- At Blizzcon 2023, the next seasonal server for Classic WoW was announced - The Season of Discovery, this long awaited second season installation will feature extensive class changes via a rune engraving system, delayed level caps, new content, items and tons more.
If you were hoping so Classic+ - this is basically testing it in a risk free way through seasonal servers. Today I cover what to expect from the season, as well as everything we have found out through Blizzcon and follow up interviews over the weekend.
There were a few other classic related bits of news which I decided to cover at the end. Will do more info on Cata as of when its known.

My biggest concern, outside of the skill/class balancing, is the server balancing because I do not want mega alliance and horde servers that will render the open world pvp events one sided.
That's the most likely major problem with SoD, and I'd be willing to wager that Horde will be shit on by and large.
Yup. That was the biggest issue with PvP servers. I just pray they balance factions.
It's antithetical to the game and to PvP servers
They massively screwed this up badly in classic, like they couldnt have done a worse job. Will see what they do, ill play horde as I've always done
Well that's what you're getting.
If the buffed defias pillagers don’t 1 shot + auto delete your character I don’t want it
They'll be harder this time around. Player buffs don't come without NPC buffs... that's mentioned during the reveal.
Bring it .
The prospect of low level caps at 25/40/50 sound way more fun to me than raiding at 60 in phase 4 once we all go back to the generic gearing.
You can't convince me this guy doesn't have insider information from Blizzard lol. Well done Willie!
He kinda does, his work is on the official Warcraft channel
He didn't a year ago though..
What makes you say this?
Why tho?
He's summarizing info from Blizzcon which took place days ago. You have a very bizarre concept of "insider information".
Seeing diremaul being a raid will be great as it was ment to be a raid back in vanilla, then changed to 3 instances
It was never meant to be a raid.
was discussed with their alpha talk during the nostalrious with older devs interviews that it was , due to timing it was made into 3 instances. @@TheRockemsockm
The classic team seems so happy at blizzcon. They’re kind of the underdogs and possibly the only blizzard team that is much more universally loved by the playerbase. I love that moustached man he reminds me of a steampunk barber for some reason lol i like his style. Actually everyone was really great. Seems like a pretty fun team to be on.
they just cant admit that we want regular classic wow... lol its cuz none of them designed that game
my thoughts exactly
play era..@@jms5c8
This is retail classic. Just what we need the people who told us we didn't want classic coming up with ways to improve classic.
@@jms5c8 we already did vanilla 100 times, its time for change.
"No plans for Wrath era servers, I'm surprised." I'm not, and I'm surprised that you are surprised.
Since they didn't preserve TBC servers, it is obvious that Blizzard's plan for Classic servers will always be: Classic, Hardcore, Seasonal and whatever is the next old expansion in the rotation in this case Cata. They may implement things like TBC and Wrath as part of the seasonal server system which is honestly our best hope of those expansions not being gone forever.
I’m surprised because I know a lot of people would play WotLK on private servers, but yeah like you said, they didn’t preserve TBC, why would they preserve Wrath.
It'll be back in the future. This is very Disney vault, creating artificial demand when your catalogue is large enough
I never saw a point in preserving tbc servers, but i very much want era wrath servers. They'd have to adjust the loot ilvls and health+damage on ulduar togc and icc loot+tiers to make it viable, but I'd happily stay on wrath era for a year or so as opposed to cata, i HATED cata, i quit the game until classics launch halfway through cata. I aint playing it, i hope SoD keeps me entertained.
@@Vihara2You ever considered that your preferences might be different from others'?
Why do you guys still play wow? It was never like... Good? Its always been like this. Why put up with it 20 years later?
i think there's potentially lots of content with a level 25 max. people will be working out things they can do in higher level zones, maybe larger groups attacking harder quests for certain level 25 bis items. i was thinking about how twinks go after the stv arena trinket, that sort of thing
Not much good quest twink gear at 25, more at 29 lvl
There's next to no content at 25 and there's negative incentive to make a lot of content for 25 because the design space is limited at level 25 and they've already confirmed they're going to increase the level cap and they're absolutely dogshit at scaling raids up (which would require scaling gear up to make worth doing).
