way back in time,, my older brother and his wife showed for Christmas,, before he walked in,, he handed me an 8 track,, "open this and play it" he told me,, he had bought it just because of the name,, Words on Earnest, LOL,,, loved it every since,, I'm 67 now btw
Thank you for the post. The first time I saw the goose creek live, 1971. I’ve been watching them ever since, cents? One of the best string bands of all time!☮️😊🎶
One of the great unsung jam bands of all time. Since we first had them for the Gainesville (Fla.) Music Festival in May, 1971, their unique music has been part of my life.
I haven't heard this song since at least 1976 and I remember every word! My husband loved Goose Creek Symphony and we played this album regularly...and I just found it again in my mothers' garage. Thank goodness for now my husband is gone but this lives on. Love this more now.
My Grandpa has lived his life by the lyrics to this song. But sadly, he had his life cut short from a fatal car accident. This June 8th would make it 4 years since the good Lord called him home. Every time I listen to this song, I can hear his voice telling me that everything's going to be okay. Fly high Papa, I miss you every day. 😪
Sure brings back so many dam great memories!! One of the greatest concerts I've ever seen was when goose creek played at wise co. fairgrounds. It was an absolute blast of a great time!! I'll never forget at just how great it was, no matter how much I was buzzing it just got better!!
I saw Goose live in Charlotte N.C. outdoors around the time this album was released. "Words of Earnest" that is. Still have this great album. Good to see this video.
OMG ! You guys are STILL AWESOME... 👍👍👍. Perhaps even better..than I remember back in the 70s. Thank you so much for the music.. Thank you so much for the joy .. 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🇨🇦👍👍
First saw and heard the Goose Creek Symphony at the 2nd Atlanta Pop festival on the 4th of July in 1970 with flying Fred on fiddle and Charles Gearhart on vocals and guitar. Second time at Wofford College in Spartanburg S.C. and Again, opening Again for the Marshall Tucker band at the Ruins night club in1972.
Went to a 3 day run with Goose Creek in Chattanooga around 1994 - they recorded a LIVE album - don't remember the name of the venue. Sounded great then - still sounds great today.
@@steverussell4934 Steve - this is George/owner of the MSPH. not sure why i pretended to not know the venue. was hoping someone who was there would respond - and you did. lolololol What a great run we had back then. had some truly incredible nights.
These guys ignited my love for bluegrass, esp. the fiddle! Spent many fun nights watching and dancing at J.D.'s nightclub in Tempe, AZ. Waylon Jennings, Alice Cooper and many others played there as well.
@@georgecraig7019 My late wife worked at J.D.'s back in the day, that place and Mr.Lucky's on the other side of the valley were the hotspots to go to. Paul "the Pearl" Spradlin played there for The Cory Wells blues band. Cory ended up starting a band called Three Dog Night.
@@JuniorFarquar I wasn't there but they opened for the Allman Brothers at the Atlanta Pop Festival. A small crowd, 150,000. Got an encore and a standing ovation. When they weren't headlining they opened for everybody in the S.E. They have a cult following to this day.
It was around that time I saw them. We had rented a small bus w/a driver, not that we were well off but well you know...kids don't do drugs...anyway we had tickets for some band called ZZ Top. Before the first tune was finished some champion of modern science started a paper fire in the aisle and instantaneously the power died. Fire Marshall shut it down.....I think GC was at a venue that generally featured professional wrestling in Dallas and we didn't have a clue.
Charlie: I've been a fan since your stage show included bobbies on unicycles. Been fishin the Pacific Northwest longer than that. Always wished I could return the good kharma you guys instill to those that listen. Heres the best I can do...Get a copy of Polly Rosboroughs book on TYING FUZZY NYMPHS if you cant find one I'll send one. If I knew some of your favorite water Id narrow it down to a few patterns. 10% 0F THE FISHERMAN CATCH 100% OF THE FISH

It is an impossibility to sit and listen to them and remain unmoved. I am typing in rhythm right now. I have to move with the spirit they have.
