    I have one of these above my garage on my house and love it. I’m going to replace the remaining three cameras with this model. The only defect was the mounting bracket it came with. I live in a hurricane prone area so I bought Arlo medal bracelets so the cameras doesn’t move.

    Is it a concern that the internal battery in this camera is NOT replaceable? It only has so many cycles before it goes bad...just wondering if this would be a factor? Also, does it have a way to have the app on your PC? Can you view all camera live feeds at once on a single screen?

    I had one die this month. It would have been 2 years old in October. That's some expensive hours of use. I still have another one running, but neither one of the 2 cameras have streamed live once I get notifications for over a year. I love the clarity, features, & ease of use, but not sure if they're actually as good as I thought when I purchased them.

    This might be a stupid question but do you need a homebase for this camera?
    I just bought two eufy indoor 362K pan and tilt cameras, they are both crystal clear and there is never any lag in pulling up video.
    I actually put one of the indoor cameras outside on my back porch underneath my flat screen on a table which is shaded.
    This thing is crystal clear and even when you zoom in which amazes me, no loss of resolution.
    It is the perfect way for me to check my entire yard and on my dog when I leave him alone outside.
    I just purchased this particular camera for above my garage on my driveway in front yard.
    I would assume the resolution is equal .

      I definitely agree on those 360 cameras, I have one of them in my garage right now. Awesome I’ll cameras. The solo cameras do not require any sort of a base station, they hook to your net work the same way the 360 camera to. Thanks for the kind words!

      The S40 is not compatible with Homebase. On the upside that's one less device you need to purchase and connect. On the downside all recordings are stored on the camera, so playback is slower, and if someone steals the camera you're SOL for finding who did it. 😕

      Where I live I don’t have to deal with snow, but I definitely think snow buildup would be an issue. If you had an area where maybe you could dust the snow off with a broom, or something else long enough that you could brush off the solar panel I think he would be OK.

  • @johnwang9914
    @johnwang9914 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Problem is that it's in their "Solo" line where the video is stored within the device instead of on the Home base 2 so if taken, the stored video is taken as well unless you have the cloud subscription. That and the mount allows you to remove the camera without any tools at all, as it's more like the mounting screw of a camera tripod with a thumb wheel. You're better off with one of the cameras that require the home base 2 and just buy the external solar panel that can be mounted nearby.

    • @DoItYourselfDad
      @DoItYourselfDad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The nice part about this one is that it’s solar. You can put it up high enough that it’s not easily accessible by thieves Because you won’t have to take it down to recharge it.

    • @johnwang9914
      @johnwang9914 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DoItYourselfDad The higher you mount it, the less likely you are of capturing a usable face shot or license plate shot. You have to expect the unit may be damaged or taken.
      I'm just saying that Eufy does have external cameras that store the video on the Home base 2 and they have an external solar panel option for them. It would be nice to have the panels as part of the camera if nothing else but for the price but until they have a similar unit that can operate with the home base 2, I don't see this as an advantage.

    • @DoItYourselfDad

      I don’t disagree, I’ve got 5 cameras hooked to their base station. I suppose it also comes down to the intended use. Thanks for the review. I'm wondering about the max length of the clip. In your video the Optimum Surveillance mode can record up to 60s, can it be made longer via Customize Recording option? I have a Eufy 1 camera and the problem is it can only record up to 60s, so if the event lasts longer, there is a cooldown period and the camera doesn't record the whole thing. Thanks in advance.

      On this camera you can set the record time as long as 120s and the cool down time as short as 5s

      wait for eufy to release a base station for their newer cameras and that'll be taken care of. same problem with the earlier cams and then they made the base station. it's a problem with having to get approval from apple. so eufy has the choice of releasing to everyone except apple about a year earlier or wait for apple approval and this wouldn't be released yet

      @@brandonliwanag136 thats great and all, but i already have a homebase… So i think its not the smartest move from Eufy for excisting customers.

      @@metalmini it could very well be just needing approval from apple to integrate their new cameras into the apple eco-system so I wouldn't doubt that it would be part of a new software update. however long that takes though I'm sure the technology will be advanced enough that a new homebase will be introduced as well

      The point of these seem to by that they don’t require then base station.

      @@DoItYourselfDad then they can just steal them and you lose all footage, wonderful!

      With the solar there’s no need to take them down to charge, so there’s no need to mount these in a place where they are easily accessible. They can be mounted higher than they can be easily reached and stolen.

    The solar is useless..... unless your WiFi stays on....

      The point of the solar is to keep the camera charged. The e40s don’t have solar and they need to be charged periodically, these you’ll never have to take down to charge….. also Eufy camera store all your footage locally, not on the cloud like other brands cameras, so if your internet goes down the camera will continue to record.

      I would suggest trying running bluestacks on your PC and then loading the android app on blueatacks. I haven’t tried it but it should work.
