Join EriK for another home renovation project at his house where he adds some much needed storage and organizational workspace to his sunroom. This project includes the framing, drywall, built-ins, and shelving to turn a waste of space into a very functional area for the home.

I read the entire Ryan's th-cam.com/users/postUgkxGqOCINHE0Z0E5gxzSdNi9NWGugRY5Hm2 Plans and was able to make a shed plan. Using Ryan's Shed Plans alone, the shed itself is great. Where I wish I knew more is with respect to ground preparation and foundations. Maybe that's beyond the scope of Ryan's Shed Plans.

FYI The drag marks in the drywall mud we’re caused by a dirty knife (dried/clumps of mud) Clean the knife off after each pull by just wiping it on the edge of your pan. Also helps to have a bucket of water handy to clean tools as you go as well.

As a remodeler and renovator ... I primarily work solitary from the demolition to the initial build to the finish work .... drywall, tile, trim, paint EVERYTHING. It's been difficult to find help and lately some young cooks at a local restaurant in town asked what I do and asked if I needed help on the projects. I said Hell yeah! Im 52 and they are mostly 25 years younger and they pick up the skills fast. We get along well and they are super fun to be around. They help me whenever they aren't working at the restaurant and I pay them $25 hour cash. THANK YOU Northern Tool and Equip for sponsoring my favorite Utube channel and getting more young eager people into these trades.!!!

This is HUGELY inspirational. I am going to construct a temporary pantry in our kitchen similar to this one, except I'm going to use OSB instead of drywall. It's going to serve its purpose perfectly well until we re-do our kitchen. When we do, we purchased sections of wooden bowling lanes to use on our countertops!

  • @namAehT
    @namAehT 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The next guy that wants to renovate that kitchen is going to hate you for building that pantry on top of the tile. Speaking from experience lol.
Also a pro-tip about tile/glass drilling. Take a bit of modeling clay or something and make a little bowl around the hole you're about to drill. Fill it with water and drill away. Not only will it keep down the dust (silica dust is no joke), but it'll also cool the bit and prevent cracking.

Hey y'all, just wanted to pass this tip I picked while putting drywall up in a our newly remodeled home. Use a hawk and a 4 inch blade when putting on your first coat of joint compound. Use one edge of the hawk to clean excess "clean" mud off the blade for reuse and another edge (preferably away from your clean mud) to scrape off any "bad" mud. This will help you stay clean and ensure that you always put on a smooth coat which will limit sanding. Once that has dried, go back with a 6" blade using the same approach. You can then go back with wider blades if you need to fill wider areas (outside corners, butt joints). Three passes may seem like a lot, but it will keep your house much cleaner and limit the amount of sanding needed. Keep up the great work and keep the content coming!

Your good lady dodged a bullet when Jamie started the maths sequence. The kitchen scales were nowhere to be seen........ Messy trowels, yep that is me and paint. Don't do it anymore !!!!!! The pantry looks good.

I'm not a contractor, not a drywall guy either. But have fixed a lot of drywall in my homes and use the mud for really cool textures.

I wish the door went higher closer to the ceiling, this will create an open feel inside the pantry and opens it up making it look bigger and more accessible.

The reason the opening dimensions don’t check out on those doors is because you’re able to split the head of the jamb and recess the track inside of the casing.

This was super entertaining!! Love seeing Erik try mudding and taping for the first time. Definitely the mud was too thick from the get-go. Also, when using paper tape with quickset (hot mud), I follow Vancouver Carpenter's tip to mix in all-purpose glue with the water to increase adhesion and strength with the paper tape.

I'm a Milwaukee guy with everything but the nail guns. I'm not crazy about Dewalt but their nail guns are excellent. At least the ones I've used. 34 years in the carpentry trade and enjoy watching your vids and your crew.

Look at all that available space on top of the counters. Time to load them up with stuff.

It really helps to thin out the mud for skim coats. The constancy of thick cake batter or pancake batter. Also look out for chunks in the mud that causes tool marks.

you should build something that pulls out of it for the appliances stored and keep them plugged in for when they are needed

The drag marks are from the dried crumbs on the trowel. Keep it clean and the work/rework will be much less. Kudos for trying your hand. You’ll get better with practice. Love your channel. Keep it real

You should have cut the baseboard at 45 degrees then cut along the front edge with coping saw. 100% perfect every time

This is the first time I've seen you guys use mdf. We use it for everything internally in the UK and the finished product always looks far better than using softwoods that will be painted anyway.

Looks great! I would of left the countertop on the right out further so you can put a chair under it and have a second writing surface since it’s for your kids homework.

I did a hospital demo and they caulked the drywall corner on a doorway partition, I never would have guessed it was caulk until I demoed it

interesting way to do the scribed mitre. I've always cut the piece on a 45 and then removed the angled part.
