IT SHOULD GO BACK TO THE ORG OWNER !!!!!!!!! MAKE IT HAPPEN !!!!! MAKE A DEAL!!! THAT'S WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT!!!!
I feel great for Russ, cleared his name and got to drive his truck again. Seems like a great guy.
Russel got all choked up talking about this truck, and it's obvious it was his pride and joy.
But I think deep down he's glad it got revived, back on the road and in good hands instead of it being dumped and sold for parts.
Saturday mornings used to be for cartoons, now it’s for LSC!!!
True!
😅😂😅😂
Agreed
Legit Saturday Cartoons
This!!
Russ is such a great guy for meeting up with you. What happened to him could easily happen to a lot of us. Thanks for sharing your story Russ. Alex, another great series!
As an avid fisherman/boat owner, truck owner and LSC viewer, This series has been great… but to end it off with an AT THE RAMP interview WITH the original owner is sooo awesome!!
Man you can see it all over ol' buddy face. He really cared about his truck. Almost bittersweet im sure. Thanks for coming on Russ and sharing your story! Thanks to you Alex, for giving him some closure. I bet he appreciated it.
As a lifetime boater, when Russ said ramps get busy...all of the stress and anxiety from people mean-mugging and yelling at us when I'm taking my time came back like a ton of bricks. I FEEL that, Russ. I'm glad you guys decided to get together and have that conversation. I'm sure it will help a ton of people. Just remember, BOAT = Break Out Another Thousand. 🤣🤣
That's why I always wear my side piece hip holster at the boat ramp, helps eliminate unnecessary comments.
Lol, here in Alberta. We only deal with idiots using our boat launches as beaches ⛱️. There are very few paved ones on the rivers here.
Love the acrostic use of boat brotha I love that analogy 😅.. peace and love brotha. L8z

@ lol, great vibes my guy! back at ya!
Glad Russ came out to meet and tell his story. Totally understand his reluctance because of the internet trolls but the messaging about maybe being in a hurry being a contributor is a good lesson for anyone! He seems like a stand up guy! Great vid as always Alex.
this is our new power nation on early Saturday mornings
But way better
Without the 50 advertisers during the show.
@@Fudoshin01 it was cable tv lol
Way better without the whole show trying to sell us something we don't need.
Power nation is still making videos 😂
Russ was the coolest dude ever, great video.
This has been one of my favorite series you’ve ever done
Love how Alex gets his wife involved. She just adds another layer to the videos. Great video guys.
What a nice guy to come tell the story. I'm sure it was pretty emotional across the board.
A few notes about cleaning those seats:
Don't use a blower first. That will blow around all the dry mold spores and make them airborne. Wet first, wipe away, then use the blower as the very last step if you wish to help drying.
A steamer will NOT kill things in the seat. It will irritate them, but it won't kill off bacteria and mold. That takes a very specific temperature, and the steam coming out of the nozzle isn't hot enough to reach that temperature, nor is just spraying a seat long enough to heat the leather up to the required kill temperature. It is why they are called a Steam Cleaners. You will want to use something specifically made for mold/mildew/bacteria. There are many sprays that will do this (for mold and mildew check out boat cleaners) that can also be safe for leather.
While Release is an "all surface cleaner", you really should of used a leather cleaner. APC's have a tendency to dry out the leather, where leather cleaners don't.
The myth that steam cleaners will sanitize a surface is just that, a myth. They do make excellent cleaners for so many surfaces, but again, they will not kill off bacteria, mold, or mildew.
You may also want to pull the leather off the cushions so the foam can get access to the air. It "shouldn't" hold water in like the headrests, but the foam is just a sponge, and the center of those seats could still have moisture in them, and hold it, for a very long time.
I’m dumbfounded that Alex got this thing running and functioning nearly perfectly. Unreal. Bravo Alex.
Alex, I can't tell you how grateful I am for these Saturday morning videos. It has been a ritual for me for 1 year+ now, and I just can't thank you enough.
Thanks so much for watching!!
why not showing the shark with 300kg on the grill?😅
@@LegitStreetCars It’s truly our pleasure!
