just didn’t have that resi feel and the story wasn’t as strong as the others, but my god did re6 have some kickass combat.
@@Instaqixx In my opinion, it perfected the side of Resident Evil that was action-oriented. From the seed that Re4 planted with its QTEs and suplexes, to Re5's co-op combos. Re6 finished it with a very smooth combat system and fast-paced mechanics, like how you can take a pill and heal while moving. Re6 is also the only numerical Resident Evil that allows you to sprint (that's if you discount Wesker's in Re4 and 5).
Edit: I forgot to mention that Re6 is also the first in the main series that allow you to shoot while moving.

But I believe the stories and scenes of the game is so gdm good. (I think jake+sherry and chris+piers are the best stories of re6 in my opinion.) Though as another con, the game is just too easy LKAKDJIIJDE. I don't think I reached it's full potential (by not playing it in harder difficulty other than normal or playing its extra modes), but the game is just. Real easy than like re5 and re4. But god re6 does have it's redeeming qualities.
That's because Resident Evil 6 wasn't scary enough so it failed as a horror game, but it's a really good third person shooting game.

Resident Evil Outbreak is honestly one of my favorites. Something about having the scenarios to get through and how you get through them and they are just different puzzle set pieces is interesting.
im gonna agree to this one. i like the outbreak series except from the part of first outbreak where you cant auto aim at crows.
I understand a lot of people's frustration with it but that's why I love 6. It's the closest we'll get to RE outbreak 3. Of course it's not new characters with strength and weaknesses like outbreak, but the scenarios being chaotic and still coming together relatively well for a RE game, with co-op/online play made it a Goofy, over the top gem

I came to the franchise pretty late. RE7 was my first, and I thought it was pretty good--sometimes excellent. Followed by Village (hated it), RE2 (LOVED it!) and RE3 (a mixed bag, but really enjoyed it). Since I have no nostalgia for the original games, I don't get mad at what's missing or different in the remakes. But when I try to play the old-school versions, they are just too primitive. Other than some puzzle and platform games, games have a certain shelf life for me, no matter how much I used to love them. For example, I absolutely loved the Quake games when they came out, but just seem clunky and old-fashioned now. So even if it isn't going to be a perfect remake, I am really looking forward to the remake of 4.

But, I have nothing but good feelings about that game. The way it looks and plays makes me feel nostalgic even though I wasn’t born in that generation of RE games like 1,2, and 3.

When you talked about Resident Evil 4 I felt like this was me speaking. It was my first RE game too, played on Ps2. Beat it like a million times and still do. And yeah it's my favorite game of all time too. Hoping they do justice with the remake.
As a longtime RE fan who grew up on em, playing 2 at the young age of 5, I'll say that 4 is arguably the best of the bunch. Stoked for the remake. But me personally, my favorite is actually Resident Evil Remake. I'd love to see that come out in 4k as well.
I love the remakes aswell think a new remake of the first will be good and then continue to make new im not really a fan of 5 to action like love res7 specially the first part was really creepy vibes need more of that
@@Mrwillyface69 re5 was awesome under one specific circumstance: you had a Significant other to play the game with or close friend. It was a game made for split screen in an Era that has long forgotten about em. Playing alone? Absolutely correct. With a friend? Transformed into something truly special.
@@shanewaters2489 yes agree if playing with a friend split screen it’s brilliant I really do like the atmosphere of beginning of resident evil 7 totally unrelated there is a game due to release couple month called grey hill incedent defo worth while keeping an eye out for that looks promising

A couple of years ago, when I really started getting into the whole series, I began playing RE4 on my uncle's handed down PS2. It was one of the first RE games I actually could play without getting too scared to finish (seeing how before I played I was just a child. Of course I still get frightened, but I'm able to actually continue playing). I fell in love with it, even before I played any others. So I definitely agree that RE4 is superior to all, though each are good in their own respective ways. I'm really hoping the remake to RE4 does it justice
RE4 is my top ranking.. I played that game around 40 time
I remember playing RE2 on the PS1 when I was a kid. Probably the first game to get me scared shitless. So much so that I never beat the game when I was a kid, but my dad did it, and I loved watching him play even though it was a scary game at the time. Without a single doubt my favourite RE game, and possibly my favourite game in general.
RE5 and 6 have been a pretty good experience for me because I played them in college with my roommate from start to finish so we’ve bonded through these games. But I could see why they’ve received a mediocre score.
The thing i loved about 5 and 6 was melee attacks, like 4 had good melee but 5 adding different attacks based on where you shot the enemy and then again based on were you were standing to the enemy just felt amazing and ive missed it in the newer games, like the re7 dlc were you play as chris the boulder puncher brought that back and i loved that, whats more making it give more time in mercenaries when you score a melee kill was the best or counters giving 7 sec instead of 5 in re6, or counters spawning a hidden boss worth alot of points was just great. Meanwhile re8 we got what is more or less a butter knife

Re5 is my absolute favorite RE game. As re4 was for you, is how re5 was for me. I beat that game so many times I couldn't even tell you the number. It was so amazing to me. I never understood why people did not like it. It was simply awesome to me. I'm excited and hoping for the re5 remake
Love to see RE6 get some recognition. I think the community gives it way too much hate, the story arcs are very well put together.
That was my second resident evil game after 4. I absolutely enjoyed playing it. Completed everyone's story line.

Got a lot of hate from the community since it lacked the horror aspect of the original RE games.
But, it showed us the action side of RE... My most favorite one, and 4's the second!
You should see the reviews on Xbox ,almost ever comment say they hated when it first came but now they love it when they replayed it ,that sad ass hell , I notice most people go by review verse playing it themselves
They should make RE6 remake as well to fill in all the bad spots
Resident evil 5, despite all its flaws (the anime ass story, partner A.I.), was actually an amazing co-op experience, very fun to play with a close friend.

RE5 is still my fave, the countless hours ive played with my friends was iconic. Such good memories of being a kid
6 should be an a like how can I not be action based when the characters are rushing to save the entire planet

I definitely agree with you that RE4 is the best RE game ever, maybe best horror game I tend to play and enjoy! I also agree with you that RE8 Village was a S category game! Huge game with so many different enemies and new elements to the world of RE! And graphics were superb!

tbh, out of all Resident Evil, RE7 and RE8 is the only game that became so popular
