★★★ *FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE VIDEO / FACT UPDATES* ★★★ *1) Why did you use CGI footage at **15:56** and not original model footage* - I tried getting original footage, but all Star Wars films on streaming platforms are protected, I could not even screen capture the footage, it comes out blank. So I used what I could find on TH-cam, since it's only a few seconds of footage to highlight a point in the narration, so it falls under fair use, but I could not get original model footage.
*_There is also another one that is very accurate. It was scratch built by a professional model maker in Norway in the late '90's maybe very early 2000's. It's over 6 feet long_*
On a drive somewhere in my home, I have digitized HD footage of the original trilogy that while not all of it is directly derived from them is completely screen accurate to the original theatrical releases of the original trilogy. This even means the first movie in the original trilogy not claiming to be "Episode IV: A New Hope" but rather the crawl suggests it's a stand-alone film. It's not hard to find these copies on the internet if you know how to shiver your timbers and know that the correct search term is "despecialized edition." Last I heard a 4K version was being worked on. It might be out by now. The copies I have are just standard HD because I don't have much of a use for 4K since the geometric increase in pixels isn't worth the almost imperceptible increase in visual fidelity from the screen viewing positions in my home.
BIG THANK YOU to Wonder World for creating this video and expanding on all the work and effort that went into this Replica! I'm very happy to share this with everyone!! Thank You Scott!
Hey Sean, I am glad you liked it, I know this video won't be to everyones liking as it's fairly long winded, but I really wanted to go into all the detail of the build for true STAR WARS fans. I am happy with the end result, it was a lot of work, but I think it was worth it.
This is the *biggest and most complex video I have ever made.* I spent 7 x 12 hour days to make this video, 3 days script writing, 2 days narration editing, 2 days video editing. I would like to give a *HUGE THANKYOU!* to Sean Sides from Squaremodels, who went well above and beyond to get me all the extra footage, pictures, intro & outro for this video. Plus a *special thankyou* to Jared from Jared Owens TH-cam Channel, for letting me use his 3D model tour footage in this, my first 3 way video collaboration.
This is by far the best thing I ever have seen about Star Wars here on TH-cam. And I tought my Lego Millennium Falcon was a thing to build and place on a stand.... Hats off !
Man what a legend I’m so glad they invited him to meet those people that helped work on Star Wars wars probably one of the greatest moments in his life
You have to really love something to go through all this trouble. What a beautiful tribute to the artists that created the original models. Jaw dropping attention to detail. The passion for the subject is obvious and inspiring.
This is curator level stuff, although much harder because he had to make it all from scratch. Great work. I was obsessed with this ship when I was younger, still am a bit. Thank you very much to all involved...
I had a chance to work with our image analysis patriots while I was in the Air Force and your videos are very close to what those folks do. Wow, I am amazed and impressed at your skill to nail down these locations. Thank you for your work. These are not just pop culture videos, this is our art history. My intro to A Clockwork Orange was through Sigue Sigue Sputnik. I remember the moment exactly. I was sleeping on the couch at home and their video came on MTV in the 80's and it blew my balls off. I got the album and my weird stepfather listened to it and told me the samples they were using were from a movie called Clockwork Orange. I asked for the movie on VHS for Christmas and my parents bought it for me, they didn't know any better at that time. I was way too young to be watching that movie but I was the coolest kid among my skate friends because I had a VHS of a Clockwork Orange. Thank you.
Meanwhile, in the 70's, the guys doing the original model: "lets construct this shit by pouring as much random spare parts we can pick up in that bucket we found on the street this morning. Hurry up ! we only have 2 hours before the shooting".
oh yeah that would not surprise me, Model builders "just throw anything on there, I mean it's not like anyone will watch this stupid sci fi movie anyway"
yeah, in fact 70's modelers were in a hurry to get this one,,, still, they were talented, and this video proves it takes a lot of work to just imitate creativity in its pure state,,,
Imagine how great all of the Star Wars movies and streaming series could have been if we had people who are as passionate about Star Wars as this man is working on them.
Absolutely amazing !!! Finding , identifying and assembling all of those parts ??? Geeeezz... That's like having a handful of sand , dropping it on a table and then putting each grain back in the same order as when they were in your hand. True model building Jedi .
I have met Sean in person on several occasions and he is one of the greats. Not just for his skill and eye for detail, but also for his attitude and positive personality. We all have our individual project obsessions and it is incredibly cool to meet people like Sean and bounce both secrets and ideas off of one another. And Sean has done many other models, such as his studio scale Cylon Basestar, Galactica laser turret mounts and I believe even a Galactica itself.
What an incredible work. The time, money, effort and sheer passion put into this project by him is just unbelievable. Hats-off, sir, you are one of a kind fan. Respect.
This is the coolest thing i have ever seen, just fantastic, younger people might not understand the nostalgia of this, but as a child of the 80s it warms my heart to see it
The main thing that sets this project apart from others is the complete ABSENCE of creativity. He didn't allow himself any kind of freedom whatsoever. Only by this approach was he able to get the replica to this incredible status. This is one of the videos that best mirrors my type of autism - thanks for shedding light on this incredible build!
Wow. Just speechless. Guess you know now more than the builders on set.... I guess they just took some parts randomly. Decent work. and it shows the level of detail of model building which was very unique in the 70's... that was key for the success of Star Wars. Just compare it to other scifi movies of that time. This was key. Thanks you so much. Cheers!
Still my favourite space ship from any sci fi film ever. The first time I saw this in the cinema in 1977 just made me go wow.The battered look, the muck and grime and not to mention the best engine sound from any film ever.
I used to think just like you until I tried to build a model of this ship. At that moment I realized that the outer and inner scales of this ship don't match at all. This let me down.
Jaw dropping … that about sums up my reaction . Just absolutely amazing job ! Wow! I don’t even know they took pieces from random model kits … an the attempt it took to track them all down ?! Psh ! That in itself must of been a huge chore ! This needs to be in a vault !
Amazing 👏👏👏👏👏😎 with patience, time and proper interest you can pretty much accomplish anything no matter what....... You good sir are amazing.... That piece is a work of art.
What you've got there is a work of art. It's amazing and wonderful at the same time. I'd love to hear some of the original modeler's stories about building such a classic space ship and what they had to go through.
Gee, I thought my millennium falcon when I was a kid look good, this guy is to be commended for his patients and pursuit, he produce something that is truly, truly amazing and equally accurate and detail, the guy just built himself a living/breathing résumé for ILM
Incredible work brother!! I am 3 months into building the Bandai 1/72 perfect grade Millennium Falcon. Cockpit, gun bays, weathering is as close as I can see to screen accurate. It also has neopixel LED'S and sound. 🤘
Incredible. My favorite version of the Falcon is when it lands in Cloud City. For some reason the landing gear were mind blowing. Probably because they seemed different than SW4, which I didn’t truly figure out until later that the Falcon did have additional landing gear, which for this kid back then and then later on, was really cool!
It's Genius......what took so long to start building it? Guess better late than never, but half of those original model builders are gone. They would've truly appreciated this build more than anyone. Thank you Thank you Thank you.

They also used the same kit to replicate the aft exhaust section of the X-wing fighter. That part was the J79 jet engine that was removable int he F-4 kit.
Darth Vader, wanting to build one: "I WANT THOSE PLANS!" 😀👍 Magnificent, Sean!! Loved this video and subscribed to see more! I love The World of Miniature Anything and you have truly created a masterpiece!! 🥰🥰