You people are setting yourselves up for massive amounts of disappointment with SoD. They fucked up classic in a multitude of ways in vanilla and then fucked the corpse in TBC yet you idiots think they're going to somehow have thought out enough to ensure there's a lot of content at lower levels?
You people are the reason why WoW has been allowed to deteriorate for over a decade. No standards or self-respect and on a lethal dose of copium.
@@sergtrufanov5565 not actual level 29 bracket twinks, but like a newer type of meta similar to twinking.
Xp off when?
This is a pretty common thing with xp cap'd servers in the past, weird gear metas, BiS lists that include level 40 quests. Classic beta locked at 30 was ALOT of fun imo. Had a small raid group together to get our whirlwind axes. Pushing into higher level zones for a quest reward you shouldn't get for 10 levels, is a unique and fun experience. Keep in mind any quest line you do ahead of time while at level cap is one less quest chain you'll be able to do once the new level cap is released.
man alliance ruling in wpvp was not the experience i remember lol in classic i thought all but a select few alliance dominated servers got dominated by horde
Call me a conspiracy theorist but I actually partially think that the reason they decided to do this level banding was because the team started working on classic+ relatively recently. Sentiment around classic+ has grown a ton in only the last few months. To avoid a disappointing blizzcon they decided to do it this way so that they can drip feed content. It’s pretty smart either way.
I actually agree with you. I think this is a glorified beta test for a permanent plus. If that’s the case Blizzard has some of their old passion under the microsoft umbrella as opposed to activision. If this is the case. I’m happy.
I mean the viewership for classic beta was INSANE people were so hyped for classic and people were able to do stuff in the beta with that level limit at the same time that they couldn't do else wise so it made for a unique experience
@@theduncanthetankvery true, seems Microsoft is sort of staying true to letting blizzard be it’s own entity as opposed to Activision making blizzard a cash cow at the expense of their reputation and game wuality but we shall see
I think they couldn't get funding for a full on classic+ expansion and needed more engagement metrics in order for the higherups to greenlight an actual expac. There's no definitive proof aside from forum posts that people will put their "money" where their mouths are when it comes to engaging with new vanilla content. This gives them something to point to.
What it is is y’all are content junkies. Cheating your way through with guides and add ons. This is the only way to keep you fiends on your toes and keep fresh(ish) content. I think they did it in hopes people wouldn’t ruin it for themselves and try to “discover” things rather than railroad themselves. Game guides and addons have to be the lamest most robo-sheep way to play.
Not a classic player nor have I been subbed to wow for a year now, but this Season of Discovery peaked my interest. Definitely going to sub and play it with friends.
The idea of seasons is honestly perfect.... people get to have their persistent (eternal) characters, so there's loads to do when new expansions and patches drop, but there's also seasons, offering people an incentive to play at the same time, creating a consistent community, and of course, a reason to keep playing the game pretty much year-round.
These big changes are great, but I would like to see some small changes in the world as well. Adding guards to Alliance transports for one. Also Horde side quests are not as story rich, since they were done last, in a hurry, so that's something that could be fixed. Maybe add some life into empty places like park district in SW or Azshara so people have some reason to go there. Or what if Molten Core had more time in the oven? Though I guess I'm getting away from "small" changes.
Technically, horde quests weren't done last per say, it's just that the first 3 alliance zones (Elwynn, Westfall, & Duskwood) were worked on for far too long (6-8 months). All other alliance and horde zones were toned down so that they could meet their launch date commitments.
Just play on turtlewow instead. Blizzard are gonna fuck this up anyway
@@user-fr1ys2wn4t Problem with turtlewow is it feels shit to play, like the difference between playing classic and playing turtle wow is insane, i played it to 60 once and i did not want to raid whatsoever because it just felt so bad
@@RiverStiix and twow is fun but trying to find dungeons below 60 is nearly impossible because Twow is so casual, most people don't know how to do dungeons properly, nobody wants to tank and nobody wants to heal xD
I agree! Small changes like adding crews to ships, populating areas like Nethergarde Keep with more vendor NPCs (and eventually big things like new quests), and adding a few more wandering merchants would be fantastic.
Vanilla pvp is a huge reason why people loved vanilla. STV, Tauren mill, etc.. best mmo memories.
