I got an 09with a burned out topend, then got a 22 motor to swap and the 22 has bronze shavings in the oil and a knock, i just want to say thank you for this video, its literally the only one I have found that makes this like it isn't a total nightmare. I decided to part the bike out but if that doesnt go well i may rebuild one or both of the motors.
@nikosatsaves3141 Unfortunately I bailed on it sold it and then through a whole series of events and a major injury I managed to pick up a Ducati Desert Sled for an absolute steal haha
thank you so much for posting this i just blew up my 2004 ltz400 ive had this bike since i was 12. the cylinder failed and bent the crank really bad even smashed the valves... so im just going to do a full rebuild. wish me luck.
When did those springs fall out for the neutral switch? I think mine are still in the engine and I have the dowel pins but I can’t seem to get the springs out. Is it when you take off the case cover?
Good attention to detail. It got put back in there off camera. That’s why you keep everything on the work bench, so if you have an extra part or bolt, you will see it!!
really helpful bro goanna split my case soon and this makes me confident
Nice Video, you help me a lot at the Moment because i rebuild my Engine too :) Hope that the Bike runs well now
Glad it helped, bike runs perfect!
Goid video I'll be doing my ltz soon. Very informative.
thank, let me know if you have any questions!
23:15 A mirrical)) Made my day)))
at 1:04:23 is there a specific torque spec that bolt should be???
Have to check your service manual for your bike model/year. But should be 73ft lbs

No problem, if I was you I would put the hot rods stroker in with the big bore. 466cc of amazing fun.
22 engine with crankshaft damage... these things are indestructible, i wonder what happened
@@nevercommitsuicide dear lord I wish I knew,
Good luck with your Frankenstein project!

20:05 Wow I am impressed. I cant fix mine with 2.

Think about doing the big bore and stoker kit to make it a 466cc. Makes way more power and is a cheaper option for parts.
@@wideopenmoto i put one of those 443cc ones off ebay and it exploded but i will look for the 466 more power never hurts.

They don’t need to come out, either leave them in, or use a dental pick to pull them out
@@wideopenmoto is it possible for them to fall into the engine? I think that’s the case for mine
Not possible…
@@wideopenmoto thank you, must’ve flown out. Great video!
I’m having the same issue that you did at 37:29 can you tell me what you did?
With the long bolt that didn’t fit?
@@wideopenmoto yes, did yours?
Yes I believe it was the bolt right below the clutch actuator.
@@wideopenmoto yes sir that’s the one I’m having issues with. It’s too long and doesn’t fit.
My guess is you have the wrong bolt out in somewhere else
You forgot the bolt inside the starter gear. Probably not a big deal.
