Your potato salad looks delicious! If you want your hard boiled eggs to peel easily, put a tablespoon of vegetable oil in the boiling water. Eggs have little holes in the membrane so the chick can breathe, the oil fills up those membranes and that's what makes them peel easily, however you still want to use an ice bath to cool the eggs down...Thank you so much for your potato salad recipe!
My mother/grandmother’s recipe that was passed on to me , is delicious and always get big compliments ! Potatoes, Hellman’s Mayo, B&G sweet relish, Lawreys seasoning salt, Eggs (sprinkle a little paprika & a few extra sliced eggs at the top of the potato salad to look appetizing). That’s it! 🤷🏾♀️keep it simple less is more. Nothing else needed! The combination of sweet & salty is what makes it delicious! I always leave picnics, church functions & my job with an empty pan! 😅😂

I think many dont like them becos people cut them too big ! I bundle them up in a veg rubber band and slice them on a mandolin such thin celery but tastey !! And celery seed is also the most underused spice !! IT adds so much flavor to everything 👍

Your grandmother had the right idea! My Mom made her potato salad almost the same way, minus the apple cider vinegar and sugar. I think I will add this to a small amount next time to see if I like it. Mom also fried up four slices of bacon and crumbled into the dressing. I love summer salads. I use miracle whip, mustard, pickle relish, eggs, red onions, colored bell peppers, seasoned salt, onion and garlic powder, sugar and black pepper. My cousin puts cream cheese in her potato salad. I don’t care for the mustard potato salad. I also put ground chuck, onions, green bell peppers, brown sugar, barbecue sauce and spices in my baked beans. I also put chicken or turkey chopped up in my cornbread dressing from scratch. I’m an old schooled cook. I learned from my Grandmother, Aunts, Mother-in-law and by experience how to cook.

Hey Matt! I don’t put sugar in my potato salad because I feel the relish gives enough sweetness on its own. Removing the shell from a boiled egg should be done under running water. After draining the potatoes I put my half moon thinly sliced onions in with the hot potatoes so the flavor can seep into those hot potato pores. I also add my seasoning(Sazón).Once cooled the chopped bolied eggs go in along with the Duke’s. When I serve myself I like to top mine with bacon bits…the fake ones 😉.

I put grated onions, pimentos, sweet and dill relish, eggs, miracle whip (gasp), mustard, Cajun seasoning, paprika & celery flakes in mine. As long as it doesn’t have anything crazy in it I will try anybody’s but I find most people don’t know how to make it right. It’s a simple dish but you have to know what you’re doing.

Ok I’m a simplistic Kentucky girl. Never used mayo til I moved to Florida. My mommy made THE BEST POTATO SALAD EVER. Potatoes, eggs, finely chopped onion, finely chopped sweet pickles, salt, pepper, and Miracle whip. That’s all and that’s it. And everyone wanted it!!! One of the things she cooked that she took to heaven because I’m hit or miss with it, More miss than hit 😇.

Soak your onions or shallots in water for a while, drain well, and remove extra moisture with a paper towel to remove the bite. Or replace onions with milder green onions.
First, his cooking is fire! But I do have to say that sugar does not cut/neutralize acidity. You can look it up. I'm going to have to pay close attention to how many of his recipes call for added sugar. That's the only ingredient that he mentioned that I wouldn't use. I've never, ever liked potato salad, but may try his recipe sans the sugar, of course.
I am known for my potato salad. Have never put celery or boiled the potatoes in chicken broth. I season my potatoes as I am mixing everything in. Once it tastes good, that is the most important thing.

I liked your potato salad recipe but I actually have two comments I like boiling your potatoes in chicken broth I do that also. When you put your potatoes in chicken broth I put about a tablespoon of cooking oil in the broth so your eggs peel better. My other suggestion is add chopped pimentos. It doesn’t change the taste but it sure looks pretty. My mother always did this. When I took my potato salad to the church for potluck my preacher always wanted to know which one was mine. He always ate mine.

Celery is a must ! I make a boiled dressing that is over 100 years old. It was a precursor to Mayonnaise. Thicken dressing ,over warm potatoes. Potato salad holds together,for days! You would never make it any o5her way ,after tasting.

Potatoes, eggs, finely chopped onion, finely chopped sweet pickles, salt, pepper, and Miracle whip. That’s all and that’s it. And everyone wanted it!!! One of the things she cooked that she took to heaven because I’m hit or miss with it, More miss than hit 😇.

Yummy 😋! What a great recipe for potato 🥔 salad... I don't really care 4 any of the raw onion taste, but I can use just a little bit or chop them very fine so i won't really taste them.

Soak your onions or shallots in water for a while, drain well, and remove extra moisture with a paper towel to remove the bite. Or replace onions with milder green onions.
First, his cooking is fire! But I do have to say that sugar does not cut/neutralize acidity. You can look it up. I'm going to have to pay close attention to how many of his recipes call for added sugar. That's the only ingredient that he mentioned that I wouldn't use. I've never, ever liked potato salad, but may try his recipe sans the sugar, of course.

I am known for my potato salad. Have never put celery or boiled the potatoes in chicken broth. I season my potatoes as I am mixing everything in.
Once it tastes good, that is the most important thing.

I liked your potato salad recipe but I actually have two comments I like boiling your potatoes in chicken broth I do that also. When you put your potatoes in chicken broth I put about a tablespoon of cooking oil in the broth so your eggs peel better. My other suggestion is add chopped pimentos. It doesn’t change the taste but it sure looks pretty. My mother always did this. When I took my potato salad to the church for potluck my preacher always wanted to know which one was mine. He always ate mine.

Celery is a must ! I make a boiled dressing that is over 100 years old. It was a precursor to Mayonnaise. Thicken dressing ,over warm potatoes. Potato salad holds together,for days! You would never make it any o5her way ,after tasting.
