Just wanted to share that this may help someone not too panic if you get high b-12 results. last week I was tested for b-12 and mine was above 2000. I was taking b-12 supplements, but didn’t think it should get that high. I decided retest 2 days after i stopped taking supplements and the test came down and was within the range. So if you take b-12 supplements and get high b-12 results, stop taking it and retake a test. Some suggest wait 2 weeks, but mine fell into range after two day. Hope it helps
MG, Glad to hear this. Mine was over 2000 last Monday when I did my bloodwork. My Dr said to be careful of the under the tongue B 12 which I was taking daily and go with only one per week. My pre test before the addition of B-12 was on the lower side but not severe so I'll follow my Dr's advice..
I don't take vitamins, or biotin, eat meat, or consume alcohol. For the last few years, my B12 was high. I was not warned of any potential danger. Unfortunately, today, I found out after suffering much pain in my stomach, and kidneys and having other symptoms such as fatigue that I suffer from leukemia and kidney and liver problems. I think this should be taken more seriously so that people could understand that there are potential dangers in having high B12 in the blood. I wish I had someone or a doctor tell me that I was running a risk of all this. I am not old and I feel like I have no life in me. Little by little this has destroyed my life and I fear for the lack of knowledge other patients facing the same situation may have. Maybe, you should make a video about the potential outcome of high B12 in the blood. It would save lives.
Thanks for sharing! I m working on a book dedicated to high B12 but could do a video on the dangers. I do go into this in some of the videos but may do another one on dangers.
This is exactly what my doctors think is going on with me! I’m having a liver scan soon also, i was never aware leukaemia could be with liver!! Not enough known about it
My doctor just called me and told me my b 12 is a bit high. I should lay off the engery drinks. However I do not drink those drinks. I don't eat any sugar nothing but eggs and meat with butter
Hi. I'm a 51 year old woman. My nurse practioner I see ordered blood work. My b 12 is over 2000. 2 years ago.it was 236. Since it was low the had me b 12 injections for 5 months. I have not been on any supplements. I'm having the test repeated but she said could be a liver problem or cancer. My liver function blood work was normal. So was my cbc

