I fear you may find the same problems elsewhere though. 😅

If so, real estate isn’t just worth it anymore.

I see these huge beautiful castles for sale in France. Why don’t rich French people buy those up? Why is it British and Americans buying them for whaat seems to be cheap price?

Because the repair and maintenance costs are massive, far exceeding the cost of the castle.
Plus following all the heritage standards you must modernise, and instal heating, hot water systems, be compliant with energy efficiency standards.
In the old days there were wood based fireplaces and it was practically free. But big high ceiling rooms are very difficult to heat. I have a friend with a large house. if she goes away in the winter it takes her a WEEK to get the house temperature up to a tolerable level of warmth.
Also families are getting smaller, who is going to live in the rest of the house? Don't tell me you want to start a bohemian commune. Keep it real.
What are you going to do there? It gets boring after the novelty of being in the country wears off. You must have a purpose to live where you do. Castles had large families living there, and they had entertainment and domestic staff.
Are you going to do conversions to apartments? The benefits to that have to be well made out.
Most young people want to be in the big cities where the action is and the work is.
You need to be near transport and train or airport. Why go to the country only to have a neighbour as close as in the city?
Are you going to become a B&B? The market for that is saturated and it is massively expensive.
The issues about squatting are serious. You must have a caretaker and that costs money. Garden maintenance etc. Massive.
Castles are for the ultra rich or someone with a serious business plan.
Or you can join the oversaturated YT Channels documenting 'the journey' and become slave to the algorithms.
      It's a NO.

Beyond the maintenance and renovation costs mentioned by others, the Taxe Foncière on a castle like that would be outrageously high.

I dont know how you showed up on my feed.
I live in Australia. Australia is the best country to invest realestate in.
High yields, and one of the highest capital growths. And of course Australia is one of the most stable countries in the world.

No, we have a housing crisis because of this! France has manafacturing, they build their own cars, machinery, tech... Australia has none of that! Only houses and natural resources. Needs to change!

      @@mrEz87 yes you are right.
This video is about investment property. And thats why Australia would be a great choice for investors. Housing crises are not ending soon and property prices are only going one way ☝️.
It all depends on which side you stand on this equation.

@MrAssemali I got lucky like many that were in it at the right time. We own our property by renovating, selling, and eventually downsizing. Wish we had bought more like others did, but at the same time, I know this greed is what has caused this. You are right. It is going up, but it's because of the government doing everything at all costs to keep it going. This doesn't end well in the long term, unfortunately!

@@MrAssemali Hum, not sure if the video is about investment property ; I mean, I think Kublai (the author of the video) just meant he would have liked to own a house to live peacefully in it, not to rent it and make money.
The housing crisis hurts the People. Maybe it can be good for some people who will profit from it but at the level of a country for the People, it's a very bad thing.. and it's a disaster in the long run, even for the economy of the country. Speculating on Bitcoin is harmless, doing so on real estate is another question.. Of course, I don't put the blame on the people buying up real estate... I think we need to build much more !
