Yeah I’m pretty sure they know that, hence why they’re planning for the upcoming IOS 18 to be the biggest software update in the history of IPhone.
They did update their IPad selling Apps and the IPad is a consumption device not a PC. I think adding an Oled screen with a chip that will last years is the best thing they could do for a consumption device that most people use to watch movies or play video games.

Would love these iPads to have a “desktop mode” option to improve workflows for some users. Doesn’t matter how powerful these chips are if the workflows don’t make sense. For me personally, iPads are more for consuming content, not creating it.

If Apple does not improve the iPad software, what's the point of purchasing this new iPad Pro? The last three generations of iPad Pros' true potential was never unlocked, leaving me to believe it's not worth it. Hopefully, their iOS event in June will prove me wrong.
We can only hope... Updated of logic/final cut tells us they won’t be canning iPadOS - and no mention of even a decent file management upgrade... probably a Siri AI update at best... I'm not going to get too excited...

It’s still ok. More hz is not needed.
Even in gaming it can be interesting for pro gamers but for normal games it’s still good. And on an Ipad where you watch videos or simple tasks these 120 hz is more than enough.

Those prices are US only. They got more expensive in Europe to the point where iPad Pro's are insanely expensive if you want to get with all presented features (5G, Pencil, Keyboard).
Same in Canada, if you go with a 13 inch with accessories it isnt much cheaper than a open box/refurbished 14 inch MBP
£2577 for the 13 inch Pro with 1 TB, 5G, Magic Keyboard and pen (no Applecare, no textured glass). That's just insane... same price as a high spec 14 inch M3 Macbook Pro. Samsung headed in the same direction with their top tablets... we need more competition in this segment to bring prices back down to reality. At least you can get the Samsungs a lot cheaper 1-2 months after launch and refurbished, compared to Apple they depreciate a lot faster.

If you don’t need it for work then you can buy a lot of other stuff. Or just go for the basic model Ipad Air.
Prices are expensive in US. But in many countries outside of US they are a joke. Here in Sweden if you want the 13" it's starts at ~1800USD, if you want the pen and magic keyboard it will be 2400 USD for the *base* version. If you want 1tb or even 2tb you are looking to pay upwards of 3600USD
@@shottydd Madness prices for a device that does not actually have any killer new functionality feature for creatives besides new Pencil Pro. Sure, nice have things like screen or lightness but this will not add anything to creativity, you can be better off with new Air.

You MISSED a VERY important point: Apple has only provided 3 performance cores on the M4 iPad Pro up to 512 GB. If you want all 4 performance cores, you must get 1 TB or above.

Yes, this is the most important point. With only three P cores, the m4 on 256 and 512 version may not even be as good as m3. Very convenient for apple to call it m4 to push the sales and only put the full performance chip on 1 TB and 2 TB version, which start at 1899!!

My iPad pro is the most annoying device which i own. So much limitations, a lot of problems with the file browser and server, a lots of plugins does not exists, ... It is only good for Netflix, and in this case to expensive. A MacBook Air with 8 GB ram is a better choice.
I wish iPad can run desktop apps, then the extra power from the chip would make it a great value and not be limited to apps only.

When the software catches up with the hardware, I'll consider upgrading. As of now, this just a even more power "tablet" that does the same thing as my M1 iPad pro. We are already getting 120 fps in some games with older hardware.

I was hyped to buy this on day one, but it's lack of wireless/MagSafe charging, single Thunderbolt port and 8GB RAM limit along with a pricetag higher than an M2 Studio Max make it a no-go.

Currently have ipad air (3rd gen). Upgrade to 11" ipad pro or 13" ipad air? Better screen or bigger screen? like most people, use exclusively for watching movies, tv shows, zoom calls, etc. Just trying to decide whether to go with bigger screen or 11" OLED.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm finding it incredibly difficult to justify upgrading from my M1 11" iPad Pro even with these fancy new models. The older iPad's display is still more than good enough for me and the M1's performance is excellent for everything I use it for.

All I care about is will the pro be able to utilize the full thunderbolt 4 speeds and support super fast file transfers, like from a CFExpress B to an external SSD. I'd love to be able to ditch my laptop and travel with just an iPad and use that for offloading memory cards at the end of a shoot day.

You dont. The software no different for this M4, as it was for the M1. Hardware only as good as the software. Save your money, and get a laptop instead.