Looks like there's hope for Azshara a three lane warcraft 3 style pvp area after all
Content is hype - But too many changes ... they whole new Rune engraving ability system is way to much .... all we wanted was a little rebalance to make non viable spec viable ... now its allmost just gonna be retail in classic cover ...
i really think that this can be the best wow we will ever have. i started playing in mop and played classic and hardcore on release but this has me pumped. lvl 25 max so its easy to lvl up alts while still being fresh enough for even the most impatient people to raid
As long as it's not retail 0.5 with everyone being the main character with godlike powers oneshotting everything, it could be really fun cuz it's the first time in forever for vanilla wow where the meta could be redefined with the combination of new class content + itemization for each phase.
It 100% is Retail Classic, 90% of the abilities come from future expansions ie. Retail. I'm seriously disappointed with his take, I never realized WillE had the best copium on the market.
I want to believe if this goes over well, they'll make SoD a true classic plus in the future
already is a true classic plus, keep whining

I said it before TBC classic came out, blizzard need to go the jagex route and give us Classic+. New content in the theme of classic, not just different spells and changing meta but a whole new timeline for azeroth. Its a step in the right direction and ill be coming back to give it ago and i hope alot of people do too. Jagex releasing old school runescape saved them from the brink, osrs is one of the best games going just now, it needs to happen, give us Classic+
This. When I saw the headline, it's what i thought they were doing.
With Chris Metzen back now, I think this is absolutely in the works (a new timeline for Azeroth).
This is going to be super fun, I'm excited for the battles that the level locks bring. I hope people don't cry too much about being level 25 for 2 months or w/e lmao.
They stated it will only be a few weeks I thought? Either way, if it were 2 months it'd allow me to try every class without the daunting task of max leveling all of them to avoid being 'left behind'
No I actually really like what they're doing with the leveling experience, it's nice breaking it down in to chunks, gives a lot of casuals like me that chance to finally reach end game, I think this kind of leveling would actually be really cool in a none seasonal server, either way I'm hyped for this.
I want xp off option lol
Excuse me I'm new to Classic WoW! What is this new CAP leveling you are talking about would you be kind to explain it to me how it works in detail?? Thanks@@MichaelSwart-xv3il
So pumped for this . After so many years of blizzard disappointing us it finally feels like they may be listening
You are falling for the usual Blizzard scheme. Listen to players > ignore players feedback for next 2-3 patches > play the "we hear you" card and people are like "Blizzard listens and changed!" > bring one good patch > start ignoring players again...
@@Cannibal_Holocaust That doesn't make a difference. Else there wouldn't be some shady shit like 3 days early access for the next expansion. Nothing will change. The higher ups at Blizzard will still get their big shares and continue to get rich if people spend a lot of money.
And devs will also not be replaced so nothing in this regard will change either.
This is not classic+, this is a very temporary seasonal server, with MoP abilities and timegated leveling. The changes are purely for people who like shit like parsing, and streamers.
I was hoping for something more in the direction certain private servers like turtle WoW are taking it, but with blizzards budget. I cant be the only one.
I have only played on TBC “fun servers” before going straight to Legion on retail so I never had that nostalgia for classic, but this brings me exactly that type of nostalgia I would get on such servers I started playing WoW on at the beginning. I can’t wait! 😁
Pretty sure I'm going to go Alliance this time but I'm having a real hard time deciding between Warlock and Mage to main. Either way I'm super excited for this!
I feel you 😄
Ewwwwww alliance
I'm surprised people wanted Cataclysm. It killed the retail game pretty quickly. I never saw so many people leave all at once. Excited for the future Hardcore servers. It breathed new life into Wow Classic for me.
I put Wrath down in May, and SoD is trying its hardest to get my 15 bucks a month again...
Shame they are not doing fresh Cata servers. I think the magic of a fresh server on top of the post Cata world could make an interesting experience.

@@VegetoStevieD Robbing them blind mostly refers to them taking away Wrath entirely. Blizzard stick to their lizzard activision ways of taking away the game people had easy access to, prior with original Warcraft 3 and Overwatch 1.