This is a good video. I'm not finding a diagnosis online by any shot, but am openly looking for thoughts on my B12 levels. I've not yet been given the full results yet, but have had terrible head pains and went to the doctor. Had blood tests taken and I was told that my B12 levels were borderline. I'm a man in his mind twenties, healthy, walks regularly (sometimes 12k steps a day), pushes weights (usually 40 kg) and enjoy cooking healthily. My whole family are like me in terms of cooking and I've grown up eating lots of vegetables and have continued that in adulthood. I had been taking multivitamins whenever I had a full day ahead of me but stopped before going home for Xmas this year. I had thought that the B12 levels could be linked to the head pains, but I now don't think so after taking vertigo medication and now believe that the levels are due to multivitamins. Bit of a wake up call because if it is vitamin supplements there is clearly some danger in taking them daily in phases (intermittently basically). I really welcome some thoughts on this because I'm not a heavy drinker by any means and would usually only have one beer every couple of weeks or so.
Love your video! It is so informative and also unlike the articles I just read, does not jump to the conclusion that you have some horrible disease as the most likely cause. :D I do supplement-1000mcg. Maybe I shouldn't. I am reading about all the high b12 foods and I eat sardines 1X week, can of tuna plain 1X week, salmon 1 week, 2 eggs daily, cheese and greek yogurt daily, grass-fed beef 3X week. Whew. Didn't know I was actually getting so much in my diet. I do eat TONS of healthy veggies too! I did get several B12 shots about 3 months ago, but that should have worn off. I will try skipping the supplement and retest in a few weeks. THANK YOU for taking the time and explaining this.
One other note, my supplement says Methyl B complete. (featuring patented quatrefolic 5-MTHF. ) Includes 25mg Riboflavin, vit B6 15mg, Folate 2000mcg, B12 1000mcg, and trimethylglycine 650mg.
Hi Diane, I did not see a direct question but maybe you are wondering if you need to take b12 or b vitamins in general? While most people will benefit from periodic supplementation, not everyone needs to take a b vitamin supplement every day.
A few months ago my b12 levels was high 1200 this was because I was on multi vitamins with b12 250up with a ri 10,000% I was terrified cause I Googled what it could mean and what I found was not good. Got re tested and now my b12 level is at 600. So like he said in the video if u r taking any vitamins/ supplements with more than the daily recommended level this can make your b12 levels increase.
I only take a multivitamin and my b12 is high. I cut back to taking it every other day but I feel so much better when I take it everyday. My Dr said to stop taking it all together but he wouldn’t do any other blood tests. Another Dr I have said don’t worry about high levels at all. So frustrating you have to take your health in your own hands!
I know this is old but I came across this video doing some research on my high B12 readings I got today. You mentioned biotin and it clicked, I have been taking biotin chews. I’m a little less worried now. Thank you for this video.
TINGLING, NUMBNESS, BURNING AND SLIGHT PAIN PROBABLY DUE TO “overdose” of b12: I supplemented with b12 without checking my levels first and took more than I should have. My levels were afterwards at 2000 and i stopped taking it. About 20 days later i began experiencing tingling, itching, numbness and some burning sensation on my left foot. Now my levels have gone down to 850. The neurologist said, although not sure, that i might have been caused due to the “overdose” of b12. I have been feeling this for a month. Anyone out there with the same issue?
Yes!!! Though I'm not totally sure of my levels right now. Previously 1807 and being monitored, I'm getting a tingling/burning sensation tips of toes and tips of fingers, but didn't associate the 2, l thought it may be some kind of nerve thing? I'll definitely be looking it up... Do you have tummy issues by any chance?
@@baileysice2715 Hi. I apologize if my reply shows up twice, apparently youtube did not save it. No, I havent had any tummy issues. However, my symptoms have been active for around 5 weeks. I have a second appointment with the neurologist tomorrow and will let you know. Are you ok with us keeping in touch to help each other? All the best to you.
@@swintegrative thanks for your reply. I cant find the link now but i found an article with a forum like option at the bottom where a few people complain about these symptoms and there is also info of this sort on the web once you dive in researching. I made a post here in case I find someone here with a similar issue and find out its outcome. Thanks for reading Southwest integrative medicine.