My biggest question is why? There's nothing the new ipad pro can do that the M1 iPad pro cannot. Sure, the tandem oled is amazing and the 5mm thickness is totally new. But if you really need that much horsepower, you'll be severely limited by iPadOs anyway. The new iPads are very overpowered but with underpowered software.
For those that don't know you get the 4P/6E only with the 1 and 2TB options otherwise it is binned 3P/6E M4. True 8:15 the m4 macbook pro's are the only ones compatible with the new magic keyboard but not with the old ones as well as the apple pencil

As an artist using the pen a lot, I hate that the camera is much thicker than the device itself. Now it’s even worse ☹️

My 10.5 Pro still works just fine. M4 Pros look like a great update but only would consider it if came with crazy huge discounts. Nice display, decent chip performance boost, I would expect great life circle from M4 iPad lineup.

the one question i have that hasn’t been answered is whether the iPad Air M2 edition supports the Apple pencil hover feature. Crickets. Looks like this is the hook to get you to spend the money on the iPad Pro model, ergo the far more expensive version which definitely does have the Apple pencil hover feature. When I asked this quesiton…and not knowing the definite answer to this one question stops me from buying this and saving it for the unfortuantely more expensive model the iPad Pro.

The OS and Software available is still not pro enough, a MacBook Air is a far better bet and its cheaper, I am going to stick with my M1 12.9 inch ipad pro, and Macbook pro.
I think the old Magic Keyboard is one of the best typing experience I had and one of the best looking case.

@@MaxTechOfficial I did. It would be interesting to explore how Apple dropped the 10MP Ultra Wide camera, optical zoom, mmWave 5G, & 1 mic! I'm assuming these are costing-cutting measures to offset the price increase caused by the new Tandem OLED display tech. Also, no faster charging, MagSafe charging, reverse wireless charging or Wi-Fi 7 support. I cannot wait for your videos to see what you have to say about all of that!

The Ipad pro with oled looks really great, a great device to watch Netflix. Is there a world where there is room for the Ipad pro and a Macbook pro? Should you own a Macbook pro and an Ipad pro, or should you just buy a Macbook pro instead? The Macbook can replace the Ipad in most situation buth the Ipad can't replace the macbook. € 1.569 for a beautiful device with a great screen but can't replace the Macbook, is that a good idea?
Seems goofy for the Pro to be thinner than the Air. It also adds to worries about durability.

no, only do it if you waste money, wait until your device is dead i would say, otherwise you have 2, one piece that's worth almost nothing and that piece is gonna dust hard also, don't fall for the marketing manipulation, they want us to consume, they wanna have our money and they don't care about you.
i would also buy a older gen once the one you have is broken, and secondhand so you don't pay the ridiculous apple tax that's already included in the price.

Just bought an M2 11 pro with a good discount and full storage. I had an 10.5 iPad Pro before and the difference there is significant. Yes, the M4 would be nice to have , but I prefer having more storage and saving some hundred bucks
The people who complain about the price are the same people who think the CyberTruck is a "deal" at $100K. The iPad will last longer between charges, get FREE over the air updates, have ZERO breakdowns, will never need a battery replacement....and as thin as it is...will not chop off your finger !
But I'm sure Jerry will snap it in 2 even easier than last year's model. Oh, and from experience, Apple stuff does break and if it happens out of warranty or you don't have Applecare, good luck.

According to Apple specification the battery time is exact the same like their previous models, and the rest of of your post ist just copium. A MacBook Pro is even cheaper by 200USD, which better specs - therefore you can get a Wacom. Sorry but this product is a fail and it will harm Apple, because people will wait now for update their ProDisplays, or Macs for M4/ tandem OLED. Those who just bought an M3 MacBook, just realize that their Apple Silicon is outdated 2 month after release.
Are you now paid by Apple, this new iPad is well over priced, it’s not much of an upgrade and it costs £300 more than the previous model, you haven’t even mentioned the lower models come with binned CPUs, you seem to be the only TH-camr pleased with upgrades, do know people can’t even pay their bills. It is an upgrade, the cpu is 50% faster and the gpu is 4 times as fast as the m2. Please stop yapping man.
The price for the base model is quite expensive though. Practically pricing some people out but eh to be expected with crazy inflation.

Also oled which bumps up costs dramatically. Personally I don’t like oled due to burn in. My s20fe is burned in quite heavily.
All I really want to know is the battery life on the new air and how it compares to the M1. I have the 256GB WiFi-Cellular 5th gen iPad Air and the battery life sucks. It goes from 100% to 50% in 1 hour and 30 minutes while just using it for FaceTime… that doesn’t work for me. I want something that can last me at least 5 to 6 hours easy without having to be worried that if I don’t bring my charger I for sure will not have to much to do on it. The Pro sounds like a big step forward when it comes to features but I am worried about battery life because of how thin it is.
You missed a very important point that Apple was covering up in the presentation; the RAM size in those models.
You only get a 16GB of RAM if you buy the pro models with 1 or 2 TB. Which means you will end up paying way more than the Macbook Air for a device that doesn’t come with MacOS so you can’t use full featured software on it.
In essence, there is no need to have iPad pros and Macbook Airs if only iPad pros came with MacOS but Apple just wants to get your money out of your pocket!

I was hoping for the Air to have an M3 chip to match my iMac. I'll hang on to my M1 Air for now. It still works so well.
