Thankyou, my wife has just handed me 1 of these to fit in her car then took the car to do her shopping, at least i will look smarter than i am when i do fit it after watching this video so an extra brownie point for me, happy new year 🎉😂😂
😂 Happy New Year 🍾
This is me trying to look smarter to my husband who could set it up without looking at instructions 😂

Hahahaha sounds like something us women would do 😂
Thank you so much! Managed to do this all by myself in an hour or so just by using this video. Having a VW golf, the hardest bit was screwing the wire in to the chassis bolt as it was in a really awkward place but eventually got it! Don’t think I would have been able to without your video. Cheers!
@@eils18 Thanks for the great feedback. I'm glad you found the video helpful 🙂
Mine gets delivered tomorrow. I thought that I'd have to install it with wires dangling everywhere, but not any more. Great video and crystal clear explanation. Thanks
Thanks for the great feedback Norman 👍
Just received this model dashcam from my daughter as a Christmas gift. The included instructions are a bit challenging to follow but your video was so clear and helpful. Thank you so much. Excellent!
Thanks Ron. Have a great Christmas 🎄
My mother just got a new car and wants me to setup the new dash cam she got 😮💨😮💨😮💨 will be light work thanks to you Big Ted🙏🏽🙏🏽
I hope the installation goes well 🙂
Literally just bought one, and I know nothing about cars, so your video really saved my ass =)
I'm glad you found it helpful 🙂
Absolute legend, great video, super clear. Tried installing it myself and didnt realise those trim pieces came off so easily! Ive got exposed wires everywhere lol but I'll hide them now!
@@DaddyMorphosis Good luck 👍
Took me a while to get back to it, but got it done! Broke my little plastic jimmying tool but luckily I was near the end. Rear cam install is a bit of a pain as the sticker they provide doesn't stick to the windscreen at all...will get some double sided tape and put it on properly. Then all should be well. Great video thank you!
I purchased 2 of these for my mother and father’s car so cheers for this video very helpful God bless.
Thank you. I'm glad you found the video useful 👍
Really good installation guide :) I have fitted several dash cams and recently a number plate holder with parking sensors - videos such as yours are a big help !
Thanks for the great feedback John 👍
Thank you for making this! I found the instructions a bit clunky so your video really helped me understand the rear view setup. I think I’ll get my dad to wire it up though 🤭
Thanks Kayleigh. I hope your Dad gets a beer or two for doing this 🙂
@@bigtedshome Absolutely! 🍺
Great video especially the hardwire. 👍
Good tip I found was to actually use the screen when choosing where's best to position the rear view camera. So you actually plug power & rear camera in & hold the monitor in your hand.
Position the rear view roughly where you think it needs to be & then adjust it looking at the "live feed" on the monitor.
Then fix in place & put the main screen/camera back into its designated position on the front screen. 👍
Thanks John, that's a good idea 👍
This is an incredibly clear concise video. Awesome job man you got a subscriber
Thanks Kyle. I'm glad you found the video helpful 🙂
Really good video, made me feel a lot more confident to try this myself

Excellent tutorial, will ve doing this expect for the soldering because I'll mess it up 😅
Thanks for the great feedback. I hope the installation goes well 🙂
It's an excellent DashCam. In my van, I have the Orskey CameraCore S680 without the rear camera, as I couldn't be bothered with all the faff of the extra wiring.
Great video, very easy to follow. The only thing that bugs me with the camera, is no quick release mount like the Nextbase in my wife's car, you end up just pulling the whole mount off, as unscrewing it isn't possible due to the angle of the window.
I was sceptical when my son bought this and asked me to fit it for him but like you say, it is very good. A quick release mechanism would be nice but I suppose Orskey are trying to keep the price down in a very competitive market.
Great Vid. Thanks ✊

Great video, very clear, Thankyou
Thanks for the great feedback Simon 🙂
You sir are a rare breed. Thank you 🙏 However, if i hard wire the camera will that affect my warranty?
@Djk3DD I don't see why it should. Amazon don't ask any questions beyond 'why are you returning this item?', and there is no way they could tell how it was used anyway. One issue to be aware of if you hard it, is that some insurers would count this as a vehicle modification, and you would be expected to declare it
Great video really helpful thanks!