I'm on a ketogenic diet, eating healthy foods, and exercising. My B-12 level is (968 pg/ml). Doctor, is that number harmful. I admire your composure and lack of hasty judgment. I wish every doctor was like you. Stranger still, my hemoglobin and iron levels are low. I appreciate your generosity and reassuring demeanor. New sub.
@@kellymcdonell9687 . fantastic, and I found that the good bacteria I'm taking is the source of my elevated B12. I discovered that the component had 700% vitamin B12. I changed how often I took my probiotics from once a day to once every four days.
My B12 is high 1550 after one injection and take some B12 supplement, I'm so thin ...now i don't know should İ stopped eating food contains vitamin B12? İf yes so what should i eat...my main food is egg...? Thank you for a great info❤
Hi Doc. I have b12 levels of 1190. I don't take supplements. In 2020, it was at 400. I also have low neutrophils at 1.2, Serum inorganic phosphate at 1.57 mmol and MCHC at 353 g/L. RBC is a tiny bit out of range along with Creatinine and Potassium. Is this normal?
I had low levels of vitamin B12 I was given shots now my levels are at 2000 and something. I feel dizzy, I have a headache everyday, vomitong nausea, brain fog. I have hashimotos disease but my TSH levels are good now, all my bloods are ok except my B12. It was about a month ago I had a shot. When will my levels come down?
I took too much... been avoiding it since.. terrified of what it's doing to much.. been drinking a lot of water trying to flush it.. i hear it leaves in the urine.
my vit b12 level is elevated at 1177..i am thalassemia minor and taking folic acid 5mg tablets for past 4 months on doc recommendation. But ,for last few days, I am feeling tired, dizzy and brain foggy, also have a 3.5mm kidney stone.Complete blood counts are normal except eosinophils(6.2%) ..low urea ( 18mg/DL) and MILDLY ENLARGED LIVER on ultrasound..mild right abdominal discomfort for past few days and mild body itch. Liver function tests, creatinine are normal Could it be because of LIVER DAMAGE, LEUKEMIA ,KIDNEY DISEASE or folic acid supplement for past 4 months...i am afraid..please reply
Hi, I had delivered baby 3 months ago..During pregnancy it was on range around 600 but now its around 1400..I am breastfeeding my child so I am taking Iron and calcium only...What could be the reason of high b12
I'm so glad I came across your channel. Thank you for the amazing information Just receive a lab report with a High B12 level of >1476, and a High Ferritin level of 330 Not on any B12 supplement; however, I'm taking a multivitamin with some B12 and Biotin included, which is now stopped Trig=1.07, Cholesterol= 2.87, HDL cholesterol = 1.35, LDL choles= 1.03; WBC= 3.7, Neutrop1.6 I'm a vegetarian, and rarely drink alcohol. Just wondering what this could possibly mean? Having a f/u with family physician soon.
My mom is suffering from sever anesthesia in her foot fingers. She had diabetes and treating with b comlex and b12 injections. Is it likely the cause of anesthesia is the increase of b12 level, because the numbness has increased after injections?
Thanks for informative video❤ My test results are showing that B12 is 939 pg/ml and it is highlighted in red Does that mean it is harmful I dont take any supplements I eat healthy food and do sport regularly
Great video. Helped me understand a lot. My mother aged 72 has 2000 serum b12. She was on multivitamins, we stopped those. She has hietus hernia, RA, pulmonary fibrosis, macrocytic anemia too. Now I think her body is unable to absorb the b12 because she was getting it through multivitamins. Now she constanly has mouth ulcers too. What do you suggest how can the absorption be improved? The doctors arent helping much in this regard and her health is deteriorating day by day.
I had a Sadi Bypass last year and have all of a sudden had a high level result of 1200 for b12. This is apparently uncommon as low b12 is the common factor after bariatric surgery. I’m meeting with my surgeon today to follow up but I’m quietly panicking because I’ve been feeling unwell with a wide range of symptoms that have been brushed off for some time by medical professionals, which in turn has made my anxiety worse and amplifies my symptoms. I need some reassurance lol p.s. my liver results were perfect, cholesterol was slightly elevated but Dr said it wasn’t a fasting test so disregard that result. Thankyou for sharing this!
Hi.Thanks for sharing.I would like to ask you -what symptoms you experienced apart of high B12? Mine was high back in May ,never checked after. But since August I have lots different symptoms such as back pain, bowel disorder (diarrhea/constipation),difficult breathing, tiredness. All this make me anxious aswell.Have you sort it out what it caused??Many thanks