I think it is most reasonable to calculate the cost of Respec Talent according to the number of points.
For example, the cost of the first reset is 10 silver/1 point. At level 20 you have 10 points so the first reset at level 20 costs 1g. At level 25, there are 15 points that cost 1.5g.
The second reset cost is 20 silver per point, the second reset at level 20 consumes 2g, at level 25 you consume 3g.
The cost of the 3rd reset is 30 silver/1 point, the 3rd reset at level 20 consumes 3g, at level 25 you consume 4.5g.
...
and limited to a maximum of 1g per point. Then at level 25, the maximum you only spend is 15g for one reset, at level 40 the maximum is 30g for one reset and at level 60 the maximum is still 50g for one reset... because at level 60 the 50g is reasonable but I hope I don't have to spend 50g at level 25 just because my friends need me to switch from dps to tank or healer.
This gives me 0 hope for a good Classic plus eventually. These things aren’t really in keeping with the Classic wow philosophy.
Can't see C+ in the spirit of vanilla ever being released but looking at the reception it sounds like loads of people, especially one's who didn't find Classic interesting logging in on the 30th. Unfortunately it's when Blizzard started catering the game to people who didn't want to play it, the same time I lost interest
My one thought on the reuse of later expansion spells. Yes could be hard to balance, but it will be easier to balance than an entirely new ability. They have experience of what worked and didn’t work.
I'm excited to just try it out! Idc what everyone else thinks about it beforehand, we need to see if it is good. I think even if it won't be good I will still have fun for it for a time. Can't wait to try out mage and hunter! I want to heal as a mage lol. I just think that the new content for the first phase for being lv 25 looks really awesome
The WoW Private Server scene of the last 10 years kinda saved WoW as a whole if you think about it.
Super Hyped for this new Season! I have not played Classic because there was not anything that i have not done a bilion years ago, but now with this? I am super into it!

Looks like Blizzard is finally catching up to Ascension WoW private server, which is much better than any version of Blizzard's servers.
when you're changing this many variables at once it will be difficult to determine which ones are working and which ones aren't
They literally aren't adding many unknown variables at all. The spells are from tbc and wrath. The only new stuff is being able to tank as a rogue and heal as a mage, etc.

Woah, weird that this entire mode of classic WoW didn't get any attention because it's the first I'm hearing about it. Heard about retail expansions and Cata coming, but this by far is way more interesting to me. I'm almost inclined to sub for a month just to try it out. . .
With every passing second till the 30th I'm getting more hyped. So exciting to delv into a new pve meta and lord knows the PvP is gonna be WILD!! still have my concerns but big W from blizz
Blizzard, if you’re watching, for the love of fuck, please keep faction balance in check. PLEASE!
I am so goddamn stoked for this. Nearly as much as I was for Classic’s release in 2019. Way more than I was for Wrath Classic, and Wrath was the golden years for me back in the day.
honestly, balancing the factions would make or break the game. Most people that love this cant wait to try out runes for pvp.
imagine if they put ashbringer in fishing
Make ashbringer fishing in plaguelands a 1 time event per server where it’s a .1% chance from a pool in plaguelands but as soon as the first 10 people get it nobody else can get it. As soon as word gets out about it the feature will turn off and nobody will be the wiser.
I think its worth noting that with the introduction of druid windfury, horde kind of does have the freed up wind totem slot for salv, it's not as good since you have to drag the buff along, but horde doesn't necessarily need salv with the druid class change. Still no kings/bubble/fear ward equivalent that I'm aware of though, which is fine if they want to keep factions with unique tools, but idk what alliance is missing from horse's toolkit at this point, where as vice versa horde is missing anything besides racials to keep them unique
Im stoked destro locks might actually be viable in classic now that choas bolt is available.

I think SOD is gonna be an absolute blast. There *_absolutely WILL BE_* some overpowered builds. To that end, we need to keep in mind that this is an experiment for *_both the players AND the devs._*
And I think its a fantastic approach. Instead of just buffing a few specific Talent Trees (eg making end-game Paladins viable at something other than healing,) it seems like they wanna go all-out.
Theyll really only have one chance at the so-called *_Classic+_* and if they fuck it up thats it.
