  • Revell Millennium Falcon easy-kit gets a repaint to bring it up to scratch. In part 1 it was detailed to make it a little better, in this video it gets repainted and in Part 3 It'll get weathered and finished off.
    Painted with Vallejo Air thinned with Ultimate Modelling Products acrylic thinners. Sanded with Ultimate Modelling Products sanding sponges - thanks to Lee for the UMP materials, these are highly recommended folks!
    Please head to facebook and LIKE the Scalemodelmedic page - I use it a lot to post pictures and chat, it's the best way to get in touch if you have any questions!

    I’m on a budget myself & just getting back into modeling after over 20 years. I’ve jumped right in & taken to doing a big kit - the Millennium Falcon in several kits & scales. Your style, commentary & techniques in a detailed instructional method is making it possible for me to do quality detailed work on my own Falcon kits, getting better as I go. Keep up the great work - maybe I’ll produce a video or two myself, eventually. I’m following your entire Falcon build “series.”

    This is probably one of the very best MF painting tutorials on the internet. You do a great job of explaining your process step by step.I have done several Falcons in the past but my painting has always been my weak spot. I am a few months into the Deagostini Falcon and you have inspired me to dive in with both feet and do a full repaint on it. Great video and excellent paint job!

    Thats amazing.
    I have a bunch of older Star Trek kits from when I was a kid. They are simple kits and because of that I havent given much thought to taking them up again, but having seen this I think I will see what I can do to bring them to life.
    Im truly inspired.
    Look forward to the weathering,

      Thanks, I appreciate that, but the options and quality of the new camera have opened up some possibilities I didn't have with the point and shoot type cameras, plus now I have 3 separate cameras I can do lots of multi angle on jobs that need it (I film more than modelling these days) plus gadgets are just awesome and I wanted one!!!

    Excellent video. I like instructions. that are clear and easy to follow. Final result looks great. How long did it take you to do all that precision preshading?
    It certainly looks like a lot of work.

    • @ScaleModelMedic
      @ScaleModelMedic  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      the pre-shading was over the top. I could have got away with much less, but this was my first proper outing with the H&S infinity so I needed to get familiar with the airbrush and this was the perfect opportunity! It took a few hours to fully paint!

  • @incrediblefruit
    @incrediblefruit 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    You have a great gift which is something I wish I had as I would love to be able to airbrush and you really have polished a turd here...would you maybe be able correct any misgivings on the mpc/airfix falcon and fix all the wrong dimensions and give it the same finish as it would look fantastic with your paint job :)

    @dimitridem7750 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Jon,
    Great video again, I just noticed that you were using a grey background for your painting table : is it intented for better video (or photo) results, or is it for better (or more comfortable) painting ? Or maybe it's just a chance (but I doubt it, since I know using a grey background is popular for graphic artists for photo digital edition).
    thanks

  • @ScrubbersGhost
    @ScrubbersGhost 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    What are you actually using for the chipping coat, actual hairspray or a Mig/Ammo/AK product?...just curious as it looks rather nice.Only thing that I would suggest is, not using Vallejo when using the Hairspray technique, comes off in big chunks and is much harder to control. Lifecolour, Gunze and Tamiya give much better control and much more finesse.Don't see you posting on ML much nowadays either :(

    • @ScaleModelMedic
      @ScaleModelMedic  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed that Vallejo flakes off in big chunks, I believe that the same ingredient which makes it so forgiving and smooth in application also binds it together in big sheets. What would've helped is a lighter application of hairspray and a lot longer time before applying the water. I've found it much more effective after a few hours - but sadly these days my modelling time is so limited that I had to chip almost immediately. Citadel paint also responds nicely to the technique. I use plain hairspray decanted into the brush, Tesco value hairspray to be precise. I don't post on ML at all these days, the last time I used it I didnt like the "feel" of the forum. I think someone had just done some heavy trolling or something, but there were lots of arguments going on so I've not gone back since.

    great video and i have a question.. has anybody ever made a screen accurate model WITH all of the interior too? so like where you could open it up and see the entire interior too. ive tried searching the internet a bit and only found some pictures of part of the interior.

    • @ScaleModelMedic
      @ScaleModelMedic  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the old mpc cutaway kit had an interior but it was inaccurate I'm afraid. modelmantom lit one with fibre optics iirc it was cool

  • @djcressman3908
    @djcressman3908 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    great video...what psi are you using?

    • @ScaleModelMedic
      @ScaleModelMedic  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tend to spray about 22-25 psi but it depends on the paint I'm using. I like using odd cocktails of Vallejo paint and varnish which need a few extra psi to shoot, but I also like spraying straight citadel paints with UMP thinners, this requires a bit less.