This is far from a typical scenario! Fixing the submerged truck was a long shot and an ambitious feat. BUT.... driving it to the original owner and his being able to drive it again... That never happens!!! Alex you are nothing short of incredible. Russ - I feel you. I could see it on your face.
Alex got real lucky with this truck as a lot of the parts were either salvageable or still in good working condition as they were sealed.
Worst case scenario would've seen him replace every electrical/electronic part and harnesses in the truck due to corrosion/water damage, leading to an expensive repair job. It's still early days and we don't know if or how long any of the water damaged/corroded parts will last.
So far, Alex got a banger of a deal.
Right
Russ seems like genuinely nice guy! Good you found him Alex and great work on the Silverado! Cheers from Sweden
i can see ex owner almost cry when drive... this gives everyone an idea about how is important to love our ride and give proper maintenance and cuddle to let them last longer they could. Italian supporter with a Ford Focus over 510.000 km , gasoline 1.6 liter naturally apsirate, less or more 250.000 mile on odometer.
This episode exemplifies why I watch Alex. The passion he puts into his vehicles and the understanding of others whose cars are more than a way to get around.
Whatever you own, be proud of it. I know people who own every spectrum of cars, owners of super cars, high end luxury to basic beaters. If you put your heart into it, then we can talk.
"Enjoy the drive"

@@arnicus208Need a comma after "too," though. 😂
I actually got emotional over this video as someone who lost a vehicle to a flood. Russ looked as if he wanted to cry. Alex, I am highly impressed with your skills and love for these projects, LSC for life.
You've got my wife hooked on this series and she's not even interested in cars. Way to go Alex and Max!
You can tell when you pulled up and he seen his old truck he was hurting he loved that truck, if you ever sell it you should definitely contact him first.
Yup
I was thinking the whole time, I bet he'd love to have it back.
I hope you hang on to this truck for a few years just to see the long term issues that may come up. Great job! Good luck!
The Deoxit is the key to this truck lasting more than a couple months. I've had great success using it on fresh waster flooded vehicles.
ALEX READ THIS.....! Ok now that I have your attention when you go to disable afm take it all completely out of the engine. I had a 2015 sierra and I had the afm system turned off through tuning and the afm lifters still failed and my top end had to be rebuilt twice. The only true way to disable it is completely remove it. Hope this helps. Love the videos man!
Check his back catalog. He already did this on his police car (Holden) Caprice.
I just love you got in touch with the previous owner and did the interview with him. That is too cool.
Deoxit is one of my favorite electronics cleaning chemicals, at least when playing with old vehicle electrical systems.
Their D100 liquid is a miracle worker when working on crusty old wiring. While working on a 1978 Porsche, I have been putting a drop of Deoxit D100 on every connection I touch, and have had it break down corrosion and bring circuits back together with little to no direct intervention.
I restore old 8 bit computers for folks and it can’t be done without Deoxit. It is a must have can.
Russ seemed like a really good guy. I never thought about something like a bed cover sealing so well that it might float the ass end of the pickup like that. With the pickup being in just 2W drive it makes sense how it happened so fast. He pulls boat off trailer pulling truck back into water but floating it releasing the drive wheels off the ground.... and down she went. That's really cool you were able to find him and share the whole story. Fun as always.
Where my Silverado guys at? Whatcha Got?
Hopes and dreams of owning one 😅
2018 silverado on a 7 inch lift running 37s
2002 1500 rust bucket here.
I think that i'll be keeping the 2004 Cadillac Escalade ESV with 76k miles for a bit longer.. but the Silverado is a great truck!
15 Z71. I want that electric back window dearly.
Fun fact, my friend Brian Scurra who was a BMX legend back in the day, invented the gyro that lets the handlebars spin all the way around. He is an awesome dude.
Hope he patented it
@@Capydachi He did, and did very well with it.
yup the odyssey gyro. when he left odyssey he started SST. he couldn't use the gyro name anymore so he changed it to oryg. my 1999 dyno air has an sst oryg. cool bmx history.
A "Flood Line" decal would be awesome!
That would be funny. Not a s line or r line. But lsc flood line.
Glad you saved it, and glad Russ got to see the truck.