18:55 There were more Cata changes announced, such as the ability to use the updated character models from WoD onwards. It was in one of the interviews, but you might have missed it.
That's not what was said exactly.
"Warlords brought upgraded player models, is that going to happen in classic? Will there be a graphics toggle?
That toggle existed in Warlords and that gave designers nightmares. Is that what people want? We have to work with other teams and art directors from mainline wow to see what works. For instance, the new incubus model got brought to Classic and downgraded visually to make sure it fits in the context of everything else. That's not to say we won't..."
So they didn't like the toggle, but a graphical update isn't out of the question is what they're saying.
I would not play classic with updated graphics. The classic graphics are a core part of the game's charm.
I'm one of those classic players who has stuck with the current progressed realms the whole time (TBC and then Wrath), but SoD has me very interested and intrigued
the progressive level cap is honestly genius, much less of a time commitment to get to the current cap and participate in the new raids, for any phase!
i dont have time for wow, but i swore to come back for classic + if it ever happens, didnt think it would come so early..... and here they are
the good thing about 25 is we can play a bit and not have to grind everyday to 60. I'm lookin to get 25, play around with the new skills a bit and do that 10 man raid, try out the ashenvale pvp and then take a break and wait till they raise the cap to 40. I kinda like it this way

With a 3 day lockout on the BFD raid (like ZG) that's a lot of possible resets, and plenty of time to get up a character or two, mess around, and do a few raids without much trouble or fear on missing out on limited attempts to get loot from the raid. Re: faction balance, if they could find a way to adjust queue times at a per faction level per server rather than just per server it'd really help. For example, if a server is currently over loaded with one faction, the queue for the opposing would be shorter (or instant).
I'm not sure it'd stop the total snowballing of factions, but I think it'd help.
One problem I've always had with WoW when selecting a class is the idea of "why would I ever play a class that can only do 1 thing (dps), when I can pick one that does 2 or 3 things?" which is especially important when you don't have all day to play WoW and can only really dedicate time to 1 character, which is something a lot of WoW players have to deal with these days because we aren't teenagers anymore and have a job and/or family.
so I'm glad to see all of the classes that only do 1 thing are getting an extra option via the runes, hopefully it'll help balance out the spread of roles so dungeon groups can form more smoothly.
I hope down the road they take inspiration from what ideas do/don't work in all these seasonal versions of WoW, and create a more permanent, non seasonal, version with all the most popular ideas implemented.
Well, even DPS has utility. Hunters bring traps, rogues being cc and lockpicking, mages bring the clutch, and warriors are op. Lol
Or learn from your mistakes and quit wow. I mean like. I just don't get it. Some of you people had wow stick its fingers in deep and even 20 years later you still come back for more 3PM penis flattening.

for the SM raid, it would be cool if they moved the raid portal backward to the very first door of the monastery before the staircase, making that first room with the 4 dungeon portals the first room of the raid, and it combined all 4 dungeons together.
I want classic raids back, havent fully cleared AQ40 or NAXX40 and honestly have todo this atleast once in my life.
Same here bro, I made it to Twin Emps, but they steam rolled my unprepared guild, then the guild broke up lmao. I have always wanted to clear C'Thun and Vanilla Naxx 40, and maybe eventually hit Rank 13 (I don't care so much about 14 as a Hunter main)
you can do this on whitemane server right now what do you mean?
Then get on Classic? I'm in a guild progressing through Naxx40 right now.
You have ERA servers packed with people raiding AQ40 and Naxx...
For me I mean on a fresh server progressing into it.
My biggest hope is that with the new additions to tanking that the classes are getting, more then just Warriors will be viable endgame, I have my doubts that they will be beaten for a multidude of reasons but if the others will be viable just enough that having more dedicated Warrior tanks is no longer a must like it was in classic or even way back in the 2000's. This would be huge for guilds as you don't have to go looking or poaching or have members reroll to them just to get enough so you can raid
Edit: not to mention it be healthier for the spreading of loot in raids as you don't have to have 4 of the main tanks be Warriors and get first dibs on the loot while the melee (and Hunters in some cases) DPS have to wait several weeks to start getting something, think about it, if Warlocks, Shamans, Rogues, Paladins and Druids are viable tanks up to even Naxx it means loot can be spread more evenly among the raid as 1: you don't have to focus soley on one class that is the crux of the raid and 2: because of RNG every raid member can make use of something and not hope that one particular types of items drop consectively each week.