@southwest Integrative Medicine Hi Doc, loved your video. Question, is it okay to inject my b12 in my stomach ? I’ve seen videos that say okay but someone said their doctor says not okay. What’s your opinion ?
Hi doc ..my mom was having b12 from past 18 to 20 days and now when we got tested it was 1980. So if there's something to worry about.or it can be cured by having plenty of water and by controlling diet.. please share the answer asap doc..
My latest B12 number is 1720. I do not take any supplements with B12 in them. I do eat beef, eggs, fish, chicken. I used to have NAFLD but my liver panel is completely normal over the last 2 years. Would 500mg of Choline supplement help lower the B12 level? But the 2-3 whole eggs I eat daily have choline already. Thanks.
Hello Dr, Im on keto, have been for years and feeling amazing but my last blood panel all was normal but my B12 was 1475. I am fit, weight lifter post menopausal. Should I be alarmed?
Can taking B1 vitamin and eating lots of oatmeal and tuna cause your B12 to be elevated please? I have been taking B1 and Benfotiamine. I am trying to see if there’s a correlation between those 3.
I’ve had 2 b12 tests done, the last one was 1 week after a b12 injection. Looking back at my blood work over the past 6 months, my bilirubin was very slightly elevated and my liver enzymes very slightly but my doctor considered them normal. All of the readings are connected correct? I’ve had 8 plus months of bodily symptoms with no answers. Any feedback would be great!
thank you for the very interesting video, am looking forward for the next one, as i have high b12 >1476, and it seems the doctor here do not know about this case (blood test all normal except high b12, also live and kidney blood test was normal), i used to supplement multi with high b12 (methylcobalamine ) but i cut off 1 month before the test and followed a normal diet with low meat intake. any ideas what to do next? thanks from the Middle east
@@レモン-e2h Same for me too! I have high b12 > 2000 right now. I checked one month ago while supplementing and it was ~1500 so i stopped supplements. Now, I don't take supplements, but I did take some nutritional yeast (only 750% RDA a couple hrs before the test I think)
My B12 was 200 my FP started giving me injections. And now it’s 1500 , and I am pre-diabetes. I’m not sure what to do she said in 3 months I’d need to go on meds. . Should I get a sec opinion? I changed my diet. I’m 60 and have never had sugar issues
No doctor can figure out why i have high b12. My levels are between 1600-2000. Its been like this for 2 yrs. Im always extremely tired and struggle to get up. Struggle to function. Ive seen a hematologist. Im tired of feeling like this 😭😭😭
do you mean from a cell membrane issue/poor absorption into the cell? That is tricky bc there are a few reasons that can happen. If it is strictly the cell membrane and nothing else phospholipids should help. My other videos and book maybe helpful for you.
My body is going haywire . A very high b12 level and I don't inject nor supplement but I have nooooo energy 🤫 December b12 was low . What is going on ? Also my body is burning from high level of inflammation especially in my chest . AC unit set at 62 and I don't feel it . I don't get much sleep anymore , losing appetite and other health issues like a1c of 8.4 but getting it down . High blood pressure ( has been normal lately ) but the heart is 😲
Hi Angela, sounds like you have symptoms that span a lot of different systems. It sounds like you need a through check up by a doctor that can pin point the source of these. That's about all I can say based on your comment. good luck.
Everything was good in my blood test but I have a 849 b12 level which is higher than my doctor would like so he called me in. I have been supplementing B12, but I’ve had other symptoms that predate that so I’m a bit worried.
I take regular multivitamin for women 50+. 2016 result was 1000, yesterday, August 2022 test result show 1150. I don't take extra b12 supplement but eating high animal protein like fish, seafood, full fat dairy products and beef, because I exercise a lot and very active and thought the high fat diet is good for my lifestyle. I did not go overboard but should I limit or back to vegetarian diet? Doctor didn't mention anything about it. Thank you for any advice. I concern about eating diets. The past couple months I experienced pulsing legs, especially when waking up in the morning. Thank you
Incorrect it’s not the only way to check . A MMA methylmalanic acid test is the best test . Also a high homocysteine is also a strong indicator of low b12 . . Both are better than b12 serum test which is a well known flawed 25 percent up or down test
thanks for contributing. Im pretty sure I discussed these in this video but for sure in one of the others but MMA urine is best to test for low B12. This video is about high b12 and its implications.
hi there, you mentioned no. 3 cause which is the liver.. i have high liver enzymes.. what should i do? please help. 😢 alanine aminotransferase 130 AST 65 GGT 125 B12 1058 🤔
My B12 serum level is 944 ng/L I don’t take any supplements, I have swelling in one arm and had lymph nodes up in my elbow, feel so tired and weak, I’m being fast tracked to the breast clinic for suspected breast cancer? Does B12 being high have anything to do with breast cancer?
Hi Doctor, I’m glad I found your channel. I need help PLEASE. I did my blood tests yesterday but it was very strange. I had hight b12 like 1300, high ALT and AST and deficiency in vitamin D but everything else is normal. It got me worried because I workout 6 days a week and I usually eat healthy so I don’t know what’s happening? 🤷♂️
Hi, I'm vegan and I'm starting to monitor my B12 level. I went to a private laboratory and the b12 level came out very low. I took 1000 units a day. And every 2 months I went to the same laboratory, and the results were low. After a year of taking 1000 units a day, I realized that those in the laboratory were probably wrong and I did b12 tests at 3 different laboratories (same day) and the assumption came true. The question is whether this excess B12 has affected me and what other tests I should do.
I wouldn't be so sure about that. I took it 8 years ago and got a terrible insomnia and since then I'm not the same and recently I stop eating meat and I'm getting better. So I think this thing can be there for a long time stored in your liver and there are studies that back this up. There's too litter info on high b12, but now people are starting to release information and sharing their experiences on this real problem@@swintegrative
I am glad I found your Dr. I have not taken B-12 for over 9 months ( did not know Biotin, which will stop). It has increased during this time to 1383. I do not drink enough water to avoid interrupting sleep for a bathroom use. I have been watching my diet and do eat a high fat ( nuts, fruits, vegetables salmon cod meats pork) and hopefully not causing any liver damage. I walk 2-4 miles/ day and stay very active. Any suggestions?