In 2016, after heavy rains, my 2014 Jeep Wrangler (60k miles) got flooded in 40 inches of lake water for 2 days. (Deep enough to where the console was full of water.) Insurance totaled it and cut us a check for 34k. I bought it back for $7500, even after loads of people thought it was a bad idea due to all the electrical gremlins I would have down the road. I yanked and cleaned the interior, replaced one front axle and both wheel seals, two idler pulleys, and changed all the fluids. Seven years and 80k miles later I've had to fix and whole lot of . . . nothing . . . just routine maintenance. I.E. Brakes, one battery, one clock spring, and one wheel speed sensor.
Probably one of the Best videos I’ve ever watched! How cool was it to meet the original owner and have him explain exactly what happened!! 🙌🏻🇺🇸
I have a ‘14 Sierra. 6.2/6spd. 200k with the original drivetrain and the AFM is still active. I run 0w-20 Kirkland oil from Costco (gasp). It’s been a great truck for me, I know others will disagree from their experience.
I used that “Guaranteed to Pass” stuff on my 95 M3 that had high-flow cats for its final emissions test before it got antique tags. I ran 2 bottles through a full tank of gas, filled it back up and went straight to the emissions station (after getting it nice and hot). Passed with flying colors!
Congrats to Max! A 90 minute video edit is massive! Both of these guys work their asses off.
Hey Bro I have never said this to you or commented this on your any video that I am huge fan of you and I have been following you and watching your videos throughly from last 6 or 7 years and I am Mukul from India Delhi... and lots of love and blessings from India to you.... keep on going strong brother....
Moped central!
I ended up with two penlights and I love it! Max was awesome on shipping issues that cropped up initially. Couldn’t be happier though!
Still not crazy about the truck, but damn the storytelling and learnage is off the charts!
Thanks Pat! I appreciate you still watching
You must be a Ford guy.
@@jeffrogers2180 I am, but I also know GM trucks are pretty great. But my objection WAS philosophical, I guess: there is nothing screaming “LSC!” On this truck. But then I remember what people do to 5.3 and I realise the potential for LSC-ness…
@@LegitStreetCars I wouldn’t miss it for anything! Thanks for your channel!!!
This is the best series yet… and I’ve watched EVERY video Alex has made.
I used that Siless 80mm sound dampening material from Amazon on my Golf R when i did a rear seat delete. . Removed the entire interior and covered every inch of the body. Its like a completely different car. Doesn't smell, and was easy to install. Just get a metal roller to smooth it out. No more road noise .
I have basically this truck also a 2015 in Ocean Blue metallic. This has been your best series by far. Probably because I own a truck like this and a lot of other people own Silverados. They're great trucks even though they do have some gremlins like the DOD and the transmission. Mine has 63k on the clock, and so far I've added the bypass for the transmission thermostat and an external cooler. I put in the amp power steps and I will eventually do the DOD delete. Thanks so much for these series of videos they've been very informative and entertaining. Keep up the good work
An hour and a half? Alex, you spoil us!
You know you're old if you're exited for a working lumbar support 😂😂
Love the videos. I have a 17 Sierra Denali and it’s been a great truck. A few things I recommend ( I know you already have an Escalade that’s this body style but still):
Remove the rear window defrost fuse. They’ve been known to blow the window out on non single piece rear glass.
Delete the vacuum pump for brakes. It’s one less thing to worry about and my brakes are even better now. It just takes some booster vacuuming hose and a few fittings.
Check your grounds. These trucks have had known issues with grounds in and around the dash and especially since yours has seen water I’d double check them.
Love your videos and I’ve been watching ALONG time!
"Remove the rear window defrost fuse. They’ve been known to blow the window out on non single piece rear glass." That sounds almost like the VW/Audi heated washer nozzles. Only that, when those let go, they set the entire hood on fire, usually totalling the car due to melted stuff in the engine bay. After several people I know had their cars damaged or totaled, I now just immediately unplug those things. They don't really do anything anyway (other than causing car fires), and unplugging them wont even throw a code on 95% of VAG cars.
Amazing series and finding the original owner and getting the true story is next level! You could tell how much he loved that truck. Epic.
That Previous owner seems like a really cool guy. I feel like we'd be buddy's having beers out fishing haha.
