    I think as world no 1 Momota is so confident in his skills and ability that even when he's down 3 or 4 points in the final game it doesn't deter him and he's able to play normally without all the excess worry

    One of the best matches in 2019 in mens singles...No doubt..! Reminded me of Semifinal match in Fuzhou open 2018 which went till 97 min..Nonetheless, Chen Long's played his best and his net skills were amazing..But hats off to Momota for his patience and precision...Cant wait to see another Chen Long vs Momota clash.

    Kento Momota has high skill of defence and accuracy. If he be patients on his stactic and wait for his component to make mistake than he has very high chance to win a point. But people would say it s boring.

    There were so many unforced errors from Momota's racquet in this match, which was very unusual. Chen Long played brilliantly, very strong attack and defense, the best match of Chen Long in recent two years. Momota really had a very tough time handling the drifts and retrieving Chen Long's amazing smashes. Momota was under enormous pressure for nearly the entire match, he endured till the end and finally won this match!! Respect to both players!

      Momota vs Chen Long head to head is 5-5. They are both very similar players (Chen Long with marginally better attack and Momota with better agility) with a stamina draining style. Momota just has better stamina because he's younger and hasn't had as much wear and tear from so many years on the circuit.

    I must question what Morten and Gill were saying. Yes, it was a thrilling and enjoyable match. But, it's far from a high-level match. Look at how many unforced errors both of them made because of the strong drift. When Momota hit a smash down the line, he was more like cutting the shuttle unintentionally. He made 4 or 5 of those. Chen Long made big-margin smashing errors we don't often to see from him as well even though he had good ones as well. It seems to me that Momota decided to win by his net play (So many more of those than his previous matches in this tournament. At least their net exchanges were awesome to watch) realizing it is risky when he goes 100% on his smash.
    If you are a Japanese, you probably heard the conversation Momota had with Park Joo-bong:
    PJB: "You are not getting a clean hit. It is difficult huh?"
    Momota: "Yes." frowning.
    I was not completely sure about what Nakanishi said, but it sounded like he said the shuttle is different...
    The final 5 rallies were kind of disappointing. It was so anti-climatic. It is only my guess and I will never know the truth, but I think the drift changed even during the game. Chen Long were playing with good length most of the time up to that point, and then suddenly made 5 consecutive unforced errors. I think it is acceptable if the drift is at least consistent during the match because once you adjust to it, then you can start playing consistently. But, if the drift changes during the match, what are players supposed to do? It become too unpredictable for them. I wish the playing condition here is like Basel. Morten and another commentator (forgot his name) were saying that there is no drift in the stadium and it's pure badminton at its best during the World Championship. I agree. Sure, all the players are playing with the same drift in this tournament, but it makes badminton less artful in my opinion.

      @vannieboy 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Kinghalo1982
      @Kinghalo1982 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@quanganh9102 Okay, my words probably come out wrong. Sorry. I meant more like it is not the quality they could play when they are the best without much drift. For example Momota made some big-margin smash errors that go out of the doubles zone. Also, for so many smashes, he was not getting a right contact with the shuttle, which made those shots sounds more like cuts. He does not make those mistakes typically. So, in that sense, I felt the match was not that high level. A match between LCW and Momota at Malaysian Open last year was of much higher quality I think. So, it was a bit disappointing as my expectation was high. And, no I could not care less about LCW or LD. I like them, but I do not root for either of them.

    “To beat Momota, you have to attack him all-out.”
    It’s easier said than done, otherwise these Gintings, Shi Yuqi’s, Antonsen’s would’ve done it time and time again. Axelsen, probably the most attacking player right now, would’ve beaten him. I happen to think it’s that you can beat Momota when his focus is a little off, and he’s lifting too much, not playing to the net, not playing the neutralizing shots he’s known for. And for some reason his focus is always on when he meets Axelsen, which is why he wins all the time.