I had bloodwork done during my physical this week and my B12 was elevated to 1383 pg/ml. It did freak me out a bit since my levels had always been normal. But listening to you made me realize I had taken a methylated Multivitamin and a methylated B complex when I got up that day so of course my serum levels would be elevated.
I’m healthy 63 years old female on ketogenic diet, my vitamin B12 is 1269 I’m not supplementing B12 vitamin , should I be worried of hi level of vitamin B12??
Hard to say for your specific situation each person has many different variables going on. For instance did u use to take b12 and now u stoped for 1 month? Do u have other chronic health issues? Do u just have one test showing high or multiple? These r just a few considerations.
My b12 levels have been over 2000 for 6 years, my active b12 is over 2000 as well. My b12 binding capacity is 364 which is low , I have all the symptoms of b12 deficiency, burning feet and hands, joint pain , weight loss , hyperpigmentation, muscle wasting and pain, headaches . My ferritin levels are also very high . My liver is mildly enlarged and I have biatrial enlargement too. Doctors have been of absolutely no help, I’m at a loss. I have autoimmune gastritis unfortunately. What can I do if anything?
So if you don't have a liver problem then maybe it's cell membranes not transporting things very well due to genetic stuff. So what can be done about this? My b12 level is 934. Also heard it's a sign you may have some cancer issues. What other blood related tests are worth looking at on B12 ? In an issue in addition to the red blood cell count which for me is normal.
Just got my reports today. My b12 is 1846. I don't take any supplements now. Used to take an year ago. Suffering from Central sensitisation syndrome, dysautonomia, autoimmune. Irony is when i was on supplementation, it was 1200. But now it's 1800. I am on a keto diet, and eat chicken 600g a day. That's all. Very confusing. Idk what my body is telling me. 😢
Hey doctor. Using B12 1400 mg per day for 1 year. Tested B12 today with regular blood work was normal except B12 was about 200 elevated was 850 and normal range is maximum 650 pmol/l. If I stopped the supplement, will the level decrease by it self or I have to stop eating certain food though to lower it?
@Southwest Integrative Medicine thx I use high dose of B12 1500 mg per day since 1 year for nerve pain. Now stopped taking any B12 since one month but that doesn't help nerve pain Any safe dose to take without side effects and without increasing my level? My last time was 850 pmol/l. Normal range lab reference maxi 650 pmol/l
My vit b12 level was 1035, wbc all normal and folate and ferritin . I take vit b12 daily and n complex . I switched forms from methylcobalamin to cyanocobalamin in the past month . 1000mcg Daliy . Should I worry?
Thanks so much for this video. Iv been taking 2 supplements daily which contain 200mg. How much b12 gets eliminated and how much is being absorbed? How do we test that? Iv read that too much b12 can cause cancer or cause autism in an unborn child, what is your opinion and do you have any additional resources to share perhaps? Thank you.
"too much b12 can cause cancer or cause autism". This seems misleading or more likely just false. A blood test tells you how much you are absorbing from your digestive tract.
Any time i take vitamin b supplements I get very anxious and jittery and can't sleep. It gives me to much energy. When I take vitamin d I get headaches and get a fullness type sensation in my head. Can someone please explain to me what the crap is going on? I don't eat amazing or bad.
Hi Doc. the recent year my B12 has gone up alot. i'm not using any B12 supliments. the suppliments i use is Liposomal vitamine c (1000mg a day) Omega 3 capsules (1-2 a day) melatonin at night (1-2mg) The 5 bloodtests i did from 2010 to 2020 i was between 507 Pmol/l to 655 Pmol/l and in april 2022 i had 720. And in december 2022 i had 1010, and today i had 1319 Pmol/l no other than the b12 values deviated outside the norm. My doctor doesn't seem that concerned. we was agreeing on trying to cut out all the supliments i take just in case some of them contains b12. the recent year i have adopted a little more unhealthy diet with more sugars and fast food than i had before. what is your tought behind this example? could it be the diet? Thank you
I have been searching in medical journals to find any studies done on dosage in B12 shots and how they correlate with blood B12 levels. Are you aware of any such studies? Mostly I am curious how one B12 injection could affect blood B12 levels, etc.
If one only ever had two vitamin B12 injections with no multi-vitamin use and B12 levels of 1,400 pmol on a blood test taken about two weeks after one of these injections, how long could one expect these levels to come back down? Would one see these go down to, say, half after three months of no vitamin B12 intake?
Hi, im in the uk, I have blood test regularly, the last few have shown vitamin d deficiency and lft levels were high, unfortunately this was missed, I was feeling ill, bloods re dine my b12 too high, folate too low and lft again 2 high, gp told me to repeat in 3months, if same I will be reffered to liver, could blood transfusion cause this, I have sps so had polyps removed but hemorrhage be 2yrs this June, thank you
Hmmm, not sure what your question is here. Transfusions would not cause these things generally but would look at why u need the transfusion to begin with. Vit d is not directly related to liver function.
Hey doctor!! I mistakenly took around 1500mcg drops of methylcobalamin B12 2 weeks ago. I have really had bad symptoms since then, like liver pain, stomach pain, insomnia, shortness of breath, chest pain, severe diarrhea, weight loss... Yesterday I did my blood test and surprisingly it came low on B12. I still have severe insomnia, shortness of breath and some diarrhea. What should I do with this issue? Please advice. Thank you!!
Hi The Snugs, I can't give you specific advise or treatments. However it does not look like a very high dose of vitamin B12. If your symptoms are from taking B12, they should not last long. I would recommend you consult with a local doctor on these to make sure.
Thaking b12 supplement every day cause to lower the thyroid hormone? So u better to take iodine supplement with selenium and magnesium to help with your breath shortness...ps if u have young with no blood pressure took magnesium with b6 so they can't lower u bp and if not just magnesium alone ..
Thank u so much for ur detailed video My blood test showed 628 Is this low?or high? I also have nausea and burning sensation and hard to digest the protein Did 2 endoscopy Ct scan Barium test They couldn’t find anything It’s very frustrating Is it related to b12 level ? Ur respond is appropriated

