A little tip the park is flanked on 3 sides with creeks. Those creeks you can go into using a screen to sift material coming off digging tools. There is an old map from the 60s lapidary Journal with crater of diamonds on the cover, shows the layout with the extinct volcano cones in one end of the property. Worth a look especially the creeks which are fair game. Testing diamonds without an electronic tester. Diamonds are doubly refractive a line drawn in a plain white paper if diamond will make the line take the shape of the stone. If not diamond it will magnify the line.

Sheez. I'm an 81 yr old female. Trying to just get to the gravel is beyond me. Have been there 7 times and have tuff and "pretty rocks". Resigned myself that I was never going to find my own, so I went into town and bought a little canary. The lure is still with me, but the work is too much. Keep digging fellas. Hope you find a big one.

Laughing at myself right now. I have been to the crater 2 times. I now see why my process sucked so bad. Not knowing anything about diamonds or the gravel down deep, I just dug holes here and there. This was a learning tool for me. Thank you.

My husband I went there Diamond digging about 5 yrs ago. It was fun and really interesting to find all the different rocks we dug up. We didn't find any diamonds. But we really didn't know what we were looking for. We went to the quartz mine also and brought home some beautiful large quartz pieces we dug up. May have to go back again and see if we can find diamonds now that I know what one looks like.

Are sure that isn’t a ruby! I find rubies every time I go. My dads a retired jeweler I miss his store. No more freebies. Great video to show people how to look for them. Most people think diamonds are cut already but their looking for a rock. Your bound to find a nice Diamond that would be worth sending off and getting it cut into a pretty stone. A lot of diamonds their that are found are flawless and worth a lot. My dad had a ring that put a uncut Diamond in. We show it to the kids so they know what to look for. Don’t pay attention to stupid people. You did a great job!!! Keep up the good work !!

23:00 I found one of those when I visited crater of diamonds state park. I always liked how when you press a black light on it or even a regular flashlight they glow. No diamonds for me but it was a fun day trip.
