Wide Open Moto Instructional Repair videos, Part sales: Welcome to the Garage
Great video, tnx a lot. Does the mesh filter require any attention during a normal oil/filter change? If not, how often does it require it?
Hey, Ducati recommends every other oil change. However I’ve done that ok some bikes and it’s still clean after 2 oil changes.
Aight, tnx. Would you say that compressed air (can) is enough or do you recommend another approach?
Just exactly how the shift drum goes in matter? I see there’s a pin on one side does it matter if that pin sits on left or right?
Yes it matters how it goes in. Only will work one way. The side with the hole for the bolt will go on the right side.
how do i get off the impeller ?
Easiest when the cover is on the bike, some impellers are LH threds.
@@wideopenmoto when i try to loosen it . the whole motor is spinning. Is impact wrench good idea or im gonna mess my bike .. I own a CR 250 94' if that helps
I use an electric impact on all of them. Just make sure you go the right way.
Congratulations to you and your family! The lemons are always the best reactions, and it takes me back. Time goes quick and those memories are awesome! I’m in the process of building my relic 97 Cr250 with my son (17) as his chosen graded project for his final year, and your bottom end video is constantly on rewind and repeat. Super informative and instructional, and the footage is excellent! It’s taking most of the apprehension and nervousness out of the situation. Keep the videos coming for us amateurs…they’re very much appreciated. Cheers from Canada!
Thank you!! It’s so busy in the shop I haven’t had time to make new videos, but will get back on it shortly and start uploading some more!
The grease application was completely wrong, the grease is to be put in the pin bore in the inner link, the x rings are there to seal the bores so that they stay inside.
Can I cheat and use my Honda ruckus
Yup
@ lol for real ?!
Any bike that has a plate and is street legal you can take the test on.
Thx for the video gonna try this on my 14 GSXR1000
hi ! i have a streetbob 2013 with trashin risers . Is work good?
Yes I can get you one that will work. Let me know if you want a price.
@@wideopenmoto yes please , send me the price
Please reach out on my shop phone. You can find the number on Google “wide open moto 92109”
No mention of both o-rings on the filter, inside and on the cap. Can break down fast.
thanks for sharing, curious why you applied sealant on a rubber gasket?
For all sealing (gaskets, engine cases, etc) I use Threebond 1184. Stuff is the best I have found for sealing and not leaking.
@@wideopenmotoShould not need gasket sealant here as correctly tightened (not over-tight) bolts on a clean undamaged rubber seal is sufficient. Oil in this area of the bike is not under pressure and will not leak unless seal itself has been damaged.
Just wanted to say there is some models of the gsxr that have a clip type piece that's supposed to go under the seal on the pump outlet into the filter housing it holds the seal up. That is essential, you may get the bike to run but it won't run properly. You can't buy that piece you have to get a used pump assembly for it or you can do what I'm going to try, use a piece of fuel hose cut to the right size to hold the seal up and let the lower pump clip latch
do you have a picture? I have a 2014 GSXR 1000 that has a low pressure from the fuel pump. Idk if I should buy a brand new fuel pump OEM or a QFS fuel pump for $100 vs $500 oem
san diego downtown bro
When did those springs fall out for the neutral switch? I think mine are still in the engine and I have the dowel pins but I can’t seem to get the springs out. Is it when you take off the case cover?
They don’t need to come out, either leave them in, or use a dental pick to pull them out
@@wideopenmoto is it possible for them to fall into the engine? I think that’s the case for mine
Not possible…
@@wideopenmoto thank you, must’ve flown out. Great video!
Please tell me how often you need to do this? Thank you!
6200 miles or 10k km
Is that the whole driving test?
Yup!!
Greetings, As always another excellent detailed video production 🇺🇲🍾🎉 🇺🇲 Would you provide me the link to purchase the gasoline tank you have on your bike, thank you so much for assisting me and keep producing more videos about the drz.
Will they allow you to take the test with Honda Navi since it’s on 110cc
Yes any bike/scooter that is registered with the dmv that is street legal
@@wideopenmotothanks for the info
Could you do a video on the shaft oil replacement? Well, all oil changes for the matter on the V7? Haha
Yea the next one that comes in the shop I’ll do that and post it. Follow for more….
@3:16 🤣🤣🤣
I don’t have my insurance because it needed proof of license can I still take the test without it?
You should be able to get insurance with your temp.
You can take m1 license with a grom in CA?
Yup! And motorcycle or scooter that’s registered.
I’m in San Diego wat dmv is this?
Hillcrest
looks like sportsters suck to work on compared to a big twin twin cam is way easier
Is there one for a 2011 superglide custom?
I spoke with GPR today and they don’t make one due to the wider fork stance.
I'm watching this video as I practice in the same DMV
Wat dmv is this?