Also to mention, with druids getting a passive windfury that is group wide, this fixes two issues, the first being that this helps them in that you now a valid reason to bring Feral druids into the raid other then as a meme or as a emergency tank and the second is faction imbalance. Both Paladins and Shamans have their own Blessing/Totem that reduces threat, (Blessing of Salvation for palas and Tranquil Air Totem for shamies) the problem was though that Alliance had no access to Windfury what so ever while Horde did but you couldn't have Tranquil air or Windfury at the same time so you had to choose (people went Windfury anyway), now with Druids providing it Alliance can get their extra swings and Shamans are no longer pigeon held into keeping Windfury totem up
Wille's ability to predict the future over and over is always good to see
It wasn't a guess lol they just copied basically what you wanted + Ascension. 😂
Most people who play a lot of Ascension disagree. The abilities being on gear is a fundamental similarity. But you have 17 slots on Ascension. You have 3 at lvl 25 to start.
@@seanheisey8645 They didn't play vanilla ascencion. Its the same exact thing.
Season of discovery is a place where developers will find what people like and what they dont like. They will allow people to try everything and I mean everything. Things that stick will be put into a real + next year or later and things that don't will be taken out.
damn if it's like that RIP classic wow
Well, this sounds like Ascension: Classless WoW.
You got your trees, you got your runes on your equipment
What I'd like to know is .. did they help with mana problems, notably on Boomkins? Having more Boomie spells is great, but if they didn't help with OOM, then .. still be a rough spec to use.
Can make Wrath free to cast at least.
iirc wrath is a free cast and replenishes a small amount of mana?

It's pretty cool its coming out on Nov 30th, that's my grandmas birthday. She died a few year ago....on my birthday.
Thanks Wille im sad now and this is your fault.
They really did an amazing job keeping this under wraps though, this is a huge amount of developer work for the much smaller classic team. They have likely been working on this for a year plus.
And since the biggest complaint was "Classic wasnt the same as vanilla" they managed to hide all the info from the player base and we do actually get to experience it for the first time again.
sorry for your loss mate grandmas are the best ❤ iam happy that my
grandma is still alive god bless
Jesus Christ dude you didn’t only call it right on the money, you did it a full year before lmao, that’s insane
We as a community have one chance, ONE. CHANCE. to make sure we keep this server pure of RMT. I really hope we can find a way to avoid falling into the same old problems, “gold buying, bots, blah blah blah”
This is a good joke 10/10 IGN
The p2w nerds cannot be stopped
I think they should keep to the classic flavour more. Just extra classic content and slight class changes. The raid seems very retailesk, like a Halloween dungeon.
What do you mean? BFD is hardly changed lol
What does classic flavor mean to you? Do you mean old school high fantasy rules? Or?
Classic plus, atlest the idea, is older then Hardcore, and they did get theyr servers first. its about time.! I hope they where prepearing for this a few years.
This system is quite literally stolen from Ascension WoW. Worldforged REs are changes to abilities/talents or all new abilities found in the open world through quests, randomly placed mini-events, mobs, and dungeon drops as well. Sure would be cool if they would get acknowledged for it...
Didn’t they steal Blizzards intellectual property? I’m not sure how put out they should feel.
I'm all for this. Cataclysm was the last expansion I played that turned this game into shit. New content and it still feels like vanilla wow? That's awesome.
SOD is going to be amazing! Once people let go of the idea that endgame content has to consist of tightly tuned raids that require minmaxed players, SOD can become a canvas to for players to finally do whatever they want without being punished for it.
inb4 gearscore & runescore
@insu_na Meta will consist of all Warlock tanks, all Mage healers and all Warlock and Mage dps.
@@ryanguest5969 Finally my dream comes true of a full raid of only gnomes with pink pigtails
my man Willie going big right off the bat! Great job predicting the future, man! you are awesome!
