I read some coments saying the rear rotors are installed on the wrong sides. You do not install rotors based on the drill pattern but rather the fins on the inside of the rotor. If the fins are angled they face the rear regardless or drill pattern. If the cooling veins are straight you do whatever you find aesthetically pleasing.
Got a letter (Sept 2018) Mercedes-Benz Extended Warranty Coverage Addendum SBC/ Electronic Brake system. This extends the warranty of the SBC unit to 25 years and unlimited miles for E-class years 2003-06, CLS MY2006, SL MY2003-12, Maybach MY, SLR MY2005-09. My 2006 E320 SBC quit 02/2016 just after the original 10 year warranty ran out. Just got a check from Mercedes for the total cost of the repair ($1694.20) that I did not have done by Mercedes. It was the first repair I had done not by Mercedes because in my last visit to Mercedes black death was discovered and they recommended I go elsewhere.

You’re right about aesthetics, the stock front calipers are extremely good and more than capable of superior stopping power, the E46 M3 uses single piston front calipers with huge drilled discs and that has excellent stopping power whereas a E60 530d use a 4 piston caliper as standard just like the W211 does...
I have a friend who who did a Weistec supercharger swap and other engine upgrades on his CLS AMG. He found an O from a Ford Fusion and is now marked OMG.

@@DouglasHopkins DPFs by their very nature have a limited lifespan, the main thing you could do to make a DPF last longer is to driver longer distances and occasionally give it more revs. If your car starts at all with the plugged DPF, what you wanna do is go for a 100km drive at 3000ish rpm and there's a chance it'll burn off the excess particulate residue and un-stuff the DPF. And you'll want to do some wide-open-throttle accelerations as well, of course. I don't know how inspections work in your country, in mine a lot of people do a DPF delete - it'll require some ECU programming and it's technically illegal in the EU, but you gain power, fuel economy and reliability. Saves you a LOT of money. Emissions will be a BIT worse, but it's just some extra soot - you can just burn that off with the ol' "Italian Tuneup" (WOT runs when the engine is up to operating temperature).

Alex! Love your channel, could I suggest an idea? I would probably fit a block of wood between Rotor and Ball joint arm, when doing the pressing out of the ball joint, I noticed a fair amount of torque and force being exerted on the steering rod etc Food for thought as they say. Cheers. 👍
Here are some of the cost saving reasons in an automotive factory: 1. one less drawing to be made. 2. one less part number to be generated in the BOM (bill of material). 3. one less part number to be purchased. 4. one less part to be received and inspected. 5. one less potential rejection for non-conformance. 6. one less part to keep track for logistics. 7. one less part to be moved from warehouse to the staging area. 8. one less part to be picked up by robot or human during assembly. Increasing TAKT time. 9. one less part to potentially create jam in the robot. 10. one less part to forget by human assembler, potentially create warranty issue. Multiple this by thousands of washers per car, and tens of millions of cars. Even if there are washers required such as spring lock washers, captive lock washers are used to avoid some of the pitfalls and save time.
I say leave the CDI badging for sure. This does look like a factory upgrade, and it should have been. It sure would look good if you painted those rotor hubs satin black. They're going to be rusty and crappy looking in no time. Thanks for another great video!
super nice video.... but dude... I'am about 85 kilo and to get the carrier bolts loose on an e-class i 'am swinging out of a breaker bar... can't be that they just pop loose for ye... can it? Em Flange Bolt ( but you knew that already).. we cut the shoulders of the ball joint off (carefully) with a cutting disk so you have more meat to push against. You can use a normal hydraulic press then. A must for sprinters.
Make sure the CDI master cylinder and ABS is up to the task of working those jumbo calipers. BRAKES are really important. swapping parts just for bling is a bad idea.
I am curious about putting E55 brakes on a 4matic. I have a 04 E500 4matic that I swapped a E55 engine into and I was also planning to swap the brakes over from the donor car as well. If you don't come across the answer I will try and bolt them up over the coming weeks and make a follow up video for you if you don't mind.
How did you deactivate the sbc pump for braking system on this e320 cdi? Service manuals indicate needing xentry star diag tool to deactivate them so that they don’t lock up brakes on replacement

Great video, but aren't the rotors directional? I mean the are all the same in the video but two of them will rotate in the other direction, so where one side is sucking in the others side is blowing out....

I may have found the man whom can save me from myself on this project! I installed the very same calipers in this video onto an SRT8 Cherokee, after doing everything i can possibly think of, cannot get them to hold pressure, and function properly. I am atthe point of considering, larger master, double diaphragm booster, changing line sizes, before doing so...i hope you may offer some insight? Secondly, and more importantly....your content is outstanding, thanks in advanve.
The brake system (SBC) on this vehicle is electric over hydraulic (Electro-hydrauling), so there is no master cylinder forcing fluid to the calipers. Instead there is a hydraulic pump, pressure reservoir, and valve body to control how much brake pressure is applied to each caliper individually.
@legitstreetcars I love this video but will the master cylinder on the cdi be able to push all that fluid to the 4 pot and 6 pot calipers without a new master cylinder or brake booster? Ik alot of VW guys have trouble installing brembo 17z 6 pot calipers without having a huge pedal travel and mushy brake feel
My thoughts also.. coming from a brake n clutch specialist (retired) master Cylinder needs to be bigger... booster would be the same...only vacuum I'd presume?
Hi LSC I have been wanting to put these brakes on my 2004 Acura NSX. I don’t know what all I need to do to make it work but I’ve always loved these brakes on my E55 and think they would look incredible on my NSX. I can probably get brackets made but heard I need to do calculations on if there will be enough fluid for the bigger calipers etc. Figured I would ask and see if you could give any insight. In Europe we got the C30 CDI AMG (W203) with a 3.0 5 cilinder and 230hp. It began its life has a C270 CDI 2.7 enlarged to a 3.0

4matic... Alex you should do a 4matic conversion. That would be sick plus make driving in the winter so much better. Just sayin😉

No that sbc system has electric pump on the abs unit the brings pressure super high and its on all of those cars with that system

I can probably get brackets made but heard I need to do calculations on if there will be enough fluid for the bigger calipers etc. Figured I would ask and see if you could give any insight. Aren’t directional rotors available? Seems all I see are single direction which makes one side backwards
