Man..James' look changed SO much from 87 to 88/89. He went from that young kid with that teenager voice and no facial hair to the James here. I cant even believe they're the same because how different they seem. He was a scrawny teen then became this Hetfield.
It’s very weird because he was already 24 when he still had the teenager look and sound then by the time he’s 26 he’d completely changed. It’s not normal, by 24 he should’ve been far done growing and changing but then his voice changed and got bigger
they wrote and played their hearts and minds out mid 80s thru early 90s . Nobody (even Slayer) matched them. I love modern Metallica but this quality is just unstustanable for decades.
For all the above reasons - plus Death Magnetic is arguably an underrated album. Its interesting listening to the AI versions of their modern songs using James' younger voice and Metallica's old sound, really highlights they havent changed at all... just older!

The Thing That Should Not Be... Man, that song kicks major ass! It is by far my favorite Metallica song. It just grabs you and doesn't want to let go.
Newsted's tone late in this tour '89 was monstrous AF!
@@zynnertime1 Alcohol charges both your appearance and voice! That's the trick to it!
1987 James 17 year old
1989 James 35 year old
I suspect the moustache.
I blame it on Cliff's death. The things grief can do to you...
That usually happens to guys that go from their teens into their 20s..lol
2:17:10 bye bye cymbal
And Jason just laughing at Lars😂
Metallica at its best! Why can't they continue writing songs like this? Justice for all was their last best album
Cuz they're 30years older can't play fast as did. U got to remember they put out 5albums out in 8years that was awesome 👍👍 amazing.
they wrote and played their hearts and minds out mid 80s thru early 90s . Nobody (even Slayer) matched them. I love modern Metallica but this quality is just unstustanable for decades.
Totalmente de acuerdo
Totalmente de acuerdo
For all the above reasons - plus Death Magnetic is arguably an underrated album. Its interesting listening to the AI versions of their modern songs using James' younger voice and Metallica's old sound, really highlights they havent changed at all... just older!
2:17:09 is so funny cause James said never gonna lose it right when Lars cymbal came off 😂😂🤘😆
47:47 God I FUCKING love you James

@@santiagomattiussi8996 We all love Jason, but James IS Metallica. Brilliant mind
Hetfield is the perfect metal guitarist. The human riff machine.
This was the 1st Metallica concert i saw in Bristol Ct. I was 16 and i was half scared and half pumped. To me, this is the boys at their finest.. James is a beast!
Lake Compounce! was there..The Cult opened..And Justice for All Tour
My older brother was a handyman and electrician at the Hollywood palladium. He took me to their show March 1985 on the Ride tour I was 11, I've been thrashing my whole life pretty much, I just seen them in grand rapids Michigan, still love them.
@@jeramiahhinkle2904 Sick....You saw Cliff...............I did during the MoP tour....Long Beach w/Ozzy....a few weeks b4 he died...AMAZING
That's when they got banned from lake compounce.. fans got out of hand
The REAL METALLICA. The best of the best of Metallica of their entire music career. Do you agree with me?
Releasing the black album after justice was like a punch in the gut. I hate that album and always will. Fucking sell outs.

Gold standard Tallica. This tour was my first concert ever at 14 years of age. Still the best concert I've ever experienced in my life. So many mad moments & insane memories of this show. Even topped fucking AC/DC \m/
29:05 on L.S.D they ride...
Nice
Hilarious
YEAH YEAH
Nice catch
1:26:40 im getting chills by this, just the way he's singing this part. He gives so much feeling to it, especially at 1:26:50 "I lived!"
Hetfield is a god.
bow down little bitch boy
It's not "I lived" but "I'll live".
@@Cthulhu_Awaken its "i lived"
@@4md17 Read the lyrics. The whole line is "but can't look forward to reveal/look to the time when I'll live". Though the song is generally pessimistic, he so wished he would just live his life instead of being trapped in a bed unable to even communicate with the outside world.
Also listen carefully. You can't hear no "d" sound after "live", it's definitely just "live".
@@Cthulhu_Awaken i tought he is looking at the time when he lived because he is almost as dead now
Thanks for the post, great show, the band was at its peak, James’ voice is amazing (miss Jason). Saw Metallica in Fresno, Ca. For the Damaged Justice Tour In Nov. of 88, Queensryche opened for them. Awesome show.
nps1016 I was there at Selland Arena too. They played Leper Messiah....
28:06 Jason roaring 😍😍😍
This must have been directed by Lars - Jason is almost completely ignored by the camera!