Are you a writer for the simpsons in your free time?
personally im glad they are doing a lvl cap/bracket. one of the things that puts me off from playing alts is i always feel like there is something i should be doing/farming on my main and in classic it takes a long time to hit lvl 60. having a lvl cap will allow me to lvl multiple toons every bracket without feeling like im falling behind on my main. also dont have to settle on a main right out the gate i can feel what is fun as the server unlocks and pick a main later
I’d appreciate if Shaman/Paladin were available on both factions. My friends are all big Alliance fans (I play both factions but prefer alliance) and unlikely to want to play Horde, so I wouldn’t be able to to play Shaman tank with them ☹️
I almost want to say they should try adding cross-faction raid groups like in retail, but I have no idea how that'd work in Classic, if it even could work.
horde blows
Shaman never was a alliance thing.
Its going to be level capped at 25, you should be able to do both factions.
NO. There is nothing worse that could happen to the game than this. I'd take the egregious flying mounts over this travesty.
It also should be said that Wild Strikes (Feral druid's WF Totem effect) was proccing from Rogues with active poison imbuements on their MH weapons... This is bonkers. In classic, WF totem would NOT affect weapons with poisons, sharpening stones, other weapon imbuements - etc. If Wild Strikes continues to affect these weapons, it makes it already more valuable than WF totem. The only saving grace from this would be if Wild Strikes is ENTIRELY independent of WF imbuement... Meaning enhancement shamans could gain both effects 0_0
Keep in mind that Turtle WoW has been in development for 5 years. I would expect SoD to be used to collect data for future V+
Brother I am sad to inform you that they are doing a server like vanilla ascension. So our hopes to get something like turtle are slim to none.
This is nothing like that garbage ascension server you clown. This is classic plus but you complainers just keep on whining. Yall ask for new content, they give it to you and you still whine. You cry about botters, they bring massive monthly ban waves, you still cry.
This is exactly what we asked for - vanilla with new additions and with all classes being viable along with some new specs. Ascension is TRASH - there are much less limitations allowing a much more ridiculous array of specs. These are the same classes we know and love with TBC and WOTLK spells/talents and an extra spec for a few classes. The class flavor still remains. Not even close to ascension.@@DaniDaDevil
@@DaniDaDevilcope
@@DaniDaDevil except it's nothing like ascension. Not classless, no crazy REs on every piece of gear. They could end up just changing talents to fit instead of using the rune system in the future and it wouldn't be much different.
Tr4nnywow KEKW
12:45 YES. That's exactly what I thought when I saw those hunter runes. They could have a stealthed pet too (may be a later level ability) and just wait and snipe people. Going to be so frustrating running through Ashenvale as a horde getting picked off but I can't wait.
Cannot believe how excited I am for this Season. I get the hesitence of so many new abilities, but we'll have to wait to see really how it feels, but Im all for it. They said so many things correctly which seems like they actually have a team now that understands the community they have, so we'll see what happens but damn am I stoked. Guild chat and Twitch chat will be popping with theorycrafting and info sharing.
I'm very excited to brew with the new builds, the phased progression to feel relevant while doing it.
I was expecting them to copy something like turtle wow, I was NOT expecting them to copy Ascension 😂
Have you played Ascension? Its very very different from SOD
@@felipediniz2048 the rune system is literally just the RE system but less flashy
This is nothing like ascension. That server is AWFUL. This is classic plus with a few added specs to spice it up.
it isn't even remotely the same, have you even played it lmao@@devonchafe2764
I get low key PoE Feelings from this. Putting spells into your gear. Also they Are doing delves in the New retail expansion
0:53 "Even had the words at Blizzcon it's all of Classic with a plus". That's not what Josh said. What he actually said was "It's everything you love about Classic, plus so much more". The time stamp for what he said in the WoW Classic panel is 20:50, go look it up.
If you're going to quote someone, at least get the quote right.
Leveling will be big problem with the new talents, its impossible for them to keep it balanced. This sounds like a small test before they would start developing actual Classic+ Expansion
They aren't talents. There's 0 changes to the talent system/tree
It's additions on top of talents
Talents? There are no new talents. How will leveling be harder or a problem with the new systems??
