      i wish you could press liek on a video and it registers as if i watched the whole video, because often i like a video but i dont care about the topic anymore or already know the stuff. i only like sport luxury cars in theory, because why drive things when you can just simulate in imagination... food when hungry is better consumerism. makeing everyday commute less boring , stressful, etc driving funs is escaping perceived danger and driving style for lower emissions to whatever extent you wish
      emissions driving rules means: exponential accelerator pedal compression pace from around 5 miler per hour , optimal energy level , engine RPM . put down more power than that before uphills and on downhills brake and steer minimally and steadily. (tire wear and weight is bad in emissions too)
      bike better than car, safety is unlikely to be a issue especially if skilled and quick accelerating. uber eats container, rubber egg crates, silicone bag , etc (micro plastic carcinogenic xeno estrogen emission of plastic wearing off from friction, heat, moisture, , potential partially airborne like in tire wear dust, etc).
      weight increases road damage, crash damage to all involved, more tire wear. low weight means easily controllable traction loss, tires last longer with more grip . linear addition in weight is exponentially worse in many ways especially in addign battery weight per effiency of battery . if you can get the suspension to be softly sprung with lot of body roll proportionate with max potential Gforces from change in movement direction, itll feel more dramatic fun giving a more accurate idea of when car wil loose grip.also makes it less harsh rideing, not as much need for heavy expensive vibration engineering . gordon murray t50 uses turbine suppedly to do this across big range of gforces , being like a miata lotus elise in everyday speeds and simlar in supecar speeds. turning off power steering also makes it possible to read how close to grip limit car is at a even more precise level while improving battery longveity and efficiency by less high rate energy flow i guess the best way in normie tech is lightweight effceiny , probably small battery electric car with small combustion slow charger, optimized for saveing money long term . nobody will inconvenience theirself to trust "the science" probably largley paid off by money printing joeee biden joeish , also called "greedy captialist". real valued ideas are often business secrets ........... could also just argue to have driving fun with ligthweight combustion mid rear engine 2 liter inline 3 //hybrid rotary limited slip diffrential momentum preservation lotus elise CVT transmission sort of compact 4 that can lift to "suv" car height with forged recycled carbon fiberfor saftey X lightweight. small electric drive at front

The one thing that disappointed me, though, was that he was really trying to drive home the point that engineers are easy to replace in a large corporation, so that didn't make me feel good about becoming one.

    • @OldRustySteele
      @OldRustySteele หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      One of the reasons why Corvette engineers stuck with the OHV small block rather than DOHC until now is that they wanted to keep the engine profile short in order to keep the hood/front end low in the front engine generations. Now that the engine is behind the cabin, they can have a taller engine.

    • @jaekimchi
      @jaekimchi หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      @@OldRustySteele Mercedes had no issue putting a DOHC TTV8 in a low slung SLS AMG or AMG GT.
      The main reason why Chevy stuck with pushrods was costs. Upper management did not want Corvette to be spending money on a high performance bespoke engine.

    • @arpadmiklos7339
      @arpadmiklos7339 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      The good old "DOHC is modern, OHV is legacy" meme strikes again 😆 These designs are almost the exact same age (1904 vs 1910), each have their distinct, inherent advantages and drawbacks. GM had many, many DOHC engines before the LT6 and LT7, this is nothing new or exciting to them in itself. What the engineers must have loved was the "no compromise needed" statement, a rare utterance from penny pinchers at the top.

    At around 49:40 onward, he really hits the nail on the head. I think this philosophy expands across their whole line-up from their Camaro 1LE's to their Ct5V / 4V blackwings. He said they're very intentional on keeping the visual, tactile and audible cues that make you the driver, the center of the machine whereas everyone else is trying to isolate you from the machine. You can literally feel it when you drive these modern GM cars from their shifter (if manual), steering, raw torque, throttle response, acceleration and handling. This is why I cancelled my G80 M3 order the day after I test drove the Ct5v blackwing. You can complain about interiors, but GM knows how to make a drivers car.

    Just wanted to comment after finally finding time to watch the whole video. Really appreciate the depth of these engineering videos that you guys put out. They are genuinely more in-depth than actual documentaries that tend to be broader in information, I think because no one else is hitting that sweet spot of technical information while being accessible enough for casual enthusiasts to approach. No one else showcases the actual engineers and just lets them talk about their work, shows their development process, goals, slides of graphs, data, CAD drawings, development parts, etc. Combine that with the quality cinematography and editing as you guys consistently do, and what's left is some of the best automotive journalism, anywhere.