@@xThe_Wolfx Hillcrest, San Diego
Man that basket was caving a bit, you see on the release... maybe a big spacer under it to keep the pressure centralized would help with that?
Very cool im interested in getting a m1 license and it seems doable :)
Hello, could you tell me which way to loosen the crankshaft shaft bolt? This one where you hold the connecting rod with your hand to be able to loosen the screw, I'm almost breaking the motorcycle's piston and I can't get it loose. thanks
Should be left to loosen, right to tighten. It’s like that on almost every bike. If your having trouble, you’ll need an impact, and possibly some heat
@@wideopenmoto obrigado
Bullet proof Bike!
Had some of these on my DRZ
Very important info.. 👍🏼
Installed 1 a few months ago.. not difficult at all.
Great content Bro.. 🤘🏻
Congrats Brother.. Stay Blessed !
23:15 A mirrical)) Made my day)))
20:05 Wow I am impressed. I cant fix mine with 2.
Big thank you sir. I do all the maintenance on my own bikes but I just got a Guzzi 850 Centenario with 900 miles on it. Figured since this was my "nice" bike, I'd call in to get a quote for an oil change, final drive oil change and to check my valve lash real quick from the Piaggio folks. Got quoted $720! That seems kind of spendy to me. I suppose I'll just keep doing what I always have done. Thanks for reassuring me that this was even easier than all my other motos!
That’s all you do for your M1? I been nervous thinking it’s way more lol
Whats M1?
Not the best way to replace a new bearing.
Of course a press would be great in this situation, which I do have. But your average do it yourself person probably doesn’t. And in this case this would be the best way. Done hundreds of bearings this way and never once had an issue installing or down the road after hard use.
Do they ask you to flip headlights to high beam? My high beam don’t work no more or do they just ask where is the switch for low and high
I’ll he honest I don’t remember 100%, but I don’t think that is required. But likely if the high beam isn’t working, it’s your bulb, or the high beam fuse. Pretty easy fix…
Wow
You holding the clutch in and Gassinf it or just riding back break
Lots of feathering the clutch and light braking.
First time rider Duke 200. I have my test in morning. I’m nervous as as hell
You’ll do great dude! Just don’t over think the test, and don’t worry about failing, you can always take it again.
Thanks I currently have my bike permit with 19 hours on it for 605 miles. I currently need to do my first tuneup in which I wish I could give it myself but I’m not that confident I’m a baby learning 200.Duke regret buying the bike, but for now I will do in regards to the test and get service and anxious and I can’t concentrate properly until I’m fully relaxed. I watched a bunch of videos and basically just looks like they’re gonna check my signals my switches, and then make me drive straight line, slow speed, more faster, speed without going out of the lines and without falling and then it looks like counterclockwise twice or swerve between the cones and then come counterclockwise. Come back in the line then it looks like they have me go back in the lines opposite direction twice and then come straight back out, but I’m going to San Isidro DMV tomorrow because the DMV is completely packed and I never been to San Isidro, I will try to drive tonight just to see what it looks like
Yes, another tip, make sure to follow the directions they give you, if you are unclear ask them to repeat. Especially when going in and out of the cones.
Ok
500 bucks plus. Hard to choke down for most folk GPR.
This was well worth it, the fact that the bike feels that much more stable at speeds is priceless. On that note, I’m a dealer for GPR so if you are anyone else wants a great deal on one, please reach out.
@@wideopenmoto I'm a PORG. {poor old retired guy) I complain about what a 73 yr old should. That is, Do I still have food money left over? I think 200 to 250 bucks and they would still make a buck,
@@wideopenmotoI have a 2010 dyna street bob, looking to get one. How do I go about buying one through you ?
Hey sorry I don’t sell bikes, just fix them.
@@wideopenmoto no I’m talking about the stabilizer, you mentioned your a dealer for GPR ?
do we have a mechanical seal video yet?
Hey no i dont have a video yet for that. Next ones that comes in i will make it.
Can you use a different brand rivet master link?
In an emergency I would say you can, for the long term I would not use a different brand master link. The dimensions can be different and ultimately lead to a failure.
In an emergency I would say you can, for the long term I would not use a different brand master link. The dimensions can be different and ultimately lead to a failure.
What dmv is it, in San Diego? Thanks
Hillcrest
Great video! I would have sandblasted the exterior of that case and maybe even cerakoted some of the covers. Amazing job tho!
wish there was a diagnostics video out there. my wr450f is making a nasty rattle noise on the clutch side and ive been looking for months and can find any information on it at all.
Thanks for the input. I’ll try to get some diagnostic videos out soon. But your bike, My suggestion is to take apart and start inspecting everything.
Video was a big help. Thanks. But my clutch basket will not sit flush on the shaft it goes on. It’s up just a bit. Any suggestions?
Need to make sure it’s meshed with the gears behind. Something isn’t sitting all the way down.