I'm glad it worked out so good for you Alex. It was nice to learn the full story on it.
The wholesome drive with your wife is everything! Amazing video!
I really enjoyed this! Sitting in an outside shed (due to a habit I can't do in the house) with snow falling outside, I hardly noticed the temperature. That is until I couldn't move my fingers!
All worth it!
Alex, you have to replace all airbags! Moisture can cause the chemical reaction to be too powerful and send shrapnel flying upon deployment. Buy used if you have to, but please don’t use the bags in that truck!
I never would’ve thought about that
What shrapnel?
May impact insurance as well…
They can be dangerous regardless but great heads up
@@Nicedreams314maybe he is thinking of the Takata airbag recall for shrapnel applies to all brands
That's an awesome rebuild Alex. It's really cool to be able to get the full back story on how it was flooded out. The previous owner looked like he was glad to see it again but sad that it's not his anymore. I would be the same way!
I was getting ready to go to the store and had my car warming up and literally left it idling the whole time i watched your video after i saw it pop up. It was warm when i went out anyway. Haha.
This is my Saturday morning ritual brother …. Chicago native ,,,, one , two , “chreee”! Very cool you found the original owner finally . It’s like having closure .. Your attention to detail is impressive and inspiring Alex. I’m a life long woodworker , so that’s also number one in my trade.. 🎉

Let’s goooooooo!!!
You and your wife are such a good team! She seems to be really supportive of your passion for cars and is such a good sport about some of the insane stuff you do when you want to ‘borrow’ a part off of the car she has to drive the kids around in! Nice to see how much your family gets involved in your channel and businesses. Great job on the Chillverado!
My favorite TEAM on all of TH-cam! Thank you for such an amazing video! Keep up the good work, Max and Alex!
Alex, I loved this series and all of them to be honest. It’s awesome that you got to meet with the previous owner. Keep doing what you’re doing! Big fan from Indiana.
Telling by the photos and floodline, i say the insurance company committed insurance fraud by knowingly advertising the truck with a false flood line. J/s
Yup. And they will continue to get away with it.
I doubt the adjuster showed up at the boat ramp and made a best guess estiimate.
Five years ago I bought a 1977 BMW R100RS motorcycle that I used to clean for its first owner. I never ride it but I bought it to complete the story from him and the much younger me to the now much older me and the memory of him. I think these back stories are as important as the vehicles themselves. Lovely work and even lovelier story.
Your videos are not just entertainment, they are a source of inspiration and learning. Thank you for your hard work and dedication!🐼😋🐴
We just had a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee in our shop that was involved in a house fire. Had a few melted trim pieces on the outside, and smoke soot and smell. Insurance totaled it. 15k miles, ran and drove perfect, no codes. It was about 70k new.
Someone had a good day at the auction.
Your videos are always full of creativity and style. Thank you for your skill.🖤🌒🙂
You need an emblem made that says Lake Edition
OK, now I've finished the video and over the shock of Russ being 60! (Looking great)
What a brilliant episode! Just perfectly rounding off every part of the repair and story 👌
AN HOUR AND 30
YESSSSSSSSSSS, I can get so much cleaning done
Yes it could have happened to anyone and that’s how accidents are! What a nice guy and I can tell he loved the truck. I totally understand that! I have a 47 year old one that I can never let go of!
This is cool, all that happened, met the owner, so 😎
Go ahead and disable the AFM ASAP. I have a 2005 Silverado Z71 with 301,000 miles; original engine and tranny. Everything still works. Oil and filter changed every 6 months(5-6,000 miles), not giving it up for anything. Runs and drives great, purchased in 2017 for $8,500. Best purchase I've ever made. Found out it has remote start one month after purchase, didn't come with a remote but found one on Amazon for the remote start. Great video series!
Even though it was fresh water, it’s absolutely wild how much actually does work in that truck based on the fact that it was fully submerged
I had a friend who bought a used prius that worked she got it. The issue was that overtime the electronics stopped working and she figured out it was originally a flood damaged car. Overtime the corrosion will eat at the wiring and electronics and cause issues. It's not like an engine that gets hydrolocked but a slow demise. It's not impossible to restore a flood damaged car but depends on what's been damaged.