@@swintegrative thanks! i do take PC already, but i think genetically i have issues accessing it - have you ever come across that issue before? i do eat eggs, but i dont think its enough and i find supplements dont typically help much this this issue- cell membranes are super imporatant, is there any other fatty acid you recommend?
Hello firstly I would like to say thx for ur responses. I got recent labs the other day my b12 is higher 2k my alt is 60. I’m going to ask for a Methylcobalamin test. Do you know of any correlation with b12 n alt
hi Donajor8, yes alt is liver function test. The liver cells store some B12, so the high B12 could be coming from the liver. It's always important to re-check and verify the lab values bc your body is always in a state of change. I think you mean get methylmalonic acid test not methylcobalmin.
@@swintegrative yes there the test my liver and b12 been high since my unknown chronic illness I had a liver us a few year back. It was ok . What test u suggest for mycotoxins
For internally generated great plains is a good one. For environmental testing www.mycometrics.com/index.html is a good company but don't have as much experience w them.
Mine has been in Range 4000-7000 for 6 yrs. No one knows why. Now I'm having bad digestive system issues , gallstones, and fatty liver. What's wrong? It a started after being a vegetarian and had it low, then started to eat meat again and it spiked. Has been high ever since.
Hi , yesterday I received my bloodwork back. I have a slight elevation in B12. it read 1064. My doctor didn't seem concerned as the rest of my blood work came back completely fine. She did mention that if I am taking a supplement I should just take it every other day. I have been taking B complex for a few months that has 400mcg of b12. and before that for about three months my other B complex had 250mcg of vitamin B12... I never had low b12 before but just assumed we should all take it... Could the supplement with that amount be the reason for the elevation. I am a hypochondriac so google has not helped.
Hi, doctor my b12 was 2800 before two months now I retest it and it gets normal 850 with out taking any drugs . I really worry if it decreases another time, and worry about the reason behind it.
Hi there, thanks for the questions. I think it is normal for vitamin levels to fluctuate. It could be something as simple as consuming something rich in b12 before the first test and not in the second. Most of the time when B12 levels are low it is from low consumption/ intake from food.
Hello, I have done several blood test in the past where the doctor told me am deficient in B12 ,he told me I should be eating food that contain b12 to boost it, I started eating more eggs and chicken and a lot of fish, recently I did test and I was told my b12 is high and the doctor said I should see heamotologist for more test. Kindly explain further please.
Hi Derick, this sounds odd to me and not sure I can explain. I would have to know more about the situation, like how low it was and how high it is now. A single test being high is not typically concerning but the details do matter. If your doctor made this recommendation, they had a reason. I can't say why.
My B12 Level is 1159. Low HB though. I’m not sure why it’s so high. I take iron supplements twice a day with 1000 mcg. Can that be the reason? I’m worried for it to be something dangerous
Mine is high, just a bit over 2000. But I have a Myeloproliferative disorder. (Polycythemia Vera) But it’s never been high until after taking ‘chemo’ hydroxyurea & Jakafi. I know this is in depth, but do you delve into these causes? Mainly out of curiosity for my peace of mind and understanding of my body.
if you have high creatinine blood levels and low gfr and high alkaline phosphate and high albumin and high vitamin B12 blood levels does this indicate kidney disease and if so is it also related to the liver, please?
context is very important because these test scan be influenced by other things and susceptible to rapid change (from one day to the next). ongoing elevated creatinine typically means dehydration, large body mass, or kidney disease.
I’m so worried. My bloodwork came back and my vitamin d is pretty low and my b12 is 1218. The Dr said it was high, but isn’t acting like it’s of concern to her. Meanwhile I went to google and freaked myself out with reading about high b12. For about 10 months I have been taking a multi vitamin daily with 500 mcg of b12, but I stopped taking it about two weeks before my blood draw. Could that amount of b12 in a multivitamin cause it to be high like this? I’ve also been experiencing numbness on my right side, pins and needles and dizziness.
I have this same problem!! The numbness and tingling on my right side is soo annoying. My blood tests came out like yours high b12 and low D levels ! How are you now?
Same. I got my b12 level yesterday and it came out around 3000 +. Been having numbness and pins and needles on my upper and lower extremities. What did you do to lower your b12? How are you now?
@@Ramos_0507 Hi; I’m wondering if any doctor ever resolved or explained any correlation between elevated high B-12 levels and neurological symptoms. (tingling/pins and needles sensations). Hi. I have a serum B12 level of 745 ng/l and a monocyte count of 0.8 10*9/L I have been experiencing pain all over the body, arms, legs, chest (which feels like not enough blood/oxygen is being supplied) Based on my blood work, do you think that is something of concern? I would really appreciate the advice.
I don't think your b12 levels have anything to do with your symptoms, since it is in a normal range. I would need a lot more information to be able to help you find out what might be causing those symptoms. The "pain al over body" is a concern and should be evaluated with a face to face visit with a doctor. I can say that the b12 level you report seems normal.
This is the best content on the internet on this topic. Thank you for the information. I previously had really low B-12 and low white blood cells so was sent to a hematologist. I am how showing really high B-12 after weekly injections + supplementation. How quickly can I dilute the B-12 out of my body. I started drinking loads of water but hoping to figure out timelines.
My son aged 10 years is having B12 levels 855 pg/ml. This value is consistent from many months. Is it alarming? Does going vegan help reduce B12 levels in blood ?
Seems a little high but really need to check w your doctor. It’s not the b12 itself that is the issue. It is what’s causing it to be high that can be a problem for some.
For any one who suffer from b12 elevation..if u young with no blood pressure use cystine until ur reach a balance level .but if ur older with blood pressure .diabets taurine is the best it will help with b12 even with bp diabets cholesterol .but that's only if ur not on medication.. you don't want to use supplement with a medicine it will interfer.
Thank you for sharing that. That has been my experience with patients as well
MG, Glad to hear this.

