Avorion is a procedural co-op space sandbox where players can build their own space ships out of dynamically scalable blocks. Fight epic space battles, explore, mine, trade, wage wars and build your own empire to save your galaxy from being torn apart by an unknown enemy.

Can't hear your ship name without remembering an old pirate joke from elementary school. -- After a pitch battle with a British frigate a Pirate captain was getting ready to board the beaten ship. The captain turned to his first mate and yelled 'Where's me buccaneers? Puzzled, the first mate replied 'Their on yer buccanhead captain!'
For those who might find this series later, you can move mines by applying the design of a tiny ship (a few blocks of generators, crew quarters, shield generators, armor, and a dock). Then dock with it with a larger ship (might have to set it to "transport mode") and hyperspace jump with it to another more populated sector. The apply the much larger "proper" design once you're there.
Tips: Stone is cheap and applies a lot of hp, so saving the "design" of the solid rock asteroid you start with is a good cheap foundation to build from. You already will need factories, so add hangers and fighters to defend the mine. If you have more than one station/mine in a sector, you can put repair fighters in one and set it to "repair sector" to keep the others fixed. Similarly, you can have a station with tons of extra cargo space and salvage fighters set to "salvage sector." The rest of the stations should have combat fighters and all of them should have turrets too.

ENGINEERS - employ enough to make their skill up to 200%, engines work better & hyperspace cooldown is reduced.
Mechanics - employ enough to make their skill up to 200%, hull repairs happen far quicker.
Yes missions get stopped if they meet enemies, if each ship carries r-salvaging lasers, they can also do salvage missions and will collect all the loot.
Make a ship with a trader captain and dump all that crap into his hold, then tell him to go sell it all. He can also buy all the parts on that list you were given.
The Xsotan only attack you if anything on your ship actually fires, even a mining laser will do it.
The unstable wormhole is what the Xsotan summoner uses to bring in reinforcements.
You can press R to get the closest enemy (you should be able to find the R key easily enough - its next to E ;) )
The xsotan only attack if they see you do something like mine, salvage or attack another ship. And they don't seem to talk to each other either, so even if you destroy one patrol, they next won't be hostile until you do one of the previously mentioned things. With the repair lasers, i think you either need to order your escord to repair you, or you need to set the turrets to autofire and sit in range of them. One thing i like to do is have a stationary storage ship in a friendly sector that you can offload any unneeded cargo/missiles/drones into
The Xsotan are a full on faction with reputation. Shoot enough of them and they will turn red as soon as they jump in, just like pirates.
Best way I have found to locate the hidden mass in a sector (if it isn't obvious) is to use Tab. It selects the next object in the sector. If all you get is your own ship, then there isn't anything there.
The No fighters symbol on the ship means it is Anti-fighter. So yes, lots of PD turrets.
You should send a ship out to do a scouting mission to explore all the systems in an area. Only takes 16 mins to run!

Not sure if you've already decided on which mine to found but if not, you might want to permanently install a trading subsystem to give access to the economy overview (galaxy map) to see what's in high demand before you decide. Also, I'm not sure if you've noticed but you can now dock with your own mine or station and move it to a better location by selecting engage transport mode via their interaction menu. Obviously it would be impossible to move a mine as heavy as it is but once you found the mine you can use any design you have saved to make it much lighter and easier to move around, once you've decided on a location transform back into your saved mine design, then go into the interaction menu and select engage station mode, it will take 10 minutes before the station becomes active again.

Couldn't wait for this. You should make a scout ship they are awesome and cheap. Your miners do better if the area they mine is well scouted as well.... and you can boost to cool down your warp driver faster. you just need to head in the direction of your next jump. Xsotan ships only fire on you if you use any turret around them, even mining turrets. Yes your miners will stop if they get ambushed. You want to pay attention to your torp's range and use them from as far away as you can. What a cliff hanger!!! I hate you for that

yeah they do stop if they get attacked. the repair guns will repair you if on another ship. the best way to use them is make a fighter from them and you can repair in combat. to complete the list use your trade interface instead of the map.
If your torpedo launchers are covered in any way, the torpedo will just blow up at your ship.
The fighter with a cross through it symbol means anti-fighter - anti-fighter turrets have bonus damage vs fighters and torpedoes thus anti-fighter ships are automatically good at taking out torpedoes as well.

Put pulse turrets on ship because they can go through shielding plus high damage to hull. You will need it when you go further to the centre.

Claim it, choose the type of mine, go into build mode. scale it down 50% a few times. dock it. move it. then apply a design when you get where you are going
If i'm not sure that i can beat a enemy i program a jump point before a battle. It saved my ass a few times.
Makes me want to run Avorion again!

I had a lot of station systems building up to protect my while designing my own starships, and it was a lot of fun.

Spanj, I know it a bit of work, but could you favorite some of the items in steam that you showcase in your videos? If you do that, then we all can find them right away.
You're at the point where I think it is important to state that weapon convergence matters. So, using hitscan weapons (laser, tesla, lightning cannon, railgun) and projectile ones (chaingun, bolter, cannon, plasma etc.) on the same ship doesn't mix well. No matter where you point, unless your target is stationary or directly moving towards you or away from you, you won't hit it with some of your weapons.
Time to uniformize your turrets, not only by the looks, but also by type.
I set my lasers to auto-fire for that exact reason, but I am somewhat limited on choice of turrets at the moment, chosing by DPS over type still.
@@Spanj Maybe you should do one episode about befriending a higher tech tier faction in the Naonite/Trinium zone and show everyone how to make your own customized turrets at a turret factory?
I don't think it has changed yet, but I don't think the Xsotan will attack you unless you discharge your weapons, mining, and or salvaging lasers in that sector.
I've always been a LEROY so I say do it. fun content if nothing else.
You can also use your main guns to destroy wrecks and potentially get more modules to loot! :P

spanj my dude...in the map click on your ship you want to give an order to, top right, for example: the scout icon from the list of icons on the right after you click on the ship you want to give the orders to, all the icons is different orders you can give your ship...scouting reveals a large portion of the map just be aware that you need a captain, and wont have access to the ship during the scouting
Scouting mission is one easy way to reveal large map portion. Best class for captain is explorer, they are fastest than other captain and add notes to every discoveries they make.
Its too far out at the mo, go back build your other two mines and some more ships and come back with a couple of ships then rinse them ;)

Bought it, tried it but got so bummed trying to get through the tutorial, just bug after bug, so got a refund. However, I do intend to watch the content because I may reevaluate my skillset and the game after some more development on their side. You feeling better I hope!
