Surely not the first time that the FIA has put a "shady person" (a self-confessed sadomasochist with a fondness for whipping German whores into submission) from an "authoritarian culture" (he was the son of Britain's infamous fascist party leader) "in charge"... and he remained in office unchallenged for four terms. Let's call it "business as usual". 😂
It's not a "european thing", supposedly it's "world championship" and the "i" stands for international. But, of course, Europeans only consider it legitimate if they do it. Ironically, standard European business and political practices are notoriously corrupt by US standards, almost everything is run by insiders and what we would call a "good-old-boy" network, so I find it laughable to point your finger at just one guy, the entire organization is like a bunch of guys getting out of a clown car.

@waltervonoer9190, some tracks need F1 to keep going. However with what they are spending these days to host a race, it is longer bring in a huge profit, it Cs also be a lose for them which is why with lost some classic tracks from the calendar. While this not while this is not the fault of the F.I.A it is the fault of Liberty Media and Bernie. If the Teams and Drives walked away and created a new serise it could actually work out better for them as they could get better deals that are more fair. This also nearly happened with the last concorde agreement that the drivers and teams were not happy with. It was only thanks to Berine striking a deal with the teams and the F.I.A that it did not happen.
If F1 tried to go independent then the first thing the FIA could do would be exclude F1 from using FIA sanctioned tracks. Any track that then ran F1 would be excluded from running any FIA or FIA affiliated organisation (ie national organisations like the MSA in the UK) run events. There might be a few state sponsored/owned tracks that could say 'OK we will just run F1', but I guess the majority of circuits would have to think about the balance between running F1 or everything else. I recall this was one of the main reasons that previous F1 breakaway series faltered.
And teams, Aston Martin and McLaren that British/New Zealand team sold fot the Middle East money. Somewhat of a conflict of interest there. F1 teams should just refuse to race next season, what can he do? Sack them? No teams no championship and no money.
Remember when the minister of sports from Saudi Arabia's same investment fund, which he was talking about owning football clubs in the Premier League and how they would continue to try to buy teams and get more ownership of these teams and eventually get the majority of the league itself, I might not have the quotes right, but that was the gist of his reply in the interview about the investment group, so here we have a guy who is trying to take over formula one who may have ties with the same group, it seems this group has spread its interest in sports in general in Europe and England to buy and own as much as possible, it makes one wonder if Ben Sulayem is connected to this group, I wish I could remember when that video was on, so you wouldn't have to go by my wording, but I do remember how excited this minister was when speaking about this,
I think I remeber this as well. Going to go have a look for it. But I agree that basically that was the intention - to own as many soorting clubs as they could.

This cannot work. The FIA has sovereignty over all licenses (drivers, race tracks, technology). The F1 teams could get along without the FIA, but the race tracks owner would immediately lose their license if they held an F1 race and would not even be allowed to hold a local soapbox derby.

Contrary to what most people believe, Formula 1 does not need the FIA, but the FIA sure as hell needs F1. Bernie Ecclestone and his mate Max Mosley raised the FIA to its present eminence. FIA is just another corporation with a grand sounding French name. In recent years it has busied itself with environmental and road safety issues to add some authentication to its pseudo role as a responsible regulator. For decades races such as 24 Heures du Mans got by perfectly well without the FIA running the regulations, only handing over race regulation responsibility when Le Mans racing developed into a global series. This won't be the end of the matter, bad news tends to come in threes.

I do not agree. Fortunately it is not up to F1 to cut off FIA. F1 does things that are most profitable for them and for few top teams. The rules state there are spots for 12 teams, yet they are actively blocking anyone coming in (see Andretti, with even personal vednettas), a race every second weekend (3 per month if we exclude winter and Aug pause) etc. Recent another proposed rules, that customer teams shouldn't be allowed to be in top 5 of the championship, otherwise they need move on to be fully independent team. F1 behaviour is disgusting and MBS is trying to keep them in check. Is he great ? No. But he is not the only villain here (and he is not the biggest one).
At this point MBS is the best argument for F1 cutting ties with the FIA !!!!!

Does MBS have connections to anyone with a bone saw?
Everyone's BLIND to their Ideology and think They! for the Sport!!!
well who didn't see this coming....🤦
For everything Liberty Media has done for the sport, MBS will end up being the unmaking if hes allowed to stay