Thanks for the great feedback 🙂
Another way to get around using up the cigarette lighter (can we even say that now?) is to get a multipoint bank where you can plug multiple appliances in. 👍
That would work but hard wiring is much neater
Thank you so much!
Thanks, I'm glad you found the video helpful 🙂
I’m looking to buy one of these to upgrade my current dash cam
@@redladybug9180 My son has been happy with the one I fitted for him. This dashcam is currently on special offer here: amzn.to/3ADGWmn
@@bigtedshome thank you it looks great but I wanted one that connects to my phone which this doesn’t
Nice one bud thx.
Thanks 🙂
Great video but you might want to update the link to the Dash Cam USB Hardware kit as the amazon item is a USB type C. There is no converter in the pack they send to convert that cable to the required 'Mini USB' cable that the camera takes. The cable is incorrect but thanks for the video which was informative and well explained.
That was so well explained, but could you still come and do mine please ha ha
😂 thanks Kevin
Thank you for the video. I got a gift of an S680 for Christmas to go into my brand new electric car (replacing a 16 year old, slowly dying, petrol model.) Picked up my car a couple of weeks ago and I’m finally looking to install the dash cam. The enclosed instructions are not the easiest to follow and I was beginning to despair that I’d be able to do it. I wish companies like this would maybe do colour photos showing step by step directions, or a link to a TH-cam video showing what to do. You have filled that gap. My only question is whether the automatic switching on function will still work in an electric car. Will the dash cam still sense that the car is on? Thanks again.
I've not fitted a dash cam to an electric car but I would expect that the wiring would be similar. Good luck 🙂
Could you not just buy a dual adapter for the cigarette lighter. Then avoiding hardwire ?
Yes, you could use a dual adapter for the cigarette lighter but it would be quite bulky. Hardwiring is not that difficult and is much neater.
Super Ted😅
@@rablee 😂
Hi, great video, if i buy the same cameras as you used would i need the usb 3 or the mini usb ? regards Kevin just watch again and checked all and now ordered cheers ted
The Orskey dashcam that I installed in this video definitely had a mini USB port. I hope your installation goes well 🙂
Hiya. Im using the cigarette lighter for now... Does the dash cam switch of with this feature or not
Great video, I already have a Bluetooth speaker using the cigarette lighter, so would you advise hardwiring it, rather than just connecting USB to the spare port that I have?
Yes, I would hardwire it. It's not a difficult job, it's a lot neater and it leaves your spare port free.
Wanted to install this on my Skoda Octavia 2016 - any tips?
@@HaqAhmed The procedure is similar for most cars. Make sure that you know where the fusebox is and search online for a fusebox diagram. Good luck 👍
@Big Ted great video, thanks. Question for you - how is the footage from the rear cam ? Mine is good in the morning, but once the light dims , it is useless. I wonder if the LEDs are working at all
Thanks for the great feedback. I fitted this dashcam in my son's car so will have to check. To be honest, I only checked the daylight video when I fitted it.
Hey man I bought the same kit and camera but mine I thought had a sticker with “tips” on it but they are actually embedded on the screen. You didn’t have a problem with this
No, I think there was a protective sticker on the screen but that was all
Very well filmed, and explained. I've got a different make camera but very similar. It also has the red wire for the rear camera. Could this red wire be for something else,or for the reversing mode as you showed.
Most of these low cost dash cams are very similar so I would expect that the red wire to the rear view camera should be connected to the reversing light feed. Your user manual should confirm this.
Great video. Does the dashcam automatically start recording when you turn on the ignition?
Thanks Simon. Yes, it does.
@@bigtedshome brilliant thanks for such a quick reply. Much appreciated
Nice video, what splitter kit did you use buddy?
Thanks Ernie. There are amazon links for the hardwire kit in the video description. The power cable for the rear view camera was supplied with the dash cam and fits into the top of the dash cam as shown in the video. I hope this helps 🙂
So the hard wire kit uses a Mini USB not Micro or C?
Yes, this dashcam has a Mini USB port. Full specification is here: Deal: ORSKEY Dash Cam for Cars Front and Rear and SD Card Included 1080P Full HD In Car Camera Dual Lens Dashcam for Cars 170 Wide Angle Sony Sensor with Loop Recording and G-sensor amzn.eu/d/c2Uux4m
So if I don't do the red wire bit on the rear camera, it'll record but it won't act as a reversing camera just a rear dash cam?
