Gotta pay respect to the 56k dial up...staying up all night until the folks were done with phone calls then go take a shower and when you came back you were signed on AOL instant messenger, the OG Tinder/Facebook messenger /etc. Then if you were a pimp, you had that ICQ messenger where you could ditch looking at everyones screen name and change everyone so you see just their nickname or real name. (because let's be honest, you'd forget who the hell it was and it was extremely embarrassing confessing your undying love to the wrong person after a long night of drinking.) I just remembered you could share files and mp3s with friends, that was a game changer if you were making a mix CD, but hadn't ventured into the world of IRC file sharing yet.
The second I find out when the entry level is released I'm immediately taking PTO from work and making SURE that I am at my computer when this drops. I can't imagine this stays in stock longer than 15 seconds, it's going to sell out IMMEDIATELY. What an amazing deal.

Right!?!? Gonna be so pissed if it's yet another product that sells out in seconds and then shows up on r/MM a couple weeks later for three times the price. That shots getting old.
Holy shit man. This video was an instant reason to subscribe for me. Informative, well shot, dope intro song, and immaculate beard. All boxes checked. Time to go binge watch content.
If they can actually stock these things, that nk65 entry is PERFECTION. I grew up with everything from Gameboys to custom ds's and customers with this trans purple and I have got to say this is simply perfection in keyboard to me. The look is just above and beyond to me
Worth noting: if you're considering any aftermarket keycaps, MOST kits will NOT include those three 1u keys to the right of the space bar in their base kit and a few will support the right shift size in their base kit. This means buying aftermarket key sets you won't be able to by many budget sets and you'll often have to buy an extra modifier style kit for those 1u keys, that can potentially be an extra $50 per set. Though KAT key profile sets do include full support for this layout in their standard sets, and support is becoming more common.
omg, so nice to see you plugging wildcat! i fall asleep to her typing videos all the time, definitely the best Keyboard ASMR youtuber around! such satisfying content. good lookin out for other members of the community
Quickly becoming my favorite tech channel! Looking at keyboards right now, and I really want to start customizing more. Tired of basic prebuilds. Entry all the way.
A lot of (general) tech youtubers tend to be hit or (more than likely) miss when it comes to custom keyboards. Your vids on the subject have always been well informed and done, though!
I think it's pretty cool that they included a coiled cable, even if it's super basic. When I learned that custom coiled cables were a thing, it changed everything. Now I make my own and they're as good as any of the SpaceCables if not nicer. Purple is my favorite color, and I'd like a PC board, so this is pretty ideal for me haha.
As someone who owns a very budget GK61 and has been looking to get into the keyboard enthusiast hobby, when I saw Taeha unbox the Entry, I knew I was sold. I knew when I heard $95 I was thrown into the rabbit hole. GMK, here I come!
To anyone who wangs to get something similar to the NK65 entry but doesn’t want pay resell, check out the Drop Carina! Extremely similar to the entry but 5 dollar less! I think the stabilizers are the same one used by the Alt though.
I don't subscribe to a lot of people nor do I like a lot of videos but your videos are very accurate and informative and I always like every single one of them. You pretty much nail everything every single video and helped me learn more than most other youtubers. One question though, is there much of a difference between MassDrop Alt (regular) and the MassDrop Alt High Profile? I want to get the high profile but I will have to wait a month or two and the regular one is in stock right now. Thanks and much support!
You can remove a reasonable amount of ping by lubing the springs and putting a mousepad under your keyboard. Also, since your mic is standing on your desk, the sound it captures is more aggressive. Keep up the great videos!
I was on my way to bed since it's 1 am where I live, but I can't make myself postpone watching a Badseed video about keyboards, I simply can't. So here we go!
@@JAYWAL check 3:35. From what I learned from 3ILDCAT's youtube video: the facing means which side the led slot is pointing to: if the switch is installed with led slot on top, it is north facing, and vice versa. Basically North facing is more friendly with shine through keycaps, providing better lighting effects; the downside is it may interfere with GMK keycaps (should be good for most other brands) and cause more noise. While South facing is friendly to most keycaps, the led mounting hole is located on the bottom side of the key switch, which limits the volume of lights that can shine through.
Nice video work, and great content creation voice you got. Love these pre built reviews for those of us less inclined to spend a huge amount of time building a custom. Think I'll hop in on the entry level board, and great take on the boards. Keep it up 👍

I always look forward to your videos and this one didn't disappoint. Great work. I have a question. Based on your experience what do you think the closest KB to the Ducky Mecha Mini is? I love the simple design, small (or lack of) bezels, raised switches, and weight of the board, but I made the mistake of getting Mx Blue switches.
