  • If I'm going to make potatoes, this is the method I prefer. The recipe is super simple:
    Cut the potatoes into 1/8 to 1/4 inch slices leaving about a 1/4 inch at the bottom to hold it together.
    Coat with Olive Oil, Salt and Pepper
    Cook for 30 minutes @425
    Melt a stick of butter and add whatever spice you prefer, I did 1 teaspoon minced garlic and a couple diced up garlic scapes (thyme, sage, rosemary are all tasty.)
    Coat the potatoes with the garlic butter mixture, making sure to get in between the layer.
    Continue cooking until the potatoes reach an internal temp of 195, then turn up the grill/oven to 525 and keep cooking until they reach 205-210.

      Awesome let me know how you like them. My only tip would be if you have a thermometer make sure you check the finished temperature of the potatoes so that you know they’re nice and soft in the middle

    Love Hasselback potatoes...I have made them in the oven with skins on and peeled. Hubby prefers the skinless. Also, you can use large long matchsticks, or chopsticks to cut them and it makes a deeper cut and it fans a bit better😁

    I do them on the webber kettle. With a hickory chip smoker pouch. Then put them under the broiler to finish them.

    Do they take on any smoke flavour or was is too hot?

    • @daveshouseofbbq
      @daveshouseofbbq  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not really. It’s more of a grilled flavor, similar to what you would get on a charcoal grill. I used a mild wood pellet for mine.

    This recipe looks awesome!
    A little tip for future videos: just put your voice over the footage of preparing the food. A lot of this video was just watching your face talk about the recipe instead of just showing plenty of the food prep.

    • @daveshouseofbbq
      @daveshouseofbbq  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the tip, but I’ll probably stick to my method. In that video there was just slicing, seasoning and cooking. Not super exciting.

      @@daveshouseofbbq well actually that's your misunderstanding of the youtube audience. We're here looking up recipes to look at the food being prepared. If you watch any other recipe channel they have tons of "B roll" of the food preparation and not much of any recipe video is focused on their face for too long. Cuz the focus of a recipe video should be the food.

    • @daveshouseofbbq
      @daveshouseofbbq  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dreadfairy6963 I understand it just fine, I just make my videos the way make them, but yes more b-roll is nice. Send me a link to one of your videos so I can see the difference.

    • @dreadfairy6963
      @dreadfairy6963 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daveshouseofbbq you can see the difference on any other recipe video. I'm sure you watch other recipe channels... or you can look up any random recipe video on here.

    • @daveshouseofbbq
      @daveshouseofbbq  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dreadfairy6963 I don’t really watch any other cooking channels, I mostly read websites, but I’ll look some up. The few I do watch from time to time, have budgets and multiple cameras, I’m just a dude in his backyard, who’s really not conserved too concerned with this sort of stuff, but I’m glad you are. 😂 in your opinion, what’s a TH-cam channel that does it right?

    doesn't anyone not use garlic for people who don't eat it? Garlic seems to be a hack for cooking...I wish I could eat it

    Great looking recipe, but I'd like to see more of the food, less of the host.

      Sucks for you. I make the videos the way I make them. Thanks for watching

      No need to be a douche. People watch cooking vids to see recipes, not the host jibber-jabbing, nor the enormous glare off the hosts forehaead.
      Since you're so sensitive to mild criticism, I'll do you a favor and avoid 'Dave's Ohio' vids in the future.
      May you get all that you deserve.