Yes, that's correct
@@bigtedshome cool, I don't want to fuse my car (again) if I don't have to 🤣
@@DollopussD 😂
Maybe a daft question but about to install in next couple of days, where did you put all the excess wiring from hard wiring it in? (Glove box or hidden behind it etc) thanks :)
I pushed it through into the space behind the glove compartment. There wasn't that much extra and there's nothing in there that will damage it.
@@bigtedshome thanks very much. I think the one I’ve got is slightly different and may have a bit more excess but will give it a go. Great video much appreciated 👍🏼
@@sietaylor84 Thanks. Good luck with the installation 🙂
I connected mine but the reverse screen is not showing up on the dashcam. I connect to the reverse lights so the led lights on the reverse cam does come up when I put it in reverse but no reverse picture on the dash cam. Any insights?
I'm sorry but I haven't seen this before. Orskey customer support might be able to help www.orskey.com/pages/contact
I have one, does it not come with the micro sd card? That’s unfortunate. Where do I get the best one for it?
The one I installed came with a micro sd card
Thanks for the video. I am a new driver and was looking for dash cam in amazon and found Orskey budget level camera. can you please tell me, how the video quality during the rain and night time vision? is it support parking sensor? thanks.
I fitted the Orskey dash cam in my son's car and to be honest, haven't really looked at the night time image quality. Day time video was pretty good when I checked it after fitting and others seem happy with the dash cam. I'm currently on vacation in the Canary Islands so can't check for you either at the moment.
If you want parking sensors, these are cheap and fairly easy to fit. This video shows how I did it th-cam.com/video/C-xQ-yOFXNc/w-d-xo.html
@@bigtedshome , thank you very much for the quick response and the suggestion for parking sensors. Enjoy the vacation.
I was thinking of getting one of these do you know if rear camera is waterproof as my van has no rear window so would need to be fitted on exterior
The manufacturer claims that the rear camera is waterproof in the product description amzn.to/3RpS2QB
Do you have to connect the cigratte lighter connect for to be fitted correctly?
My mercredez don’t have one
You don't need to use the cigarette lighter socket if you hardwire it
can the camera record rear without the red cable connection? I just want to use it to record the rear but not to use it as a reversing camera
Yes, it should do
It does. 👍
so can i use it if i charge it in my home before recording so i don't have to wire it to my cigarette lighter ?
Good question. I've not tried it but I think the battery is only there to power the parking mode and record briefly if it senses an impact. I don't think you will be able to run the dashcam for long on the battery alone. I could be wrong though 🙂
Hi, for a 24/7 on dashcam, would i need the soldering portion? I would like on incsse someone damages the car whilst parked up.
No, the soldering is for the reversing function. You just need to hardwire the dashcam for the motion sensors to be active 24/7
@@bigtedshome thank you so much 👍👍👍
Hello when i plug the cable for the rear cam the dash cam goes off, any ideas
That's a strange one. Is the front dash cam still recording (but you don't see it on the screen) or does it stop working completely?
Is it possible to connect to wiffi and watch live.
Sorry, I don't know. I don't have this dashcam, I just fitted it on another car.
Are you able to remove it to charge it
You don't need to. The cable from the fuse board or 12V power supply charges it as you drive.
👍👍👍.Thank you
Thanks Pete 🙂
Thanks for the video. Do both cameras stay on when parked using the 12V charger?
No, the 12V charger turns on/off with the ignition.
@@bigtedshome Thanks for confirming. Am I right in saying as long as the camera battery is charged the motion sensor function will work?
I just asked this question. Mine seems to be staying on 😮 with the 12v camera
For the hardwire kit, what connection is it if not a USB Type C?
The one I installed had a USB mini port
Thank you!!
Will the reverse camera still record without the cable.going to the light, i already have a reverse camera, i just want it to record.
Yes, the rear camera should still record if you don't connect it to the reversing bulb supply.
@@bigtedshome Thanks very much for your reply. Appreciate the help.
How do you view the rear camera please? I can view the front camera on the dash cam but stuck to view the rear. Thanks.