What is meant at 3:30 regarding the hotswap sockets on the ALT? I'm waiting on one rn and am curious to what mod you're talking about. Thanks! Edit: typo
NK65 has the advantage of supporting 5-pin (also called PCB mount switches. Also for newbies: 5-pin support = 5 pin AND 3 pin support). While there's no huge disadvantage to PCB mount vs Plate mount (aka 3-pin switches), it does technically hold onto the board more. Devaluing your switches aside (potential buyers can be turned off by 3-pin switches if you decide to resell), you will need spend even more time with your switch to clip every fuggin' extra two pins off to convert to a 3-pin.
Brian P! I've always appreciated your views and find myself agreeing with you the most outta all the other tech streamers on youtube. So would really like your opinion on whether this is the best barebones kit to get for a beginner like myself?
I have a set of NKPC gradient PBT keycaps that would probably look awesome on the NK65 Entry. They are side lit, so the LED shining through the lower portion of the switch will probably illuminate them well!
Man I was SO keen on getting the NK65 Entry after seeing this video. Thought it would look fantastic with GMK Q:01. Got that keycap set in the mail today but the NovelKeys checkout button ****ing broke when I tried to checkout at 2:00:05 AM, literally 5 seconds after it went live. Couldn't enter checkout until after the entire drop sold out. Seems like hundreds or thousands of others had the same experience based on Twitter, Facebook and Discord posts. I've only seen posts from like 3 people saying they actually got through checkout. Most people are saying we were outdone by bots, which is very disappointing if that is the case. I hope NK will comment on why the checkout button was broken and whether there will be cancelled bot orders, but I honestly don't expect they will say anything publicly. :/
Welcome to first come first serve high end mech keyboard sales. Getting something like this was going to be borderline impossible from the start for the average person. I know people with like 20+ friends all going in at the same time just to resell later for double the price, and bots are a very real thing. Better to just know you won't get one and to look at the after market in a few weeks and prepare to spend 300+ dollars for the entry from someone just flipping the board for profit. It sucks but that's where this hobby and community are at currently
@@Sphierro It's mainly the checkout button thing that bothers me the most, I've participated in drops like this in the past and I know you've gotta be quick and there's a degree of luck involved. If these things are meant to be like a race, then this was like having your shoes glued to the starting line. I was there for the last KBD67 drop in May which had over 7000 people going for 1500 keyboards and there were no checkout issues there at all. I scored the model I wanted which sold out in 1 minute, part of that was luck but KBDfans also took appropriate anti-bot measures leading up to the time of drop, which I guess I expected the same thing from NovelKeys. Not sure exactly what happened but I hope in the next drop they will take appropriate measures to at least ensure the website functions correctly so we actually have a chance, however small it may be.
Hey Brian, a potential idea for a future video, a comparison between all the silent switches you can get your hands on. You could test amount of sound dampened, squishyness, tactile vs linear.
Entry all the way man taking it back to that 90s N64 and Playstation seethrough plastic. I recently ordered a bare bones alt and some holy pandas to try out, they should arrive sometime july i think. I was going to try some Cream switches but didn't want to chop the stems off, so this board right here (matrix has hotswap too but i like this asthetic more) right up my alley to continue trying out switches :) until i am confident enough to try my own solder build.
I like the purple. Gives me GBA vibes plus it would look dope in my purple and teal set up. However... im changing to a black/grey and mint green set up and just purchased my alt during Christmas.

Quick question about the north facing switches on the Drop Alt, you put a GMK set on yours right? Have you noticed the interference you mentioned in this video?
It’s like any high-end keyboard or in this case entry level cheaper it’s not gonna be in stock they’re not mass produced and the vast majority of people probably won’t be able to get their hands on them but to those who do they will definitely enjoy than 65 when the smoke/frosted Is restocked I will buy one and hopefully I’ll be able to get kiwi switches for it

$95 is a huge game changer for the market out there for people who are planning to get into more custom keyboards.
Hey Brian, a potential idea for a future video, a comparison between all the silent switches you can get your hands on. You could test amount of sound dampened, squishyness, tactile vs linear.
Already in the works my man!