Neither high or low b12 cause head pain. Sometimes taking b12 can give people headaches but the high levels of b12 in the blood does not cause this
Love your video!
Thanks for sharing
what are the daily recommendations?
That's exactly what happened to me.
Same thing has happened to me because of supplements, I stopped it and proceeded to naturally taking it
Common sense
I only take a multivitamin and my b12 is high. I cut back to taking it every other day but I feel so much better when I take it everyday. My Dr said to stop taking it all together but he wouldn’t do any other blood tests. Another Dr I have said don’t worry about high levels at all. So frustrating you have to take your health in your own hands!
I don’t think it’s harmful
I know this is old but I came across this video doing some research on my high B12 readings I got today. You mentioned biotin and it clicked, I have been taking biotin chews. I’m a little less worried now. Thank you for this video.
No problem. Thanks for your comments.
Same with me! I read in the high 1,900 and I am also taking 30k mcg. I feel a lot better.
I am taking biotin too.

I don't think high B12 causes numbness and tingling. There are other reasons B12 can do this (in some cases) but not from it being high.

If b12 is high absorption is ok. It may not be getting I to cell but that is different and will see high MMA level

I had a Sadi Bypass last year and have all of a sudden had a high level result of 1200 for b12. This is apparently uncommon as low b12 is the common factor after bariatric surgery. All of the readings are connected correct? I’ve had 8 plus months of bodily symptoms with no answers. Any feedback would be great!
Hi Catherine, bilirubin is not always correlated with liver enzymes, sometimes it is. Vitamin B12 will not cause elevated liver or bilirubin.

My b12 is high from taking more then I need just because your level is high does not mean its your liver
Hi Pammy, this is true. Simply consuming b12 supplements regularly is the most common reason for a blood test to show high.
If the cause is scenario number 2, what do you advise?
do you mean from a cell membrane issue/poor absorption into the cell? That is tricky bc there are a few reasons that can happen. If it is strictly the cell membrane and nothing else phospholipids should help. My other videos and book maybe helpful for you.

It could be from the mtv and in that case it’s not a problem.
Incorrect it’s not the only way to check . A MMA methylmalanic acid test is the best test . Also a high homocysteine is also a strong indicator of low b12 . . Both are better than b12 serum test which is a well known flawed 25 percent up or down test

Hi Daniel, no I would not worry about it. If you stop taking the B12, you will see the levels coming down each month you test it.

High protein diet can also raise b12 levels. Please check out my other videos on this topic to get more details
What about high b12 in a child and also high AST?
Usually goes down on its own.

I have high B12 Kobalamin i train and i eat a meat every day as cheese eggs and more of thoose nutrition is it something to do with it ?
can you help please, can NAFLD cause high vitamin b12? or is it something more serious?🙏
Liver inflammation can increase b12 as noted in videos.

Hi Doc. the recent year my B12 has gone up alot. i'm not using any B12 supliments. the suppliments i use is Liposomal vitamine c (1000mg a day) Omega 3 capsules (1-2 a day) melatonin at night (1-2mg)
The 5 bloodtests i did from 2010 to 2020 i was between 507 Pmol/l to 655 Pmol/l and in april 2022 i had 720. And in december 2022 i had 1010, and today i had 1319 Pmol/l
no other than the b12 values deviated outside the norm. My doctor doesn't seem that concerned. we was agreeing on trying to cut out all the supliments i take just in case some of them contains b12. the recent year i have adopted a little more unhealthy diet with more sugars and fast food than i had before. what is your tought behind this example? could it be the diet?
Thank you
It is unlikely that a supplement would contain B12 without listing it.
I have been searching in medical journals to find any studies done on dosage in B12 shots and how they correlate with blood B12 levels. Are you aware of any such studies? Mostly I am curious how one B12 injection could affect blood B12 levels, etc.
I have come across this information in medical journals. Look through the articles posted in the descriptions of the high b12 videos. It may be there.

