Having lived in the UAE and worked in motorsport down there, there were always major questions and stories about how MBS managed to win and retain 14 Middle East Rally championships. He always seemed a bit of a law unto himself: friendly but you were never quite sure about his actions or motives. Money has definitely paved his path to FIA president. Would I be surprised that he had been involved in corrupt activities? Not in the least.
The FIA member states really need to look hard at how MBS got to be 'El Presidente' (and potentially how senior position candidates are identified and vetted) ... and how they can rectify, 'legally' and obvious risk to the organisation's (FIA's) and its ongoing credibility..