Already bought the gmmk in tkl for factor ... like it so much ... but if it breaks at some point I will consider that novelkey for sure
I literally just pre preordered the alt yesterday..... got me rethinking all my life choices
The RGB around the base of the Drop alone makes it worth it. Keep it, I’m considering Drop Ctrl.
Hey @BadSeedTech, I was wondering what you think the sell out time will be. Do you also think they will restock?
SOOOOOO close to 200k! Congrats and can’t wait!
Oh man, I gotta say, I love your glorious beard, that raspy oh so manly voice, and of course, that great content you pump out of your channel!
Thanks for the reviews, Mr. Badseed Tech!
Man, those upside-down facing RGB LEDs are a deal breaker as I love legend illumination.
Managed to snag one today!!! Have a good 4th of July Brian P
Quick question about the north facing switches on the Drop Alt, you put a GMK set on yours right? Have you noticed the interference you mentioned in this video?
I like the entry edition more because of violet/purple being my favorite color and because of the price.
BadSeed, I’m trying to spend $200-$300 for everything. Idc if it’s a DIY kit or fully assembled.
What boards should I be looking at?
Ah the blueberries I love them so. Great video the translucent purple is clean and hell
I ordered a gk64 kit on drop and think imma cancel it and have to get the aluminum like this is such a great value
It’s like any high-end keyboard or in this case entry level cheaper it’s not gonna be in stock they’re not mass produced and the vast majority of people probably won’t be able to get their hands on them but to those who do they will definitely enjoy than 65 when the smoke/frosted Is restocked I will buy one and hopefully I’ll be able to get kiwi switches for it
Is this only a US offering or worldwide. really want that purple keyboard!!!! to leave the ALT as a test board.
This man predicted the future with the colors at the end 😂
2019 was the year of mice!
2020 is the year of keyboards!!!
So excited, will you do a video comparing this keyboard with the new Epomaker gk68xs?
The purple board is an instant buy for me
I just really want to get my first board and this nk65 entry looks awesome! Hopefully I can get one😵
I want to buy the Ducky one two mini, but i cant find a danish/nordic design. Im from denmark and we have 3 extra keys æøå. If i buy it i think im going to put some hyperx keycaps on. Should i go for white or black keycaps? What do you think, or should i go for the apex pro tkl?
Your videos are straight 🔥 my man
Thank you bro!
use kilmat or dynamat in an aluminum case to stop the pinging sound. but peel the skin off after firmly pressing the rubber down
Loving the keyboard stint on the channel lately ❤️
the purple aluminum showed up today. My god I could work out with this thing as a dumbell. Got some gat clears in it and some purple Akko caps. Its a beast but gonna need to replace the stabs and lube the springs. Its pinging bigitme. But Im really impressed with the feel and the end result should be awesome
The intro goes soooooo hard love the vids keep it up
Wow... You snooze you lose. I was all for the silver aluminium version then I thought, I'll have a look at other reviews with the polycarbonate case. Went back to order... SOLD OUT. Sold out in 7 mins. Kicking myself.
Sold out in 1 second actually, I had a entry level in the cart literally when it came out and was never able to purchase it.
@@sakurakos88 Man that's rough. Quick and the dead with these things...
Sold out in 10 seconds. Been refreshing since 8:59 pt only to get to check out and say it’s sold out in 30 seconds. What the fuck.
@@Purplecrocodiles Well I guess we're not alone in this... I'm sure there's plenty of us out there in the exact same boat. I backed the GK68XS kickstarter so at least I've got that to look forward to. Still though, human nature. You always want things you can't have more.
Now I have to make up my mind over the Entry or the 60% Tofu Acrilyc build I was planning
Novelkeys would most likely be the better option unless you are really picky about stabs
@@twobit7074 why?
@@twobit7074 can't I like mod the stabs to sound better that how they came? And do you think there will be a mayor difference in sound between plate mount over pcb mount?
So hyped for both boards! keep up the great content
The availability comments didn't age well. Novel Keys is sold out just as much, if not more, than everyone else. Sucks because we just want our boards.
I absolutely agree with you! A year later and it’s still impossible to buy one.
the poly one is giving off major gameboy color vibes i llove it
I wanted the polycarbonate version sooo bad but missed the under 1 minute drop. Hopefully they'll have more in stock when they release other colors 🙏
keep up the great work, all i seem to watch these days is you and RandomFrankp. "Shouting out from Australia "
I'm equal parts really excited for this board and bummed that I'm building something else right now
