  • Chnaging out the CCV filter on the Ram 3500 but we modify the system to add a catch can. To make room we add the Bank CAI and get some sweet turbo noises to boot.

    White Teflon is perfectly acceptable for use in hydrocarbon applications. The yellow is simply a color added for inspection in natural gas services to make sure youve used teflon tape. I work in an oil refinery and we use white Teflon on every service from natural gas all the way up to as heavy as bunker fuels and lubrication oil.
    Great video, I'm looking into doing a catch can for my 6.7 cummins.

      @neckofthewoods24 Yes, it is definitely thicker. My point is you can safely use white Teflon on hydrocarbon service. You wrap it more if you need more.

    From my understanding Banks is the best but to me I have never added a cold intake, instead I changed the air filter to a K@N filter on all my vehicles. The only thing I changed was the exhaust to a good stainless exhaust for long life and better exhaust. I have never had a problem or had to buy another K@N filter as I used their cleaner and spray on oil and I kept some trucks to 175,000 miles and 16 years old.

      I’ve done both! Just depends on the situation like this one. The Miata got a K&N I don’t think i mentioned. But the other 2 are CAI’s.

      If you own a cummins and have a K&N filter in it, I recommend removing that filter and changing to something else. A few yrs back, cummins put out a bulletin stating that using a K&N filter in their motors would void the warranty.

    My Cummins ISX 15L in my international vents to atmosphere down at the bottom of the motor leaves a nice little oil spot when I idle or park for the night. Had one that would smoke out that hose first few times I thought something was burning under the hood. Definitely looking to add that plastic one you got to my ram.

      @ I changed mine on my 17 ram at 55,000 and it was definitely dirty/ oily so I plan on changing mine every other oil change or so they really are not that expensive of a filter I get mine from the local international truck repair / cummins repair shop.

      mine was at almost 70k and yes very dirty! i definitely wouldnt do it every other oil change though. theres a ton of media in there to hold back oil from getting to the turbo. 75k is way to long and maybe even 55k but unless youre doing 10k+ oil changes i wouldnt do it sooner.

    I’m going to design my catch can routing hoses to go straight up from the exit point of the catch can so maybe I’ll catch more oil instead of just bypassing the new can due to it being in a straight or down position line dumping oil into my turbo - all i can do is try it & see what my results are 👍🏼

      I got mine about 4-5 months after the COMMIFORNIA compliant ones came out. It’s on my 2015 Ram 3500. Always throwing P04DB ( crankcase ventilation disconnected). Always as in several times year. It does seem to throw it more often when it’s windy out!🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ Or when about 200 miles into a longer drive, with or without a load. My diesel shop did the installation. Banks have been zero help unfortunately.

    Stumbled across just seeing what others have done with CC mounting in the engine bay. You really don't want to put a can on that small line, that's the drain from the OE CCV Filter back into the block. If you look at the pricey Dirty Diesel Customs Valvecover/CCV Delete/Catch Can configuration they use that line to drain their can so you never have to empty it.

    • @neckofthewoods24
      @neckofthewoods24  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@joshuaeb09 this was only installed on the line going back to the turbo so the suction is very large and powerful to pull out blow by. So I’m not sure what you’re talking about.

    • @joshuaeb09
      @joshuaeb09 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@neckofthewoods24 In the begging of your video you show a bit of concern about the CCV drain line. I'm just calling out that it is indeed an oil drain line back into the pan. The cummins isn't at all like most gas applications where you have a "clean" side and "dirty" side for the PCV/Crankcase Ventilation plumbing like you'll find on boosted Hemi/LS/other applications. You just have the suction side pulling through the CCV - aka where you installed your can.