On the one I fitted, the rear view camera was displayed in the top corner of the screen. Sorry but I can't check at the moment as I'm in Spain but if you want to see if the rear camera is working, take the sim card out and look at the video clips on a laptop. I think the rear view clips are stored in a different folder to the front view files.
@@bigtedshome thanks a lot..
Thanks for the video ... I have an issue with the rear view camera. The ferrite clips I have attached to the cable for the rear / Front camera ( on both ends ) makes the radio loose all signal. Front camera also does this 😮 Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Interesting problem! Have you tried repositioning the ferrite clips?
@@bigtedshome yes I have tried as close to the camera ( head unit ) & close to rear cam and along the cable at various locations. And still the same result. I hard wired it into the fuse box ( cigarette lighter fuse port )
A mechanic friend said it could be the fuse switch not drawing enough power to power all three items ( radio, main dash cam and rear camera ) regardless or ferrite clips or there locations. BAFFLED !! car is a E45 BMW series 2 active tourer.
@billbirkbeck4113 Googling 'BMW E45 series 2 radio interference' brings up loads of forum posts about the radio reception being affected by the rear screen heater as the antenna is in the rear screen. Does the radio work if the rear camera is disconnected?
Another suggestion could be to try using a different earthing point for the camera.
You might find this link useful: www.babybmw.net/threads/rear-dash-cam-position.129505/
Once I’ve connected the dash cap suction to the window, how would I then charge the dash cam again
It charges through the cable that runs to the fuse board (or to the cigarette lighter if you're not hard wiring it).
@@bigtedshome ohhh okay thank you that makes sense
Instead of hardwiring can i use the usb to connect to a usb port i have spare ? Same results ? Also is there risk of drai ing car battery hardwiring ?
You should be OK using your spare USB port as a power supply if it switches on/off with the ignition (most do). There's no risk of draining the battery if you hard wire the camera to a switched fuse such as the 12V cigarette lighter. This link explains the difference between switched and constant fuses www.thedashcamstore.com/how-to-identify-constant-and-switched-fuses/
Hi again, quick question as my knowledge is poor and you may know an answer (possibly) :)
Yesterday I installed the camera hardwired with a kit with the two fuses into the connector and put into the original cigarette lighter fuse slot. As soon as the ignition is on the dashcam starts as expected and all is good…. However the cigarette lighter no longer works. If I put the cig lighter fuse on its own in then it works. If I put it into one position in the connector (with the two slots) then the cigarette lighter works but the dashcam doesn’t and vice versa. Am I missing something or is the connector possibly faulty etc any ideas :) ? Thanks in advance.
It sounds like the connector is faulty. You should be able to use both.
@@bigtedshome thanks, I’ll get on to Amazon and try another one. Its gone into a 2015 Vauxhall Corsa so from what I can see it should be good to use the cigarette fuse, clearly has power etc as it works but only with one of the fuses at a time
@sietaylor84 No problem. Amazon are very good with returns so you shouldn't have a problem.
Fingers crossed,. Thanks for the speedy response, hopefully when the new connector comes it all works… if not I’ve clearly somehow done something wrong ha!
DO i have to separately order a micro SD card?
There was a micro SD card included with the dash cam we bought
Soldering? goodbye warranty...
Can u turn off switching on tune.
Ta ta
Sorry but I don't know as I don't have this dashcam in my own car (I installed it for someone else). You could try asking on amazon.
Hi mate, do you know if the dash cam is able to record 24 hour and how to wire it if so ?
I don't think it does record 24 hrs. It will come on and record if it senses a shock when parked but as far as I'm aware, you would need a constant power supply for it to record 24 hr/day and this would drain the battery if the engine isn't running.
No compréis esa m...!Comprad una con conectividad al móvil(with wifi)
This video made for engineers mate not drivers.
Thanks for the feedback. I did try to make it as accessible as possible. You can always use the 12V power supply (cigarette lighter) if you don't want to hardwire your dashcam.
The information cant really be dumbed down anymore in fairness...
your shaking hands indicate lack of calcium. perhaps you could take at least one 500mg tablet daily and your hand stability should improve in two weeks. fingers crossed.
Thanks for the advice 🙂
