I worked all my life behind a desk staring at a computer screen. Had a good job. I loved it. But I got to say, watching these dudes dance around these behemoths is very entertaining. Awesome video.
@ 4:30 the lack of communication is MIND BLOWING !!! operator makes No attempt to stay on boards and the guys moving the boards around have no clue where the operator is going to go. OPEN you mouth and SPEEK TO EACHOTHER !!!!
No kidding! That in fact is a huge understatement. Most drivers hate low boy trailers, more/less with such a huge long trailing load. Have to go slow...
In answer to sus sus, Grove Crane is a part of Manitowoc Corp., and usually seen are the multi- axle tired machines like the Demag's. Grove Cranes are made in Shady Grove, Pennsylvania U.S.A. William Barnh, yes at one time there used to be a lot of beam trailers for the cranes pulled by the old chain drives like Sterling, only the cranes have gotten bigger in size and more maneuvera- bility is needed on the trailer for turn- ing. Many of the crane rental and rigging company's used to have the custom built truck's (prime movers) made by Autocar, Cline,Hendrickson, Mack, to name a few. Some were custom fabricated in their own shops.I remember fondly as a young man, the McHugh Brother's from PA. and Hoff- man equipment from Piscataway, N.J. They both had some big prime movers.
As of Friday there's still over 75 pieces of heavy equipment still here at the off site storage location. They get a 1 month grace period after the show is over to get the equipment without a storage fee's and I think they even gave them another month because of covid 19 but the storage fee's are starting to really rack up on them and they won't release them until there paid in full. There has never been equipment still here like this before
This years show has had a lot of concessions made due to COVID issues so the fees aren’t exactly bad but aren’t chump change either. Should have an empty lot by Dec. and yes experienced haulers should be requiring a premium but at the same time these non experienced clowns are coming out the woodworks at half the rate causing a major shit storm
@@SmalltimestudiosNY you are completely right. Theses people who are cutting the prices is screwing everyone over big time. Then you have the others who demand the preimium price that don't know anything about the heavy haul business and screw up a expensive piece of equipment which effects the one's that have been doing it forever. It's a fucked up deal anymore
That is very true, then the actual heavy hauls that demand a premium and has the experience to back it are looked at and laughed at. Clowns are making a bad name for true heavy hauls and nothing can be done about it except drop your prices to try and compete and hope you don’t lose your ass by doing it
I would think an I-Beam trailer would have been a better choice for a move of that size. Please feel free to correct me. We had a 54-B Bucyrus Erie Dragline we moved with an I-Beam Trailer. As a matter of fact, it was. pulled with an old Sterling Mack chain driven tractor back in 1969. Power, you bet. Anyway, I-Beam or flatbed. Your thoughts, please. Your crane is a lot bigger. Thanks.
What gets me is when your hauling something this size trying to negotiate tight streets and some idiot in a mini cooper races up and puts his bumper up to yours like your in his way.
I worked for a company that were doing good. Then they bought out Grove Western Division. They had to keep Grove management. And anyways the company I worked for had to file for bankruptcy just a little while later. There is a moral in that story but it is the truth.
Delong heaven haul used to use Peterbilts, but switch some years ago, the driver here name is Brian, been with this company for many decades, I noticed this truck still has “Paul” before Delong, as he sold the company to Delco crane company, and now most of the truck have removed the first name

Yeah they’re talking about the stupid comments they’re going to get on this video!!🤣
Weight of the machine is 263,000lbs (119295 kg) and the crane can lift 140 us tons (127 metric tons)
That's great. Thank you for showing me these machines
Bro that video was awesome 👌👏...I love working with heavy machinery and the driver of that crane did a hell of a good job..
I appreciate your compliment 👊👊
Operator,,, not driver! 😎
Very well planned and executed. This is not for the faint hearted people.

Bought it right from the show company s right in town...be sweeet to operate..
Manitowoc is preventing damage to their driveway. Grove cranes aren’t the largest heavy equipment lifters . I am with MANITOWOC CRANES

you can tell that haulers in this video are very experienced, because they can't properly secure the crane to the trailer
We need a conexpo here in Fresno. We have a ag show with farm equipment

Maybe that was the best choice in 1969, but things have changed.
Up until I retired in 2018 we moved D-10 and D-11 on a beam because we were trying to keep the height down below 16' ft

What is the lift capacity of the Grove Crawler Crane being moved out of at conexpo 2020?
They should all be wearing hi-vis vests/jackets,safety boots and hard hats, no excuses.
Every osha employee should have a back up alarm permanently fixed to their body that never stops beeping.
There is usually a disconnect switch in the cab.
