My original beautiful Kenwood TS990S & 2 brand new SP990 Speakers have come home to be enjoyed again

The crazy things we do, I actually own a beautiful TS990S lineup that's actually a later serial number than this one returning to its original home, but the heart wants what the heart wants and I always regretted selling this incredible radio.
Just hooked it up and it's running beautifully, I really want to dedicate a bit more time to using the old girl. I know I rave on considerably about my Gold IC7850 Icom flagship 50th anniversary blah blah blah and,admittedly, I spend more time cleaning tge grand piano look than using but the Kenwood TS990S at an original sell price of $7990 was just over half the price of the IC7850 at $15000 and honestly, a lot of us IC7850 owners were very annoyed at Kenwood after spending $15k on the IC7850, this offering from Kenwood really made you think, what have I done🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 The IC7850 is a powerhouse radio however, it's not $7000 more powerhouse than the Kenwood TS990, Kenwood had definitely put Icom on high alert for sure.

What a buitiful piece of equipment!
I'm from the old school and the more buttons and switches, the better I like it.
I have a Kenwood TS-590SG and love it. It's coupled to an SDRuno and a Windoze-10 Mini-PC, which gives me a great Spectrum View.
I'd love to play with your TS-990 for a weak or two......

I just love radios with 120+ buttons and 15+ knobs on the front. Nothing finer ever made, if you ask me.

Sadly a friend bought his 990 here in the UK and subsequently emigrated to the USA in an HOA environment. Probably has not had an antenna connected to it for 10 years.

I upgraded my SP 990 speakers with the Phonema PHITS kit which makes them even better sounding. I have a video of it on YT. 73.

It’s a nice radio but I’ll take an ICOM 7850/7851 any day of the week.I much prefer the meters on the ICOM as well.I Hate the Kenwood meters.🎙