If one only ever had two vitamin B12 injections with no multi-vitamin use and B12 levels of 1,400 pmol on a blood test taken about two weeks after one of these injections, how long could one expect these levels to come back down? Would one see these go down to, say, half after three months of no vitamin B12 intake?
maybe not half but they would come down for sure if everything else is normal.
Thanks so much! Your channel is definitely the most informative on this topic. Went through all the referenced journal articles in one of the links.
And maybe also ur supplement brand are bad has a bad fillers
Hi doc my mothers albumin range is high and b12 1300 she doesn’t take supplements and doesn’t eat non veg plesse suggest

My blood test showed 628
Is this low?or high?
I also have nausea and burning sensation and hard to digest the protein
Did 2 endoscopy
Ct scan
Barium test
They couldn’t find anything
It’s very frustrating
Is it related to b12 level ?
Ur respond is appropriated
My b12 level was 2000! I was supplementing but for some reason I feel like it’s just sitting in my system
That could be homocysteine and MMA test might be helpful.
I just my results back as well my b12 was also 2000 I take injections
Mines too! Same exact number.
Mine too!!!
b12 tests cap at 2000 so that is usually why they will say 2000> but they could be much higher
great video! how do you fix the cell membranes?
Thank you! Supporting cell membranes with fatty acids and phospholipids and the latter being more important. Something like this could help geni.us/RhaqAz (affiliate link)

Hi Subba, sorry to hear this there is no way I know of the reduce it but it should gradually get better within a few days or week.

Consider microbial overgrowth in your digestive tract.
A person taking Coumadin May have higher levels of b12?
No I don't see why that would make B12 level higher.
It's the supplement more than likely.
My levels of B12 levels are 337. What does that mean?
That is actually a big low.
Hello doctor my B12 is 958ng is it something to worry about please, .Been informed it is not something to be concerned about .please advise
Not likely from taking iron unless it has B12 in it. Sometimes it’s just genetic and not a real problem.
Mine was over 2000 but I drink an electrolyte drink with high b12 daily. I love the drink (zipfizz) should I stop drinking it?
not if you like it. the high b12 is a problem if you don't consume extra b12 not sure why it is high
Thanks for this straight forward information.
Your welcome Cheryl!
Hi firetech700, There are two other videos on high B12 levels. I think these will help you. th-cam.com/video/71B9OJ81WaE/w-d-xo.html
if you have high creatinine blood levels and low gfr and high alkaline phosphate and high albumin and high vitamin B12 blood levels does this indicate kidney disease and if so is it also related to the liver, please?
context is very important because these test scan be influenced by other things and susceptible to rapid change (from one day to the next). ongoing elevated creatinine typically means dehydration, large body mass, or kidney disease.
Hi Santina, it could have caused the high reading. You have to just check it again in a month or so.
I have too much vitamin b12 and my feet tingle
I have this same problem!! The numbness and tingling on my right side is soo annoying. My blood tests came out like yours high b12 and low D levels ! How are you now?
Same. I got my b12 level yesterday and it came out around 3000 +. Been having numbness and pins and needles on my upper and lower extremities. What did you do to lower your b12? How are you now?

Hi; I’m wondering if any doctor ever resolved or explained any correlation between elevated high B-12 levels and neurological symptoms. (tingling/pins and needles sensations). I’ve ready many comments to this video, including yours detailing these symptoms. I’m struggling with something similar.

No nuts are not a high source of b12. MTV can spike it though.

Hi Erika, Glad you liked it! There will be more detailed videos on the same topic coming soon.
Mine is very high 1500.
Did you find the cause of high levels of b12?
What symptoms do you all have? I have also elevated B12, no supplements, pins and needles, cold hands and feet, brain fog, tingling and etc.
@@uzmaali69 mine also same problem how r u now
@sumeen ahmed how are you now ?
Does this mean b12 is a type of protein? Transportation to bring the b12 is poor, due to what? Sorry i m not a clever person. Just asking?
How long would 600mcg in a shot be detectable in your blood? Would it leave bloodwork elevated for weeks?
Yes typically shots will leave elevated levels for weeks maybe months if there have been many shots.
Hi Athar, I would expect 3-6 weeks just by not taking it. High B12 is not a problem if it is high from taking it.
i have the same high b12 low whoite blood. Also chronic fatigue syndrome and ehlers danlos. Did you find out the cause of your high b12?

My b12 was 2000. My doctor told me to stop. What do you think?