I bought a 99 Town Car where the cowl was leaking and flooded the interior floor with about five inches of water. It sat for a year. I M definitely going to try using my tool batteries on a couple seat motors. But I stripped it out and cleaned, ozoned it, new carpets. Like new-ish now.
your detective work was virtually spot on ... 👍
Just want you to know just how much I enjoy your videos. I consider your channel one of the top channels on TH-cam. You are not afraid of work and it's terrific... I'm a big fan..👏👍
What a good sport Russ is, I was in the Coast Guard and I’ve seen every kind of boat accident from novice to experienced sea dogs and sometimes 💩 happens. Great job on the restoration.
Amazing that it runs again, credit to Chevy for making such high quality connections and yet cheap replacement parts. And that blue paint is gorgeous.
Great series! I don’t have a boat but now I know boating ramp could have massive slick algae. It was a great PSA for everyone. You helped viewers learn something new and important.
Hour and a half whoot. Sit down with my bowl of cereal. The Milwaukee is back
Of all your videos . . this has been my favorite. You're amazing to take on such a project.
You've come so far with your pronunciation of console. I'm so proud of you!
This is the adult version of Saturday morning cartoons. I love it!
Russ is a stud! I feel the same way he does about vehicles, as I’m sure most that watch this channel do, that it’s hard to see a well taken care of vehicle go down the road. What a great video seeing his genuine happiness when he realized his truck was brought back to its former glort
You should massage your sound deadening mats with something like a roller to get better result. Also water can get underneath it and make your floor rust...
I vote he makes a LSC matting, as much as it gets used and put in basically all the cars that get torn down that far 😅💪🏽🤙🏽🤘🏽✌🏽
Just finished watching the video and I'm blown away at how that Truck was saved by you and it's a testament to how Russ took care of it and feel so bad for him. I love to see people taking care of vehicles and making them last. Vehicles are too expensive these days not too.

thanks to you guys advertising the fanttick i actually just bought my fanttick 2 weeks ago got a whole kit for 99 bucks what a deal, and it actually started my car when I thought it was a totally separate issue for it not starting, this thing made the car crank faster than I ever heard it crank lmao. Nothing better than a bowl of Frosted Flakes and a Legit Street Car video to start your Saturday morning. Great job Alex! You are always so calm and explain everything so well it's actually relaxing to watch. Keep it up my friend. Yours is by far my favorite auto repair channel.
I like how you both are wearing blue it goes with the truck. Awesome job Alex its a joy to watch all your videos and see the people you make wonderful connections with!
When you backed the car up to the ramp, the car is saying no no, I been here before lol.
Uk sub, What I like about LSC is Alex's passion for what he does, some car channels I subscribe to are all about the revenue climbing, and they go from car to car climbing up to supercars and high end luxery cars, and to be honest they are getting boring.
Alex you come across as just loving what you do and buy the cars you really like, and as long as the bills are paid you are happy doing what you do (yes you need a bigger shop).
I have collected cars for 20 years, and in my mid 50's and have 35 cars, friends say why don't you have a *****, because i don't want one is my answer.

You are talented Alex. I also really like how you unobtrusively insert the sponsored content, i had to say. I don't know about your family but from what i can see and feel 'on screen', you guys are amazing and it really helps, somewhat, in some ways, in the grand scheme of being a 'disconnected' viewer with a life of his own. Thank you for the content
Really enjoyed this video. I'm very impressed with the Silverado, your video is a good sales ad IMO, the fact that it was underwater and then frozen without any particular attention to salvaging it, the complete power train was full of water/ice and then how well it responded to some drying out, fluid changes and diagnostics and runs great is really impressive. This truck could have gone to scrap very easily and that would have been a shame!
$10,100 in it is amazing as well! Add 50 hours of your labor at $100/hr and you still have a steal! Very nice work!!!
Alec, I think the Silverado build is probably one of the best videos you’ve had in a while. I really enjoyed the transformation permit. I’m a truck guy myself. You got a heck of a deal and you got a pretty solid truck at things either way you can’t go wrong with what you did. I love your show. Love your products.
Russ was such a great guy! Fantastic getting the full story of what happened.