It should be said that Horde racials are still better than Alliance ones. Orcs having a near 50% reduction on stun effects, undead having a free fear trinket, ext... only shadowmeld can really compete with these, and even then its only a few.
i dont really mind if things are unbalanced it makes feeling like a power house much much better
11:18 you got me so god damn hyped to Classic+ aka SoD ♥
maybe the runes will be rare gear in classic+ it could be something to grind for and create an evergreen game
Drain Tanking as a Demon is a dream come true for me as a lock player. I always wondered why this wasn't in the game from the get go
TWoW all the way!💪🏻😬✊🏻
Blizz is gonna screw this up just like everything else during the past 10+ years.
I think it says a lot that I'm not even a long time or serious WoW player and I still am thinking of trying Season of Discovery since I got Shadowlands on sale a while ago and played for a month. I did play WoW years back in Burning Crusade release up to Lv57 as a Warlock and while I bored myself out of it (mostly because I was a a MMO noob and didn't know dungeons were a thing), I think this might be a good change to give it another shot.
Call me crazy, but I actually like MMOs that still have complexity to them... when I played Shadowlands, I felt that everything was on rails as far as progress went and while it was somewhat fun, I missed that there was more options to customize your build, even if it meant messing up.
I completely agree with you on all levels. One concern I have is the infinite re-useability of runes on gears … I’m worried that this kills a bit the identity of your character if he or she can do anything at any time
Class identity is something Blizzard has left behind a long, long, long time ago. Play private servers if you want WoW.
I'm playing Classic Era and it's really good@@napukapu
@@amacuro Let me clarify, if you actually want to raid without dealing with GDKP bs then enjoy private servers where people actually play and don't buy boosts.
@@napukapu not sure boost are going to be available on SoD 😅
Honestly I would be fine with some sort of places where you would have to go to change runes like rune forges or something 😊
From my understanding of warrior, they will still be at the top of the table. Their new added spells will further increase their already strong dmg.
My ranking: 1. warrior, 2. rogue/lock, 3. feral, 4. ret/mage (ret early, mage on 60 in t2+, mage can also be on par with ferals later), unsure about the rest.
As for healers: 1.paladin, 2. priest, 3. shaman, 4. druid, 5. mage looks kinda weak but we will see
I do want to play SoD and I am excited for it. It's definitely going to have issues but that's true for any game ever. My main concern is that they may not understand the assignment. Lots of abilities from future expansions, including the only direct enhance support being dual wield. As if there weren't 2 decades of that gameplay already. Some of it seems sweet. Tanking rogues, petless hunters, healing mages, all very cool.
I really do feel like they just fronted this as a seasonal thing to beta test what a classic+ server would look like. Blizz is making big moves!
Willie da 🐐
Over-cluttering it with spells from past expansions and making warlocks (cloth wearers) tanks among many other things with other class roles turns this into a retail type game. You can already see how low the player base is over there.
Pros: it is new
Cons: it is basically retail again in the classic world and lower lvl cap.
How could they F this up yet again?
Would love them to do SOMETHING with Wands so that they actually get used during a rotation somehow; even if it is simply like the hunter auto attack and happens while you are casting.
I also would love to see additional dungeons/raids quest lines for them at the various level caps.
See I knew this would open the flood gates of fix this now fix this now fix this. That's how we got retail.
@kuyt3400 You “got to retail” from TBC. The seeds for everything you dislike about retail started there and was an evolution over time. Just go play classic and quit complaining about something you’re not even interested to try.
@@o0Donuts0o So you made a lot of assumptions there buddy but im not going to be rude and tell you what to do. Try it out sometime.
@@kuyt3400This is a beta for classic plus so what is wrong with feedback? The biggest issue with classic is that there are two players “camps” and the no changes camp will literally never be happy with anything.
I just want classic +
Where all classes are unique but they've become more viable in raids and dungeons.
Where all zones are the exact same but they have become trickyer and tougher.
More dungeons, more zones.
You probably gave them the idea for Season of Discovery, damn that's impressive! Also I'm looking forward to this so much. I missed Vanilla WoW when it came out and really wish I didn't. I wont be missing this!
I think blizz was also looking at the success of vanilla + private servers like turtle wow, v+, and ascension
